  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) If we trade Marte and a spect for Pierre. I'll f***ing dance a very happy dance. I don't like Pierre as a 2 hole hitter but I like BA even less. Trade Marte for a bag of used baseballs and I'll do the happy dance.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) That's revisionist history, my friend. If the US hadn't intervened when it did, Israel would have annihilated it's attackers, and blown them to Hell. Their fabled intelligence totally dropped the ball. The head of the Mossad didn't believe that an attack was imminent until the day it was set to take place and by then it was too late.
  3. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) I'm conflicted over this. It definately improves the lineup. But losing ARow is a tough blow to take. If the cash considerations from Philly mean we can resign PK, then I guess this is the right thing to do. We hang on to Konerko next season and we're going to win at least 100 games.
  4. I think this is a good deal...........provided Thome can stay healthy. Thats my only real concern.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) My bad. We give the same amount to Egypt (NOT an ally) and have been doing so since Camp David. Also remember that Isreal was on its ass during the Yom Kippur war until we stepped in and helped em out.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Plus we borrow money from foreign countries to give to every citizen in the form of tax cuts. That is the cold hard fact. When we are cutting taxes and borrowing money, it's a pretty straight line. Mrs. Taxpayer, don't send me the $500, I'm going to borrow it from France and someone else will pay it back. Please vote for me! Actually most of the consumers higher spending power is coming from the increase in value of their homes. Economists have talked about this a lot on CNBC as well. A 1 time tax rebate, like occured in the early Bush years, doesn't do much for the economy in the long term.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) The point is, Israel is our ally. As such, shouldn't they be privy to whatever intelligence, defense systems, etc., as the US deems to provide them? You seem to be saying that Israel gets preferential treatment by the US, but that the US gets nothing in return for its support of Israel. This could not be further from the truth. (One need only look at when Israel took out Iran's nukes in the 80s). Thats Iraq's nukes that got took out. Besides, how can you equate a single bombing if Iraq to the billions in cash and weapons we've given them over the years?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) It's all on borrowed money. Get a $10,000 loan from China and spend it at your local retailers. Keep doing that every month and marvel at how great the local economy is doing. Don't worry, poor people will pay it all back. What percentage of GDP is Government outlays? Not a whole lot.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) 2. Kyoto would have only been "disastrous" for the big Corporations that the Republicans kowtow to, for the rest of the world it would have been good. 3. Where is Osama? Do you feel any safer after Bush declared "war on terrorism"? I sure as hell don't. 4. Bush forced Sharon to give up Gaza, Bush forced Sharon to allow the "Palis" control over the "borders" around Gaza, Bush prevented Israel from taking out Pali terrorist cells on several occasions, Bush has a "do as I say, not as I do" philosophy when it comes to Israel and her war against terrorism. I agree......Kyoto would be good for the rest of the world. The European economies are already in the s***ter so they have nothing to lose. China and India and the rest of the 3rd world are exempt......whats not to love? Where is Osama? Under a rock someplace afraid that if he talks to someone or moves he'll get a missile shoved up his ass or snatched by a Special Forces team. If we cant find him thats an acceptable alternative. Exactly how did Bush "force" Sharon to give up Gaza? Did he threaten to cut off the billions in aid and weapons we give Isreal every year? I think not.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) How about taxing the Hell out of those who can afford it most (i.e Corporations, the wealthiest 10% of the population), and not putting the burden on those who can least afford it? Socialist. Why should rich people pay a higher percentage of their income just because they happen to be wealthy? Robbing the rich to subsizide the poor doesn't work.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) 1) We now have billions of dollars in federal deficit, after Clinton left us with billions in surplus; Clinton left us with a recession and also he didn't have to deal with 9-11, war and several massive natural disasters. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) 2) Re. the environment, Bush pulled us out of the Kyoto accord, eased pollution standards on big corporations, is trying to destroy the Alaskan wilderness for a "few drops of oil", etc. Rightfully so. The Kyoto accord was basically a "f*** the United States treaty". It would be a disaster for our economy and would do nothing about global pollution since countries like India and China ( who pollute every bit as badly as we do ) are exempt from its restrictions. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) 3) Re. the "War on Terrorism", attacked the wrong country, has NO plan on how to get out of Iraq, hamstrung Israel. We did?! I seem to remember us deposing the Taliban first and even though nobody notices or cares Afghanistan is pretty darn stable and moving forward with its reconstruction. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) 4) Foreign policy...crammed bad deal after bad deal down Israel's throat. What are you talking about?

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) Why doesn't he tax the wealthiest 5% heavier, and make up for the deficit that he caused? Instead he chooses to nail the poor by cutting social services. Someone read Das Kapital last night. The defecit is not caused by tax cuts its caused by Congress being on an uncontrollable spending binge.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) I'd commend him for his actions after 9/11 but *any* President would have ordered those air strikes. As David Cross stated on the subject: He did what any Prez would have done. I don't go cumming all over the place because the clerk at the donut shop got my order right. Agree. All I ask is that Bushes critics are as forthcoming with praise when he does things well as they are with venom when he does not.
  16. This poll has degenerated into a "which mod messed with it last" type of thing. Based on actual votes though, it looks like Iowa is losing big time.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) In my humble opinion, Bush II is the worst president in my lifetime (since 1964). He has trashed the economy, the environment, kowtowed to "Big Business", his foreign policy sucks, he has continued to f**k the poor, he screwed up re. Iraq, etc. Other than that, I guess he's been okay. :puke Bush! LMFAO!!! Baseless drivel if I ever heard of it. Take some of the money from the tax cuts hes given you and buy yourself a clue.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 07:36 AM) I shouldn't have to check my Christian ideals at the door because I want to help, I am part of this country, and should have equal opportunity. So I have no problem with faith based through the government. I also don't have a problem with non-faith based solutions as well. It's a big country and a big budget. Yes, there were a few clinkers in his picks, but that's the case with every President. I think he tried and succeeded in diversity, in diversity of conservative ideology, and picked people of strong character. No one hires at a perfect 100% rate, especially on this scale. The early stages of 9/11 were very confusing. Who really could understand what was happening at the moment? Yes, the first 15 minutes could have been better, but in the overall scheme of things, I give George a high A grade. Alright alright.........Who are you and what have you done with Tex?!?!?!
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) I love these threads on Fark. They have me rolling sometimes. They had one on what advertisements would be like if it were true and another about a road to nowhere. Those were priceless!
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) We all get it that you dont trust Grossman to stay healthy..... now maybe you can stop with the immature and dumb posts about it.... You're right. Im giving him far too much credit. A puff of wind hits him the wrong way and he'll miss 4-6 weeks...... My bad.

  22. I voted for other since there was no choice for all of the above. Throw out "seeing them leave at the end of the day" though cause its only twice a year ( Turkey day and Christmas ) that we all get together so its not cool to see everyone go their seperate ways when its all over.

  25. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) Testing doesnt mean anything. There are no punishments or anything that have been mentioned. However, getting testing is a pretty big step for the WWE, I would have to say. I imagine Vince will start getting some more lawsuits thrown his way if his wrestlers or former wrestlers keep dropping dead. LOL! If they start handing out fines and suspending people then everyone involved will be broke and out of a job.
