  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan56789 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) You dont have to watch every single second of a game to be a knowledgeable fan. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> By being knowledgeable I would like to include the knowledge of ball game ettiquite. I have found out from this thread that most Sox fans do not have this knowledge or just couldn't care less about it. That is what I am talking about when I say knowledge, it just doesn't include all the stats you have in your head.
  2. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 05:31 PM) whatever... you still missed my point that CLUELESS PEOPLE ARE EVERYWHERE... why does it surprise you that clueless people would be at a sox game??? and like I said this doesn't make it right that people walked in front of you... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It suprises me because we as Sox fans take pride in being very knowledgeable. By seeing what I saw on Tuesday night gave me the feel that we are attracting more "Cub fan types". People that are not going primarily to the game to watch the game, but rather to have a good time or party atmosphere. I don't want our park to be full of these "wrigley types". I like the fact that our fans love the game and like to watch the game. What I saw on Tuesday night is something I have not seen before at a Sox game. It was half priced night and maybe that has something to do with it. However, reading all the comments made on this board it seems as though this is the way Sox fans are. It is very disappointing to me.
  3. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) so i guess i told you when to post..... :banghead <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You made it clear that if it was that bad I would have posted much sooner. Yes, to me that is telling me when to post, because to you I waited too long to post.
  4. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) i don't remember "telling you when to post" i do remember telling you there are clueless people everywhere... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I do remember you stating that if it was that bad I would have vented sooner: I guess what you are saying is that I am taking this comment the wrong way?
  5. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) This is a silly thread. Are we still, after 9 pages, talking about people walking in the aisle? I understand the smoke. That makes sense. But to still be complaining about the aisles? Sorry folks, I have kids, if my daughter (age 7) has to use the bathroom, YOU can be bothered by my taking her to the facility. I am NOT in the 5th grade anymore, and I do NOT need your approval if I go to the bathroom or not. Sorry. People get up to use the bathroom during movies, but I don't yell at them. If you are a part of a "society" you need to learn to adapt, and understand. Sometimes people need to get up. If it is the same person over and over again, then there is a problem. But if you are complaining about just people in general, maybe you should try living in a cave where nobody will bother you. If my comments have been mentioned, I apologize for being redundant. But this is without a doubt the silliest complaint I have read yet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is exactly why we need the ushers to stay at the top of the aisles and wait until play has stopped for any reason. When that happens then they can allow you to go back to your seat. I am sorry that your 7 year old daughter can't hold it for a minute. If it really is a must and you have to get up and leave for the bathroom then that is fine, but you should not be allowed back down until play has stopped.
  6. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) let me get this straight... you went to tuesday night's game and it took you till thursday at 4 pm to complain... if it was that bad you probably would have vented sooner... did you say anything to an usher/security...about the smoking .. or did you just complain to us??? and as far as people not paying attention to what's going on around them... and walking everywhere... you've got to be kidding me... do you ever go out of the house??? go anywhere.. ANYWHERE.. and you will find clueless people.. the highway.. the bears games.. the bars.. the trains.. the grocery store.. the mall... you name it ... people just don't pay attention... get used to it... it is not something that is exclusive to your experience at the cell... go anywhere and it will probably take you about 5 minutes to encounter someone who is completely oblivious to his/her surroundings... this doesn't make it right... you just have to get out of the house more and realize it happens everywhere... EVERYWHERE..... I was in sec159row2 tuesday night and had a great time with my wife and one-yr old... and guess what... there were plenty of clueless people out there too.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Please don't tell me when to post. I have other things to attend to other than this message board. If you don't know that people have other things going on in their life than this message board then maybe you should get out of the house more often. Thursday at 4 PM was the time I had after my awful experience at the game. I have never encountered this at a Bears game and I have been to plenty of them. I am not trying to watch a live game at trains, or stores of any kind. TVs are pretty high at bars, so I highly doubt it will blck my view if someone is walking in front of me. I could see if I was on here constantly complaining about things wrong with the sox or their stadium or people in general, however I never have. I have always liked the stadium, I have never had a problem like this in the past, and I have never complained about the Sox organization. I am not a constant complainer. You would think that when someone that does not complain a lot has a complaint it would be taken more seriously. However, it seems as some people love to be self centered and will continue to be so.
  7. QUOTE(TLAK @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) In the long run, thats probably what will happen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And that is what should happen.
  8. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 07:34 AM) Exactly. But it's also a matter of how you present the situation. If you come on here to moan and complain, that just makes you look about as bad as the people who were doing it. The key is ACTION. Whether it be rudely confronting the person or politely making you point, doing something, in my opinion, is better than just complaining that you're not getting your way. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And you know I did not present these problems to an usher how? I simply came on here and posted what happened at the ball park. If it was a couple of times I would not be on here talking about it. It was a continuous issue throughout the game and I found it simply annoying and it ruined the whole enjoyment of the game for me. I came on here to post and see what others thought about this situation AND to see if there was something we can do to help this situation in the future for myself and other fans like me that go to ACTUALLY WATCH THE GAME. If it was to call the White Sox and notify them of the situation, write them a letter, or whatever some fans suggested. I never thought that it was as common and all of this inconsiderate behavior was so rampant through our entire fan base. After posting on here it seems that most people in our fan base, especially the younger ones, not only are inconsiderate, but don't care that they are and some actually enjoy doing it. I was simply trying to find a solution to this problem because I know it affects more than just myself as my thread's topic clearly asks the question "What can we do about this?". This was not about a select few getting up in front of me or coming down the same row as I was sitting in. This is about a ton of fans getting up and down in the aisles getting food, drink, going to the bathroom, coming back from or going to smoke, or what have you while play is going on. It was a consistent behavior that made the game an awful experience. I just wish that those of you that do this can now realize that it ruins the game for everyone around you. Just think about it for a little bit and think of how ignorant that this kind of behavior is. Maybe you will think twice about doing it and have a little consideration for the others around you that go to the ball game to ACTUALLY WATCH THE GAME.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) At Blackhawk games-if you try to come back to your seat while the game is going on, they do not let you back until there is a stoppage in play. I have encountered this problem, and usually its not too bad. But if you get the person who is intent on dropping $200 on concessions it will make for a pretty miserable evening if you are trying to watch the game. My advice is to sit in the Club level if you can. Not as many people, and even fewer who are trying to make the Guiness Book of World Records for beer consumption. With the smoking, get an usher or security, and they will put a quick stop to it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I love the club seats! My favorite seat in the park.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) Your telling me that 90% of the time, someone was standing in front of you? BS <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 90% of the time people were walking up and down the stairs while play was going on. That is no BS. I never said people were just standing there did I? If I did then please show me this statement and I will correct it before it is misunderstood by anyone else. 90% of the time I was stretching my neck around some morons walking up and down the stairs while play was going on. Whether that was a pitch, a throw, a fly ball, a base hit, or what have you, it was 90% of the time. Believe or don't believe whatever the hell you want. I really don't give a s***.
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxfan56789 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) They miss approxomitly 2 seconds of game while i miss a half inning. :rolly <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If everyone is like you then it becomes more than 2 seconds doesnt it?
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Welcome to the 21st century SSI. People don't give up their seats for the elderly, cars drive in the leftlane at 50, people talk on cellphones at the movies, and not many people know what hockey rules are when it comes to seating areas at sporting events. This isn't a USCF thing, its an American society thing. It happens everywhere, everyday, and it isn't going to go away. People are inconsiderate of everyone but themselves. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree with you SS2K5, but can't we do something about this? What if we as a board posted some things about ballpark etiquette. Maybe this board can help educate the younger generation. We can't help the casual fan here, but we can help the younger ones and they can teach their friends. I am very shocked at the posts on this board and thought that our fans had more consideration for others. I guess I was wrong.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan56789 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) But like people said you paid to watch a game, why should you have to wait for the end of the inning to go back to your seat and miss that half inning or whatever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Common courtesy, because others around you are also trying to watch the same game you are.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan56789 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) Ok so then when their is a break you have to run all the way down the stairs to whatever row your in dive through the people and make it to your seat in time for the next batter to sit without spilling your food. Ill try that next time <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If your seat is that far away then wait until the next 1/2 inning break. Is it really that big of a deal? Where did all of this go? This is the way I know everyone grew up. What happened that people don't know this? How did it get so bad?
  15. QUOTE(TLAK @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) If you don't like it go to the ballet and enjoy your orange juice at intermission. It's a freaking baseball game, what did you expect? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wonderful post. I expected nothing less from you TLAK.
  16. QUOTE(whitesoxfan56789 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) To be honest Im not really paying too much attention to the game when im comin back with food and stuff. Im more concentrated on finding my seat and not tripping and dropping my food than to make sure someone is batting. And if you are standing in the aisle waiting isnt that probably affecting someone's view anyways then if you go sit down and get out of the way completey? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Your not supposed to stand in the aisle. Your supposed to wait at the top. NO?
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) Instead of continuing this s***, I'm going to ignore your stupid ass. Your neck was made for stretching so quit your b****ing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am just asking for your D-U-M-B A-S-S to sit until there is a S-T-O-P in play. What is so hard to U-N-D-E-R-S-T-A-N-D. Just a little common C-O-U-R-T-E-S-Y. P-L-E-A-S-E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) Your going to get this kind of experience at any sporting event. When i go with my dad to games he will always get so upset over the whole standing up thing. Yeah it sucks, but its going to happen if you go to the game. It's not that big of a deal. Move your head, you'll be fine. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's a bunch of crap. I was stretching my neck for 90% of the game. What the hell happened to people? It can't be this bad can it? This is really f***ed up!!
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) Clarify yourself next time. Common sense here please. I just think you expect too much from 18,000 people. When I was at the game in Milwaukee there was a group of idiot Brewers fans in front of us who stood up most of the game and all 10 of them had signs which they would hold up during the game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For you, I will clarify everything. I will continue to assume that you have no common sense and everything will be spelled out for you from here on out. Because a group of fans do that to you does not make it right. It is not something you have to deal with or something that is part of the game. If they are holding up signs while a play is going on then they should be told to put the f***ing thing down. I don't care what people choose to do in between at-bats or during a stop in play. When play is going on then I would like some common consideration. I WANT TO WATCH THE GAME!!!
  20. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) grow the f*** up and if you have a problem then move to a dif row were no1 is seating. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And where would this be? the upper deck? How about if you just throw all the low lifes, such as yourself, that think this is appropriate behavior to the upper deck. That would make everyone's experience so much better.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) Umm, they're going to and from the food stands and bathrooms. And when people get up in front of you, they are walking, not standing in most cases. It's not like they were standing the whole time, were they? (And if people who are standing up behind you are bothering you, thats a little bit weird. Common sense here please.) It's just part of being in a big group of people. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So do you know what you are talking about any longer? I was responding to the smoke being blown in my face. Common sense here please. Neither of these things I am talking about just happen to be "part of being in a big group of people." It is called considerationg for others around you.
  22. QUOTE(Nokona @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) Quit being such an elitist and grow up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This makes me an elitist in what way? I am asking for common courtesy, a little ball park etiquette. This makes me an elitist?
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) I'm sure it was 90% of the game. You said you were the only people in your row, how can people be blowing smoke in your face? People walking up and down the aisle doesn't distract me at all. They are gone in the blink of an eye. And you said nobody else was in your row so you obvisously didn't have people getting up and trying to get by you at any point. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So no one sits in the rows behind or in front of me? Common sense here please. Where would the people be walking up and down the aisles from?
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxfan56789 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) 99.9% of the time if you go get food or go to the bathroom it takes longer than the break in between innings and im sure as hell not waiting for the next break to go sit down. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you wouldn't then that is an asshole move IMO.
  25. QUOTE(sickness212 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) If you don't like it, then goto Wrigley, yuppie. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Unreal! This is our fan base? You really don't understand do you? You are ruining the game for others around you. Maybe you should go to yuppie Wrigley ont he Northside because you would fit right in. There are 30,000 other fans over there exactly like you that don't give a s*** about what is going on on the field or about others around you.
