This is one streak the Sox have had that doesn't get a lot of attention so I thought Id see how long you guys think he can keep it going.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) Those walks in the 9th tonight did give me a bit of a scare though. Out of all the guys in the pen there's nobody I trust to get out of a jam more than Hermey.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) That inning was what Big John couldn't do last year. Now that he can...he's got a shot at pitcher of the month in the AL for 2 straight months. Johan...eat your heart out. Speaking of Johan.........he got RAWKED!!!!! tonight by Toronto.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) Jon eff'ing Garland... I think digging up the "Jon Garland for a bag of balls" threads would provide lots of laughs tonight. Go get 'em tomorrow, Buehrle! Not a bad idea LOL!

QUOTE(Fotop @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) Another sign of Judy never showing her face again: 2nd and 3rd no one out, Jon gets two k's and a popup to maintain the lead. Hell yes, Jon! Keep it up! Let's take the series tommorow, Buerhle v. Drese MB is gonna own the Rangers. Book it.

Let's take the series tommorow, Buerhle v. Drese That was every bit as kickass as that K of Tejada to end a threat against Baltimore. Garland f***ing ROCKS!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(knightni @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Thomas should bat 5th behind Paulie. Paulie would see better pitches then. (He'd see them go by and be called strikes though, I'm afraid.) :headshake ..........then get out the 4 iron and go after pitches in the dirt.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 17, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) Did you miss my point completely.... I said he is doing the job with the players he has been working with.... and .262 isnt good but like i said its an improvement for Crede. Too bad credepopsup's average has dropped like a stone ever since that 2 week period of non-suckage ended for him. Hes lost what, like 50 points off his average?

Lets have a nice turnout in the chat like we did last night. The place was really jumping the whole game. -
QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) Losses make my more angry this year for some reason. I guess I'm starting to expect a win. When they have lost this year, it has been close. Often, I can remember one key decision (leaving Freddie in 7th vs O's) and it pisses me off. It shouldn't but it does. I think the more I'm into the games, the worse the losses are. Wins are sweeter though. I'm with ya there. This year the bar is set far higher than it has been in years past.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) Mods can we pin my first game thread. Maybe the luck of the Irish can break this mini-losing streak. MAKE THEM EAT s*** JON. RIP EM!!!!!!!! -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 16, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) No. Not even close. If we're gonna put Roid Boy Bonds in the HOF then someone like Maris certainly deserves it IMHO.
-
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) One blown lead is too many, but the Sox have blown quite a few leads over the past 3 games. Hopefully, the next 2 will go in the "W" column, then we go pillage the North Side for another 3 in the "W" column! Thats the spirit!!!!
-
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) Part of the problem in the past few days IMO is that the Sox are trying to get the benchwarmers some PT. Had all of the starters been out there for the past 3 games, I think they would've won at least one, and probably two. Why not get the bench guys some time? Timo and Pablo aren't doing any worse than Dead are they? The Gooch benefited from half a day off with what was one of the most kickass at bats I've ever seen. Personally I can't wait for G-Load to get back so we can sit Konerko for a couple of games. If anyone needs a day off on this team it's Konerko.
-
QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) When Rowand is in the 2/3 hole, he seems to be on his game offensively...so lets f***ing leave him there. Not like anyone else has stepped up and taken control of the spot. AROW, Gooch, Pods and to a lesser extent AJ ( That slam tonight was the schiznit!!!!!!! ) basically ARE the offense these days. Kong, Dead, Everett, credepopsup and even Uribe as of late are really struggling.
-
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) also, our fans couldn't be more behind konerko. The stadium erupts when he comes up in a clutch situation. You can tell we haven't given up on him and want him to come through so bad. Too bad he dissapoints so much. You gotta hand it to the faithful out there. Kong has done nothing but dissappoint in the clutch and yet they give him all they can cheering for him. One of these days he's gonna have to start giving them something to cheer about.
-
QUOTE(elrockinMT @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) This was a tough one to accept. We must be in that little slump right now, and the stellar starting pitching has not been there. They have surrendered 9, 6 and 7 runs respectively, but tonights performance by El Dookie must be the worse. He couldn't even get out of the 3rd. The relief pitching was a plus until Marte gave up another homer. It makes you wonder who will have the most homers at the end of the season? Our hitters or the pitchers? We need to get some of these hitters out of their slumps and I don't know what to make of it. Konerko back in 2003 form; Crede sucks; Everett stinks; Dye is dead. No consistency except being bad. Anyway that's the obvious and hopefully these guys get on track soon. Garland might be our stopper by ending this 3 game skid tomorrow. I saw this game on ESPN and it was exciting enough, but I would love to see Jon pitch. Go Sox. I know you have to expect and accept slumps, but any loss is hard to take. I was yelling for Politte last night and the night before...........tonight is the reason why. He totally shut down TX when he was in there and made it look easy.
-
QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) Thank you for the foresight, great one!! As if Crede hitting .262 right now is our biggest concern...hey how about we look at the fact that our 3-4-5 hitters are COMBINED hitting .222 coming into tonights game...how can anyone be afraid of the Heart of our order? Lets focus on what the real problem is here....Crede is far from our greatest liability. Much as Crede is sucking lately I totally agree that Kong Everett and Dead are absolutely killing this team. On the bright side though AROW is starting to heat up.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) El Duque was hanging by a thread in nearly every start he had this year. It's just a matter of time before his 6 IP, 2 ER games become 5 IP, 5 ER. I called that long ago and everyone jumped down my throat about it. I would say its nice to be vindicated but not when its like this.
