QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 2, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) It's amazing how easy maggs has got off so easy with all his bulls*** when ozzie has been getting ripped to shreds for his stuff. People all over the country who don't know what really happened are only getting half this story, which kind of sucks. Did Mariotti just call the cell a inferiority complex again? Yes he did.......the cock sucker.

He just said Oz was " out of his mind" I would cause him dogs*** but he's more like whats left of dogs*** after the flies are through with it.

Konerko contract year....want him back?
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 2, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) Welcome to the board Hideaway Lights! Aboz and I were talking about Kong yesterday, and we agreed we wouldn't mind seeing him come back. However, Konerko shouldn't get more than 3 years/$24M. Kong has had some awesome years with us so far and I think this one will be another one. A 1 month slump does not a season make. Hopefully him and DEAD can get their act together and put up some big numbers for us. -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 2, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) How exactly has manufacturing runs helped us in April? We've gotten lucky that our pitching has been so good -- which, was a good job by Kenny (and not really noted enough in the article, IMO). Other than the fact that he mentions the pitching staff coming back to earth, yet doesn't mention the offense getting it back together (after an awful April), I have no problems with the article. We were off to a hot start last year, and nothing came of it. I will say, though, I'm ten times more confident in this year's team than in last year's team. You're forgetting something though. If you put aside the last 2 games of the 3 game losing streak we just snapped we have had timely hitting and have been able to get a run or 2 when we needed to. Even in the 1st loss to Oakland we had 2 leads of 3 runs or greater but the pitching just wasn't there and the Umps hosed us a couple of times. This, of course, is early in the season. I look forward to much better production out of the offense once the weather warms up.

Garland Haters and Lovers prior to 05'
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(BigNDfan80 @ May 2, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) I've always loved Jon Garland, but hated Judy Garland. He has apparently locked Judy Garland in the closet so far this year. Seems that Judy has been exorcised from Garland's body and has taken up residence in the body of Jared Wright of the Spankees. -
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) Defense lawyer Rick Hernandez said last week that the defense will present evidence during sentencing that England has severe learning disabilities and mental health problems. Can I be the first to say -- Then how the f*** did she get into the military?! I know there's a few blithering idiots in the military but this looks to me like a horses*** insanity type defense.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) I don't really like the idea of having a rotation that makes $40-50 million annually either though We'll get a lot more punch out of that 50 million dollar rotation than the Spankees are getting with their 100 million dollar rotation.
-
QUOTE(3E8 @ May 2, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) I know he did in '03. I also know it wasn't pretty. He was straight up FUGLY in the field when he played out there that one game this year. That's the only thing that's bugging me about when Frank returns because both of them are horrible in the field.
-
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 2, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) Does anyone see Cleveland getting hot in the middle of the season again? Nope. For all the hype around them and Detoilet neither of them are going anywhere this season. The reason is pitching. We are 3rd in the MLB in pitching and 1st in the AL while those two are in the middle of the pack with team ERA a full point higher than ours. As long as that remains the case they aren't going anywhere.

QUOTE(The Critic @ May 2, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) August could also be kind of a b**** for the Sox. Minny twice, Mariners twice, Rangers at Arlington, Red Cubs at Boston, post-trade deadline Spankees twice, and Blue Jays. Not very easy, I don't think. Tough but I think we can handle it. Minny & Toronto will defenitely be tough but we can handle the Mariners & Red Sox. Spankees and their 100 million dollar rotation aren't worth a s*** either. The matchup I really want to see is us versus the Orioles. Two top teams in the AL us with our pitching versus them and their hitting.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) Of course this won't last. If it did Garland would have a season for the ages. I'm not unrealistic here. I do feel like he'll have the first of many damn good years though. Do any of you guys think that this being his contract year has anything to do with it?
-
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) I think the futuristic police killed that movie for me, especially when they're singing that armour hot dog bulls***? That made watching Wesley Snipes mop up the floor with them all the more entertaining.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) I dunno why, but sometimes I miss Brando... I mean, that thread is pure comedy. Judy got molested? Holy s***, put that dude down as hater extraordinare. Why did Brando get banned anyway? I musta missed it. -
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) Wesley Snipes, Passenger 57. Decent movie, I'll watch it if nothing else is on. I like the one goon. Nah. Demolition Man was a better movie of his.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) Aside from all the more-than-expected Rondell White bashing...was anyone else extremely happy to see the Sox pitchers finally respond? We've spent like 6 games being nailed left and right by baseballs, to the point that it's literally hurting quite a few of our guys. Thanks for sending a message John...I don't want to see our guys getting nailed the whole season on this junk just because people think they can. I was beginning to wonder how many more batters needed to be hit by these bottom feeders before we responded in kind. I only wish Garland had bounced a fastball off that asshole's noggin.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) ROTFL!!!! I can't stop laughing at that. Either that or he can steal a car..........or being that it's detoilet maybe he can set a building on fire just for kicks.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 1, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) Well next time we play them we should just throw another one behind him if it's that easy to get him out of his game. f*** that s***. Bounce a fastball right off his big, fat, noggin.
-
QUOTE(3E8 @ May 1, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) Let's turn this into a "What would your home run call sound like?" thread. *jumping up and down hysterically* "ITS OUTTA HERE!!!!!! EAT s*** MOTHERf***ERS!!!!!!!!!HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA" Or something like that. After I stop yelling you'll hear glasses clinking as me and the color guy toast some JD shots.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 1, 2005 -> 11:34 PM) Good post. Garland trusts the catchers, and he's said as much. Credit KW and OG for acquiring and keeping these two. In theory, you'd think Sandy Alomar would have been as effective, but his CERA was nothing to brag about. Garland trusts the defense. Credit KW and OG for putting a decent defensive team behind him. However, I think Garland has finally gotten the self confidence he needed. Maybe the changes to the team were the catalyst that helped him get there, but I've always believed he would, eventually, be a solid major league pitcher. It doesn't surprise me he's doing well. He has everything to gain, nothing to lose, no pressure and came in with low expectations. Hopefully he can keep up his carefree attitude all season.
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) Yea, you are lucky he didn't hit you. You would've been flat on your ass. And had you tried to charge the mound, Garland would've planted you. :fyou Rondell [end of rant] Rondell is a little b**** boy. Go back to Detoilet and rob a liquor store or something. ASSHOLE!!!

QUOTE(Cy Garland @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) DJ's contract is up after this year if anyone was wondering. PLEASE!!!!!!! Bring back Whimpy!!!

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 1, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) ...can we please give the Cy Garland thing a rest? Not while he's pitching like this.
