QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) LOL Nuke.. you were typing for a while there and I was looking forward to a good "eff those mf'ing stupid ass french jags.. etc, etc.. " post. That was back in the spring of 2003 when we found all that military hardware stamped: Made in France.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) I think they're afraid of just how much damage it would cause. I don't really care about the appearance of the Catholic Church. These people are criminals and need to be put away for a very long time. If the church gets the appearance of a bunch of child molesting sickos then thats just too f***ing bad.

Is anyone surprised by this? The French didn't oppose the war on moral grounds, they were bought off ( in addition to the fact that they sold weapons to Iraq illegally ). Im waiting for Chirac to admit his level of complicity in this affair.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) s***, no kidding. I didn't know that part about the FBI. Sounds like a typical weekend for me. -
Any less than 20 and you could almost say they are blowing up the team. Most of these guys are gonna be back with us next season when we repeat.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) Ugh. Not this again. As a Christian myself. I'm sick of people who claim the mantle acting all oppressed when they get called out on being intolerant. Most of them aren't what their faith is all about to begin with. I went to Campus Crusade meetings in college and they didn't feel like they're making "progress" unless they're attacked so they provoke it to begin with. I personally think that if we're going to take a look at an example of what a faith should be in practice, I think we should look at someone like Jimmy Carter. Say what you will about his presidency, but there is a man who lives up to the faith he preaches every day. Maybe we should ask him if Christianity is under attack. But we don't. Because everyone knows that his answer might be grounded in reality. Instead we hear from blowhards like Bill O'Reilly who think that saying "Happy Holidays" in the Sears catalog is akin to burning the baby Jesus in effigy and Pat Robertson who advocates assassinating foreign leaders. We get people like Jerry Falwell who are quick to blame women for being too feminist as a main cause of the September 11th bombing and Fred Phelps who apparently hates everyone. If the Christian right wants to not be under attack, maybe it should stop attacking. You're so quick to point out people who are an embarassment like Robertson, Falwell etc...etc.... They do not represent mainstream Christianity and you know it. They are a tiny, yet vocal, minority. Those idiots do Christianity a disservice because their rediculous statements are just what the Christian bigots need so they can point their finger and say "That's the religous right". The people who I am talking about are everyday people who go to church, practice their religon and try to live their lives the right way only to have their beliefs dragged through the mud by a bunch of hypocrites who say tolerance out of one side of their mouth and "fundamentalist idiot" out of the other. Im sick and tired of people like Billie Joe s***bag, or whatever his name is running around bashing Christianity and getting heaps of praise from the left for doing it. I want to hear you answer for those on the left who go around, as I said before, calling anyone who reads a bible, gets within 50 feet of a church and votes Republican an idiot, fundamentalist, etc........etc......

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) Sadly that's something that merely appears to be true these days. In the last three years, the Bush administration has proposed cutting combat pay and closed dozens of VA Hospitals. Where are veterans' bread buttered? Not with our current government. Dead wrong on 1 count and debateable on the other. We spend far more money on the VA now than we did when Bush took office. The problem is that demand is outstripping those funding increases. As far as combat pay goes Secretary Rumsfeld, and Ive been over this before, proposed cutting back combat pays for those who serve is safe locations overseas such as Qatar, Baharian, Kuwait, etc.......etc and using those funds to go to increasing combat pay of soldiers serving in hot zones like Iraq and Afghanistan. Unfortunately that was seen as something it wasn't and never got off the ground.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Bashing anyone is not right. Any logical person will say that - Christian or otherwise. I understand what you are trying to say but I think you're overgeneralizing a bit. Basic moral values are held by anyone with a shred of intelligence, but, then again, people disagree on what these values are. What Im driving at is that I want to see the same level of uproar and outrage when someone bashes Christians as when other groups such as Muslims, Jews, Gays, Racial Minorities etc....etc... get trashed. Unfortunately, those who are so zealous at protecting racial, ethnic and religous minorities seem to think that bashing the majority is somehow acceptable. It's not.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) If you listen to other people on TV you'd swear being a liberal is being Castro's best friend. It goes both ways....if you plan to generalize people by listening to one extreme, there's no reason it can't go the other way. I'm gonna go to bed though....getting up in 6 hours. Point taken. However Im still waiting for someone to answer the question of why it's acceptable to bash Christians and their values and why those doing the bashing can call themselves tolerant at the same time and keep a straight face.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) There is a BIG difference between hating the ten commandments and not wanting it to be displayed on state/federal property. To listen to some people on TV and in print talk you'd think it was written by Satan himself.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Can you list some of these traditional values? I just want to see where you are coming from... Post 42 pretty well covered it. You want additional reference you can also look at the most horrible work of evil ever devised according to some..........The Ten Commandments.
-
BTW. PA was spot on with his thread title. Bigotry against Christians is the only bigotry that is tolerated in this country anymore and those who are the most guilty are those who preach tolerance of others the loudest. Someone gets on stage and sings about a bullet in the Koran and watch the left jump up and down screaming bloody murder. The hypocrasy of it all is mind blowing.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) I don't think that people are targeting traditional values...... Thats not true at all. Turn on your television and witness the assault first hand. Watch MTV for a half hour, watch a rap video, watch the latest installment of that stupid trading spouses show. Then I want you to watch what happens to anyone who stands up and says that stuff is wrong and see the reaction they get from the "mainstream" media. Watch how they are called, in no order, racist, sexist, intolerant, homophobic, pigs. Then you'll understand the point Im trying to make. People of faith are constantly being labeled as intolerant and stupid for standing up for what they believe in. You saw it all throughout the last election cycle too. Anyone who read the bible, got within 50 feet of a church and voted for Bush was labeled as a fundamentalist zealot who was as stupid as they were firm in their beliefs. I really have a problem with the left calling Christian Conservatives "stupid" like that.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) So you're saying n*****, f**, k*** or gook are in the same league as redneck or idiot? Words aren't just words, they have emotion, and in many cases hate behind them. k*** isn't a word, it's a derogatory slur with racism and hate attached to it. Does redneck have some sort of hate behind it? Sure it does, but it's not even close to racial and sexist slurs. I must have forgotten how Southern white males were persecuted throughout history in comparison to blacks, Jews, Irish and Asians. And it's not sad that I find many Christians completely lacking in logic. A spade is a spade, and someone who ignorantly believes that some people go to hell for their sexual beliefs or their lack of prayer don't deserve my time. Conservatives, especially the Christian wing, have a real problem with the fact that it seems to be ok to bash Christians. Its ok to ridicule Christians about their faith, ok to ridicule those who preach family values and most of all its ok to ridicule those who think that certain things ( kids having kids, parents killing their unborn children, music that denigrates women while promoting violence against cops AND women, drug abuse.....etc...etc ) are wrong and should not be tolerated. Don't get me wrong. I believe that those who believe in Old Testament fire and brimstone for "sinners" are an embarassment and constitute a small percentage of people of faith. However, the question that remains unanswered by the left is: Why is it that in this tolerance obsessed society we live in that there seems to be no tolerance for people who hold traditional values dear?

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Ok Nuke, is my observations wrong? Is my sample of people just that biased? Again, I'm talking about 4 people that I know PERSONALLY. One of them is pretty high up in the Air Force. I just want to know the TRUTH. Not some BS skewed, f***ed up version of what people THINK. The closest source I have to the truth are people who have been there that I know personally, and Kip, they ain't the type of ignorant people that can be fed some line of bull s***. I know what you're saying, and for some privates, that may be true that they can be told things that aren't true. But not in my personal case. Again, I'm asking these questions because I can't understand what's really going on other then what I have experienced first hand. You're not wrong. Like any other segment of the population people in uniform have a variety of viewpoints. By in large we're proud of our service and proud of what we're accomplishing over there. To those who don't have any concept of what it means to be a part of something bigger than yourself that makes us look like a bunch of mindless automotons. We're not, and to label us as such is as insulting as it is wrong It also gets on our nerves when people in the media misrepresent what we're doing over there. Whether they choose to ignore some things in favor of stuff thats not flattering or bring on "experts" who talk about things they would never have been entrusted with when they were in uniform the media does a horrible job of telling the whole story of what's going on there.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) Soldiers are largely Republican. I know that. The reason being is because Republicans have traditionally taken better care of the people in uniform. However, there are a lot of soldiers who think we have no business in Iraq but go anyway because it's their job.
-
QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) Come on, we all know where soldier's loyalties tend to lie, and just like a liberal newspaper has a bias, so do soldiers. I remember a documentary where each soldier they interviewed in Iraq said they were there was because Saddam struck them, and it was the right fight, so forgive me for being cynical. Where DO soldiers loyalties tend to lie? Is it to the Commander in Chief? Hardly. I joined the Army in 1998 and all I heard about those last few years of Clinton was about how everybody despised the man.

I dont get throwing it way downfield like that. Pick up 10 yards or so and make it a more realistic FG try. -

I shut the game off when it was 7-7. What happened to McNabb?!? BTW..........That was a brutal drop that would have set up Philly for the winning FG. -

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) That routine works perfect for us. My wife's parents like to eat early in the day so we go over there first. Then we head over to my parents house, eat again and sit and play cards all night long. Yeah, then you spend the rest of the weekend on the tredmill working off the double dose of turkey and stuffing.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) All Venezuelans are like that. I think Ozzie's been giving the boss down there a few pointers on how to deal with other people. Next thing you know Chavez is going to refer to Fox as "That Mexican f***"
