i don't want to argue in that thread so i'm bringing it to a new one. we only had around a hundred die in afghanistan. Iraq and 9/11 HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ONE ANOTHER Our media tried to make these two thing related but they are completley different.

i think that it takes less thought to kill a man when you are using a gun. Yes i'm sure that their would be an increase in these other crimes, but that increase would still be lower in total than the numbers of crimes before the ban. Here's the problem i have been having with the pro gun argument. Why do we need guns? Yes you can use guns for totally legal purposes, but i think the negative aspect of guns outweighs the positive.

Actually i would rather of had us invade saudi arabia, there just as bad as the taliban was

Basically what i am saying is that if we were to outlaw guns, i would expect the # of deaths from guns to be cut in half by 2014

To address you national speed limit concern: The german autobahn has proven that you must make speed laws based on the road to which they are to be applied. I agree that target shooting is fun, but perhaps we could use bullets designed specifically for those guns, i know little of balistics, but if clay or rubber could be used, i'm am fine with their use. We are not punishing anyone, we are simply removing the use of guns. No one would be worse off if we were to remove all guns. If we were to use the japan statistic and double it to match that of the population of the united states. 80 deaths in a no gun society to 11,000 in a gun society. We could save 11,000 lives annualy by removing the ability to own a firearm. So here is the question 11,000 lives saved or the right to own a gun? I have answered that question and i am interested in what others think

I don't understand how you can come to that conclusion. Who on here knew what alqueda was before sept 11th? i did but that is because i have always had an interest in terrorism. (no i am not a terrorist ) Alqueda isn't the only terrorist organization in the middle east.(although our government wants you to believe otherwise). I think if we are going to talk about the largest terrorist group in the middle east, it is hard to say anything other than Hamas. To be clear. I am not saying that muslims don't commit terrorism. They make up a fifth of the worlds population. What i am saying is that terrorism is not limited to muslims, it is a global problem that needs to be stopped. I don't think that the correct solution is to spend billions on security, and tear up the united states constitution. I think that we have to address why terrorists do the things they do. Why are they angry at us? What if we started to stop deviding people, and insted brought everyone together. I'm just a political science major though, What the hell do i know?

Why do you like to make up figures in your head. 99%. Well I4E lets take a look at american terrorism over the last 10 years. No if i'm wrong call me on it, but i remember oklahoma city, and waco, and columbine, and i think they were all christian. Muslims represent over 1/5th of the worlds population, so yes they will account for at least 1/5th of the terrorist acts. I think if you did some research you would find that terrorist acts come from every religion. An example would be liberation theology in south america. It is not supported by the catholic church, yet their members commit terrorist acts for religious gain. So please stop attacking the islamic people as a whole, without first looking at the facts
