Muslim thugs burn embassies in Syria

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 05:54 PM) And bombing abortion clinics, shooting doctors, taking photos of people and plates of cars that go into clinics and publishing them, etc. Mmmmm... I think he is drawing the comparison that we've got plenty of ready to be violent religious fundies in our own country that it makes no sense to denigrate one group while avoiding others. Even you have to admit that Christian extremists are far fewer and their acts of violence much farther between than the Islamo-fascists. When was the last act of violence against an abortion clinic? Been a while hasn't it? Every single day theres some manner of madness going on in the Middle East. -

QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) Abortion clinics are bombed because those people believe that those doctors and offices are supporting and committing murder. There is no widespread fatal violence against gays. These dumb motherf***ers are rioting around the f***ing globe because of a f***ing political cartoon...not murder....not perceived murder....a f***ing drawing. Quit trying to draw comparisons. Oh yeah, apparently I need to add the disclaimer that should go without saying, I'm referring to the f***heads who are rioting, not the muslim religion as a whole. If this isn't proof that those societies are stuck in the f***ing dark ages then I don't know what is. -
Alabama Hate Crimes Act faces opposition

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) First off it's inevitable that asian culture will become the most dominant culture in America because of both immigration & the fact that the worlds strongest economic power will be China & that power is already being heavily influenced by Japan. Secondly, Japan is already overcrowded so even though it is a better society it's not welcome to foreigners taking up residency there. Thirdly, you obviously know nothing about Japanese culture or you would not have made reference to their woman. They have a higher % of female elected officials than we do & a large % of the sales of media that portray their women as you are suggesting are coming from the women! But the difference is they are a far more reserved society than we & they would prefer to keep such things private in their lives. They don't posture for acceptance of their behavior. Are you the product of public school education in America? I'm just wondering because I'd like to know the roots that teach that posturing for acceptance of one's behavior has anything remotely to do with personal freedom. Are you living in 1989 or something?! If American culture takes a shift of any kind based on immigration it would go towards more of a Latin American perspective as their immigrants account for more than all other regions of the world combined. -
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) With all the recent tumutuous events in the Middle East (Hamas victory, response to the cartoons, Iranian nukes, continued unrest in Iraq, high oil prices, etc.), I've started feel a lump rising in my throat. It seems to me that, as unstable as things were a few months ago, they've gotten much worse recently. I'd just like to ask the opinions of people here: is there a new war coming in the Middle East (aside from the current Iraqi insurgency and Palestinian/Israeli flare-ups)? Is it soon? Who are the players, and how will it play out? Things are getting pretty ugly, and I see a lot of indicators that it will get worse. I don't know a time frame, but here are my thoughts, to start out: --As I've posted before, I think that if Israel can get decent info on Iran's nuclear facilities, they will strike to kill the program. --Iran's leader is a nut job. Many Iranians seem to know it, but they also hate America to varying degrees. I don't know who will win out there, but I am really hoping the people realize the level of danger, and push the government to be more reasonable. --The Russians are a scary part of all of this - if Iran is attacked, there is a good chance Russia would stand up with the Iranians (depending on exactly what is going on). --Other countries like Pakistan and the other Stans could quickly destabilize if a war involving Iran occurs --Our military is stretched awfully thin. If something happens that requires their attention outside Iraq, we could be putting them at huge risk. --I don't know if the current US administration has the willingness to take a chance on real peace. I think they are just too stubborn, and they won't step up to the diplomatic plate unless the are forced to. --I think if there is one key piece to this whole puzzle, its the Palestinians. If Hamas stands up as a political party a la Sinn Fein, and makes real movement towards peace, that could help keep things stable. If on the other hand they are unable to do that, or worse, they become more aggresive, then there could be another Lightning war involving Israel, Syria and others in that area. Nothing good could come of that. I agree with most of your post. The only thing I take issue with is your assertion that the US isin't interested in peace over there. I think its the other parties involved (islamo-fascists) who are not interested in peace. These are people you simply cant negotiate or reason with because they are guided by a warped interpretation of religon and are prepared to go to any extreme of violence to back it up.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) You just said "so much for a 'religion of peace.'" Does that mean every time Pat Robertson calls for the assasination of a foreign leader, we can rightly say the same about Christianity? Pat Robertson is an idiot who does not speak for anyone but himself. Where is the voice of reason in Islam?? It seems that they have thousands of Pat Robertsons preaching hate of Europe and America in mosques across the globe and its from these teachings that terrorists are spawned. You dont hear about ministers, priests, rabbis etc.....etc...... preaching hatred about Muslims to their congregations. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) Yup, that's right. Nothing worthwhile in any Muslim human being, they're all savages. Nuke 'em all, right? And before you ask me, no, of course I'm not justifying their actions. The ones who are violent should be punished (though they won't be). I just refuse to submit to bigotry. I was referring to those who were rioting as savages, not the whole Muslim faith. You're right about one thing though, they wont be punished because the Syrian government is as corrupt as they come. -
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,183792,00.html Well lets see here. -The UN has countries like Syria, Cuba and Zimbabwe on its council on human rights -They squander the money they get from us on bribes to dictators like Saddam Hussein -They blow off a meeting chaired by Ambassador Bolton to explore ways to reform -They hand out awards to men like Generalisimo Chavez for "uniting Latin America". He then calls for the fall of the United States government in his acceptance speech. We need to stop funding the UN until they clean up their act. If they dont want to clean up their act then they should be kicked out of New York. It'd be a lot more fitting for this corrupt, hypocritical organization if they set up shop in one of these tin pot dictatorship countries they seem to love so much.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,183812,00.html Buncha little savages is what these people are. Those cartoons with Mohammed having a Turban made of dynamite grow more and more accurate by the day.

Army guys get 460 or so a year in clothing allowances to replace worn out unis & boots and stuff. Right now they're changing over to the new pixilated camo pattern and to get one set and outfit it with patches and stuff it costs like 80 bucks each.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) I'm suprised this movie isn't up for a few Oscars Give it time. Hollywood leftists would fall all over themselves to give their meaningless awards to an anti-military movie. -

Teenage Girls thumb their nose at the Law
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to Kyyle23's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Well so basically its the "it was a law they broke it, they should be punished" vs "We break small laws everyday like jaywalking, copying dvd's, copyright laws (Kyle), and drinking is one of those in some situations." I just think that the initial punishment was a bit harsh considering what i have seen in the same circumstance, and at the time, that was really harsh. And the kids were retarded for that website, and they deserve to be CAUGHT for underage drinking due to their stupidity. But at the same time, I dont think it deseved jail time. You didnt read the article. Their initial punishment was to be told by the judge to knock it off and that was it, they were let go. They werent thrown in jail until the second time they were caught ( that part where they drank, posted pics on the web, and then cursed the judge who was lenient with them the 1st time). -

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) But if the ID is clearly you, identity has been established, why should you be denied your right to vote? Just like if someone goes to their local polling place and doesn't have an ID but the pollworker knows the person, grew up with the person and confirms his identity on behalf of the county or state, why should he be denied his right to vote? You make 1 person show ID then you have to make them all do it, otherwise you can rightfully cry foul.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 05:47 PM) Everyone over the age of 20 has to pay to obtain some sort of photo ID necessary to purchase alcoholic beverages (which we have the Constitutional RIGHT to buy/sell/drink). Nobody complains about that. I completely agree that poll taxes are wrong. But if the problem is that poor people can't afford $30 for their voting cards, I'll gladly give them the money out of my own pocket... right after I take back the contribution that my taxes make towards their subsidized housing.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 05:21 PM) does the phrase "civil disobedience" mean anything to you? i'm not saying these kids had any moral purpose to what they did, but "obey the law because it exists" is a stupid argument, especially in this case because of why the drinking age is what it is. Civil disobedience is still disobedience and your logic is totally flawed. There is a word that defines the condition that exists when people decide what laws they're going to obey. That word is anarchy. -

QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) Did I say murders and rapists should be let go if not caught in the act? No. Thanks for putting words in my mouth. This (drinking underage) is a victimless crime. Laws are on the books for a reason. You cant sit there and say "well we're not going to enforce this law for blah blah reason". If you think its ok for kids to drink at a younger age then petition your government to change the law. Until such time as they change it then respect the law. -

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) It’s not video games, that’s just silly. I played lots of games as a kid but still had academic success. You are correct about Korea and their obsession with video games. The government spent billions of dollars to 'level' the playing field towards girls. Most teachers are female and don't understand the differences between male and females in the classroom. IMO our academic system needs to start concentrating more on math and English rather than social sciences. Diversity and understanding classes are a waste of school time. If you want to blame video games for something you can say that they are a big reason kids are fatter and fatter. I say this simply becuase they dont run around and play outside anymore, opting instead to play HALO or something. I totally agree that schools need to focus on the 3 Rs more than anything. When I went to school in the 80s and 90s there was none of this diversity and understanding bulls*** and myself and my peers actually got a quality education.
