Putting your money where your mouth is.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 01:26 AM) You hope that this is actually a Democracy, and if people start overstepping their bounds based on political grudges, they'll wind up losing elections. Had the Dems not done this, it would have cost them dearly. Agreed. One of their biggest talking points is this supposed "culture of corruption" that the Republicans are responsible for in Washington. I dont buy it really. Both parties have bad apples and I think they have done a good job of purging them from their ranks. -
Illegal border crossings down sharply.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 01:23 AM) Just out of curiosity, how exactly are they able to come up with that number? I can't imagine that there's a booth where they stop and fill out a border crossing exit poll Supposedly they base this off apprehensions. -
The latest craze in abortion law...

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) Ok, here's another situation. Are you against young mothers who live in poor conditions, in poverty, and in bad neighborhoods deciding to have an abortion because they know they will not be able to raise a child properly? What are the odds that a child in those conditions will grow up one day to become a "thug" ( a person who breaks any law according to you and nuke?) WIll you admit that it is much more likely for a child to become a "thug" when he/she is raised in a crappy environment, through poverty, without a father figure, and/or a young mother? I'm surprised nuke isn't in favor of forcing all convicted felons, murderers, and sex offenders to have abortions because they are sick f***s and their offspring will probably become a "thug" too. He loves to talk about taking their rights away. Whats this nonsense about taking people's rights away? If you mean taking away their "right" to be coddled by a weak justice system and their "right" to exploit loopholes in the law to dodge a conviction for criminal activity then yeah, Im all for it. My biggest problem with abortion is its use as a last-ditch form of contraception. Im not an unreasonable person when it comes to this issue. I realize that it is sometimes necessary to save the life of the mother and I don't have any issues with the morning-after pill either but this business of killing a child because the parents dont want to raise it is sick and asinine and should be stopped. -
According to several television reports illegal border crossings are down sharply over this time last year ( I've heard as much as 21% ). Does this change the minds of any of those who opposed this measure?

Personally I dont care where Pablo plays just so long as he's in the lineup. Its like he's out there batting with a telephone pole instead of a baseball bat. Hes hitting EVERYTHING.

Anyone else following this? Ozuna is totally on fire lately and is making Podsednik look like doggy do do. I say he gets more time out there at Pod's expense.

Anyone who is involved in kicking in doors of a potentially hostile residence will tell you that the element of surprise is EVERYTHING. I've kicked in a few doors in places a lot more hostile than Alabama and if we thought there were bad guys with guns behind the door we went in with no warning and we went in violently and that is the way to save lives. If the entry force has the element of surprise then most often the house can be secured without a shot being fired. This saves lives on both sides. Those who see this is as a rights issue, which it's really not, simply don't know what they're talking about. -
QUOTE(juddling @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) found this online ....... West Bank Family upset by Michigan Teen's No-Show JERICHO, West Bank (AP) -- Relatives of a West Bank man are distraught that his wedding to his American girlfriend is off at least for now. Katherine Lester slipped out of her mother's house in Gilford, Michigan, last week and boarded a flight to Israel. The mother of her prospective groom was waiting there to take her to Jericho. But U.S. authorities tracked down the 16-year-old high school honors students in Jordan, and forced her to go home. Lester has been in seclusion since returning late Friday. Lester had met 20-year-old Abdullah Jinzawi over the Internet. He paid for her plane ticket to the Mideast. He told WNEM that he's a wealthy businessman. His family still hopes to eventually bring the couple together. i think this chick would have disappeared and never be heard from again. 50 bucks says she ended up on some terrorist highlight reel with a sword hanging over her neck. Wealthy businessman. HAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!!!!! Selling stuff on the side of the road dont count my friend.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/06/15/jef...ucus/index.html Its funny as hell to see the Congressional Black Caucus scream like stuck pigs over this issue. They dont give 2 s***s that this guy is dirty and is almost certainly going to go to prison, no. All they care about is that he's black and he's getting booted off his committee. Sad really, but I expect no less from this bunch. -
Flag burning amendment headed to Senate floor.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) It's the tyrrany of the majority that the founders warned about. The Bill of Rights is supposed to protect unpopular speech. Irony level that a military guy is going against the Bill of Rights = infinity Tyranny of the majority? Last time I checked a constitutional amendment requires 2/3ds of BOTH houses to get passed plus ratification by 38 states. Thats a huge hurdle to pass. Its not like W or Republican leaders can just dream something up one day, pass it the next and have it be in the constitution on a whim. Stop already. -
QUOTE(soxman352000 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) Another game lost to the Astros and they are now 13 games under .500 LMFAO!!!! Seems the only 2 teams they can beat with any regularity is STL and the Reds.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) Lying, cowardly b****. If it passes, maybe the newly legion flag burners will be spared punishment under the reasoning that no flag is a fitting emblem for display any more, given that it no longer stands for s***. LOL!!!! Bitter aren't we. -
This whole case is a crock of s*** that is falling down around them. It will be dismissed any day now.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) Unfortunately the US Code of Military Justice does care and it is why a lot of people are being brought forth for charges and being successfully convicted. And torture is notoriously unreliable for information because they are likely just to give info to appease the interrogator rather than it be anything factual. Plus torture is completely anti-thetical to the concepts, precepts and all ideas that we, as a civilized society, hold dear. But other than that, it's just fine. But back on topic -- why are you so against flag burning when you and your colleagues are out defending the freedom of a society, especially one that includes the protected idea to burn a flag if one so pleases? If you don't like flag burning, do what I do. Don't burn one. Flag-burning is a universally despised method of disrespect towards our country and enough people, on both sides of the aisle, agree that it is an unacceptable form of protest. Unfortunately, the practice has stood up in court based on the 1st amendment so people who dont like it are taking the step of getting an amendment passed. This is nothing more than a prime example of working within the system to change something that should be changed. -

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 06:40 PM) Bad ruling, bad law. And I wouldnt test the "shooting a police officer in self-defense". My guess is if you shoot the police officer, they are going to shoot you. And the only court case you are going to be seeing is in probate. Ah well, natural extension of "new" conservative theory. Privacy rights are trampled for the "good" of the whole. If the police are going to enter your house they are going in with guns drawn and ready to shoot. They are well trained and if some jackass decides he wants to take a shot at them, he's gonna die trying. I couldn't disagree more with your assessment. If the Police have a warrant to enter your house then they obviously have a legitimate cause and reason to search it. All the ID and knocking does is allow criminals time to flush drugs or hide other incriminating evidence. Nobody's rights are being trampled here. -

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) There isn't a rash of flag burnings in America. Hell, I can't even think of one case in recently history (after 1990) where there has been a flag burning in America. It is nothing more than a cheap, tawdry political maneuver by career politicians who don't want to have voters look at issues like the problems in Iraq, psychological/physical torture being used by the CIA and certain members trained by the CIA in the US Army, the problems with the economy, et al. Justice Brennan: “Punishing desecration of the flag dilutes the very freedom that makes this emblem so revered, and worth revering.” I dont give a rats ass if the CIA and military are torturing people. As far as Im concerned, Radical Islamo-fascists have the right to be mowed down by machine gun fire and to have physical pain inflicted on them to produce information so that more of them can be mowed down. Problems with the economy? As far as I can see all we need to do is cut some spending. Aside from that we're in really REALLY good shape. Deal with the immigration issue also ( Which is being done ). -

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Maybe among Democrats. Having a more conservative VP to offset a more liberal nominee would have some impact among Republican voters. How much is debateable, though. Who among the Dems would beat Lieberman if he was the GOP nominee? Hillary? Gore? Kerry? Edwards? Neither party seems to have a strong, front-running candidate right now (unless Guiliani would change his mind). McCain? -
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/06/15/fla...t.ap/index.html 66 senators have committed to voting for it and passage is all but assured in the House. 1 MORE SENATOR PLEASE STEP UP AND GET THIS PASSED!!!!!

So I dont see what was the point of bringing it up? The point is that she was going to do it after talking to this guy on the internet a few times. LOL!

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 08:07 AM) Put them in Tamms Supermax. Nothing soft ass about it. If it were as simple as that I would be all for it. Trouble is that you'd be in the US and all these American Criminal Liberties Union lawyers would be scratching and clawing trying to get them in front of a civillian court.

The latest craze in abortion law...

QUOTE(minors @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:44 AM) A CHILD IS A CHILD there it doesnt matter to me how far along it is. So that is why I abstain. If the women is raped yes it is still murder and family same goes for a family member and anytime the mothers life in jeopardy then it isn't It becomes a life saving procedure. Now why are people like Cerbaho, Heads, Lowercase, Rex and the liberals against the Death Penalty that kills thugs but yet gleefully defend abortion or "right to choose"? A killers life is more worth saving that an innocent helpless baby? Thats one thing about leftists that disgusts me more than anything else. They go on and on calling executions state sponsored murder but killing babies is perfectly acceptable to them. :rolly Just out of curiosity Id like to know how many babies are murdered via abortion versus how many criminals are executed. Methinks that innocent children are getting slaughtered at a much higher rate.
