  1. No, but we could've traded Chief Illiniwek for somebody. I hear he's causing a lot of problems at U of I and could use a change of scenery.
  2. Kapler= Sox killer!!!!!!!!!!!!! If we signed him he would probably hit .077, and make 30 errors.
  3. A .266 average is not "solid," he strikes out a TON, and it's not like Konerko is a horrible defensive first baseman (like Cub fans think.) Add in the fact that the guy is a really incosistent hitter, has never been an All-Star, never had 40+ homers in a season (you should've heard how many homers the Chicago radio was predicting this guy was going to hit in 2004,) and has never drove in 100+ runs in a season. I think he is a good player, but I would still take Pauly over him.
  4. wite, don't bother. This argument eerily reminds of me aruging with Cub fans between Konerko and Derrek Lee. They think a single gold glove season makes up for being a carrer .266 hitter. :rolly
  5. 1. Randy Johnson 2. Mark Buehrle 3. Freddy Garcia 4. Jose Contreras 5. Jon Garland Closer: Shingo Marte Politte Grilli/Diaz/Cotts/Lil' Arnie/Adkins/Bajenaru (3 of them, some will be traded to Arizona.)
  6. Tigers are going to pick up Urbina's option and are confident that the situation with his mother will be resolved over the winter. (from rotoworld.)
  7. God do I hate the closer's role. Don't we have any s***ty starting pitchers that can pitch one inning befroe falling apart? DIAZ FOR CLOSER!!!
  8. IIRC, Schilling was the head prepresentative for the players back in 1994. I also think Schilling has a clause in his contract that doesn't allow the team to trade him to a team owned by Jerry Reinsdorf.
  9. So why do you suggest signing him? What makes you think the Sox will sign him at that price, or even sign him at all? And I don't think there's a chance in hell that Reinsdorf give out another long term deal to a starting pitcher AND a long term deal to a reliever.
  10. NO WAY ON PERCIVAL!!!! IMO, I don't think relievers should be signed to large contracts.
  11. I just checked up on it. Minaya was an assistant GM for the Mets before getting the Expos' GM position on 2-12-2002. Man, the Expos treat their management like their players. Work for them for 3 years, then you're off to New York.
  12. What the f*** are they talking about? Minaya just got the Mets' GM position after being GM of the Expos for all those years.
  13. I agree. He will also scare the children at USCF.
  14. I'm shocked they covered the spread. I think it was only 12.
  15. The basketball players are ALWAYS at KAM's. Last year I talked to Nick Smith and Roger Powell there. Roger and I were best friends about 15 years ago, and I just reminded him who I was, where we went to school, and mentioned something about his 6th birthday party. It was really cool.
  16. He was hanging out with the RA of my buddies' floor at Illini Tower.
  17. Who cares? I'm surprised you haven't started looking forward to the basketball season yet. I stop following Illini football around the second week. BTW, I talked to Dee Brown for a quick second last night, and he is surprisingly a lot larger than he appears on TV.
  18. I hate hockey and have ZERO interest in the Blackhawks because of Wirtz. No home games on TV? Way to market your product Bill, afterall, it has gotten you so many championships.
  19. yeah, but why couldn't they wait to decline his 2006 option next year?
  20. 2003? 2004? GMAFB!!! How many mid-season moves did Schueler make when he was the GM of the Sox?
