I think it's doubtful he would have made the HOF. 133-119 career with a 4.12 era. The years in Colorado hurt him ERA-wise. He only won 20 games once, never won a Cy Young. He would probably have had to dominate for the next 5-6 years to be considered.

I don't know if anyone saw it on Sportscenter, but they had the Sunday Conversation with Darryl Kile's wife, this week being the one year anniversary of his death. They also talked to his kids a little, he had two five year-old twins and a ten month-old. Just painful to see something like that.

I think you are overrating Kerry Wood a bit. He's never been an all-star, it's possible he might make it this year because of dusty but i don't see how 6-5 with a 3.06 era makes him an "all-star lights-out flamethrower".

re: marte's last outing against boston where he went 1 2/3 scoreless. boston hit about four line drives off of him that happened to be caught. i think magglio had a sliding catch, willie had the one up against the wall where he bounced off, and carlos caught one about a foot away from the wall. something is up with damaso but i don't second guess manuel's decision to bring him in. we were up two against the giants late and colon let it slip and manuel caught hell. it's like he's in a no-win situation. marte is supposed to be the setup guy, and today he didn't set up anything but a cubs win. if this game had been against oakland or toronto etc i doubt people would be this upset.

he left colon in against the giants and they wound up scoring 6 runs that inning. i can't really blame manuel for this one. no clutch hitting, marte didnt get the job done. not manuel's fault.

I've enjoyed Friday Night Fights the last couple years, the lower classes seem more artful. A real good boxing match can be as entertaining as NFL. There doesn't even have to be a knockout for it to be entertaining, as long as it's hard-fought.

it took too long to get to the action. nobody came to this movie so they could cry, they came to see s*** get broken. that doesn't happen til like an hour in, and meanwhile all the flashbacks and heavy breathing wears on you. i didn't really care about any of the characters, jennifer connelly was hot but she kept being a stupid b****. nick nolte was just retarded, the general was annoying. even banna got on my nerves with his pussiness. if only i could be stan lee and make billions of dollars writing about radiation + animals + people.
