  1. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) :fyou u take that back, im probably the biggest packers fan on this whole entire board another thing, what with all the people who dont like favre, hes better than any bears QB and he will be greater than any bears QB <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is it just me or does this entire post make absolutely no sense? Chi-Guy2, did you want to be embraced by rangercal? Don't you think that the reason we don't like Favre and we are rejoicing his retirement is because he is better than any Bears QB and has consistently killed the Bears? No one is denying how good the man is.
  2. I think Dave Wills is going to try to use this as leverage to get a promise that the Rooney position will be his in a year or two, presumably when Hawk retires. That is just my opinion on the whole thing.
  3. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) In Vegas. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You would be wrong. I was just there and the division odds are not yet handicapped. At least not in Vegas. You could not post a bet in Vegas on the division champions.
  4. QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) does anyone know where to find the white sox odds to win the division this year. Im goin to vegas next week. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Where did you get these odds from? I was just in Vegas and went to Ceasar's Palace to place a bet as well as the Venetian and they were 30-1 and 28-1 odds for the world series respectively. I would love to get the odds you speak of.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) Aaron's got a B arm for a CF. Everything I have heard is that Pod has a bad arm. That is another good reason for Aaron in CF. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You really think he has a B arm for a CF? I think he has a B arm overall, but for a CF I believe he rated higher than that.
  6. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) Here's some pics I found of Iguchi. Most of them are from Tadahito-Iguchi.com: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His swing kind of reminds me of Carlos Baerga when he was good with the Indians.
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) I don't think it's his fault. Harrington's going to pull a Drew Brees once he gets a few players around him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A few players around him? Are you kidding? How is this always going to be his excuse? Roy WIlliams, Az-Hakim, Kevin Jones, pretty good offensive line, more than any of the Bears QBs had to work with. Give me a break once he gets something to work with. Brees has Tomlinson and Gates, besides that he has nothing. Brees has a worse offensive line, and worse overall WRs. Harrington is and never was in Brees' category talent wise. Harrington is a piece of s***!
  8. QUOTE(joemg311 @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 07:30 AM) I hear some players are not going to be at soxfest too, maybe we are replacing them <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Idiot
  9. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) And a new manager! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ozzie was far from mediocre.
  10. QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) Jones may want out of Seattle but he most likely will not get his wish.. Seattle has franchised him like 5 years in a row now.. What they are most likely going to do is Franchise Jones, because blue chip LT's are NOT easy to get.. They will work out a deal with Hasselbeck, you dont let top QB's go.. and let Shaun Alexander walk.. A RB is much easier to replace, and they have Maurice Morris and also the draft to pick someone up.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are right, there is no way they let Jones walk. He will be franchised. They will let Alexander walk because as you said they have Morris and the draft to replace him. The latest crap that came out of his mouth may have helped them say goodbye. I am pretty sure they will get a deal worked out with Hasselbeck as well. The most wanted man is definately Jones and they can not afford to let him go. There is no way he does not get franchised.
  11. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) Kiper's board does not include underclassmen. Also, Williams has not run a 40 time yet for this draft. If it is sub 4.5, his value is top 5. If it over 4.5, his value will be around 10. SB <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Has he ever ran a sub 4.5? I don't believe he has. I would rather have Ferguson or Barron at 4 and try to get Chris Henry in the second round.
  12. QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Mike Williams is ranked 4th on Mel Kipers board.. 1. Cedric Benson 2. Ronnie Brown 3. Cadillac Williams 4. Mike Williams Mike Williams is worth the #4 pick and he will be a very solid NFL WR, he is just like Keyshawn Johnson just with a better attitude.. Ferguson has not declared yet and from what im hearing he may not.. but if he does he would most likely be the first tackle taken.. He is a stud <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok, he may be on Kiper's board at 4 but I don't think he fits the Bears offense or is what Lovie calls a "quick twitch" player. He is a big guy who some have even considered moving to TE. He just doesn't fit our system. If Ferguson does not declare then I get Barron, but I believe Ferguson will declare.
  13. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Whether or not that's true, we don't know yet how much the system's going to change between this year and next. We gotta wait and see what happens w/ Shea. One thing that was mentioned (maybe on the radio on Sunday?) is that the Bears also need to improve their te corps. If in the 2nd round you pick between wr and te the best player available, that may work well. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From what I have read and heard Lovie will bring in someone to run the same system if they do end up firing Shea. It is not the system they are having a problem with, it is the person calling the plays and the person running the system they have a problem with. Lovie loves the St. Louis/KC offense and wants to run it here. I do agree with you that you need a TE, but I don't see a difference maker in that dept.
  14. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) id rather get a ot out of free agency, offensive linemen seem to always disappoint, remember tony mandarich, best ot in college football ever bust in the nfl. edwards and williams could fit if we have a qb who could hit them downfield <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Walter Jones and Orlando Pace will be franchised so you can forget about them. You named one offensive lineman out of how many? Remember Johnathan Ogden? Jordan Gross? Tony Boselli? John Tait? Orlando Pace? Walter Jones? There are a ton others that are definately worth it and D'Brickashaw Ferguson is thought of as a franchise type LT especially if he adds more bulk. Scouts say he may have the best footwork for any OT ever! WRs turn out to be busts more than not in the first round. Much more so than OTs.
  15. Favorite or best? Frank Thomas Harold Baines Carlton Fisk Dick Allen Magglio Ordonez
  16. I would love to have a game breaking WR, but I just don't think that either Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards fit with the Bears system or are worthy of the #4 overall pick. I would pick OT D’Brickashaw Ferguson from Virginia in the first round and then hope that WR Chris Henry from West Virginia is still there in the 2nd round and grab him. I really like Chris Henry and most are projecting him to go in the 2nd-3rd round range. If Ferguson comes out early this year then he could potentially be our left tackle for the next 15-20 years.
  17. I just won my fantasy title for the second year in a row. We get to keep UP TO 6 players, BUT NO LESS THAN 2 in one of 2 formats: 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE OR 1 QB, 1 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE. Very yardage and TD balanced league, no emphasis on either. Let me know what you guys think please. QBs Carson Palmer Kerry Collins Byron Leftwich RBs LaDanian Tomlinson Larry Johnson Tatum Bell LaMont Jordan Maurice Morris WRs Torry Holt Jerry Porter Anquan Boldin Antonio Bryant TE Jeremy Shockey Here is what I am thinking: QB Carson Palmer RB LaDanian Tomlinson RB Tatum Bell WR Torry Holt WR Anquan Boldin TE Jeremy Shockey I also won my non keeper league. Very TD heavy scoring. No TE was needed. Roster was: QB Daunte Culpepper QB Kerry Collins RB Larry Johnson RB Chris Brown RB Thomas Jones RB Steven Jackson RB Tatum Bell RB Sammy Morris WR Randy Moss WR Jevon Walker WR Anquan Boldin WR Lee Evans WR Ashley Lelie D/ST Buffalo Bills K Sebastian Janikowski It was a great fantasy year for me! I won over a grand. WOOHOO!
  18. By getting rid of Everett it gives Borchard a chance to play? How is that? How often would he play? That is ridiculous.
  19. This is highly unlikely. His wife is from Chicago and he knows a lot of people in Chicago. The reports I have heard has been saying he did not want to pitch for the Dodgers.
  20. If that is what you want to believe. All reports are that Mauer will not be at catcher for long anymore due to his recent knee injyries. They are not making a push for Pierzynski and I dont think he will be costing too much to bring in. I believe there is more to it than just Mauer and money
  21. I don't understand all this Pierzynski love. Why is everyone around here so fascinated with this guy? He has now been traded from one and cut from another because he is an awful guy to have in the clubhouse. He is just an awful personality to have around the team. Second he is absoultely horrid defensively. He may hit for average, but that is about it. Ben Davis came over and hit .231 for the White Sox with 6 HRs, 16 RBIs, and 21 Runs Scored in 160 ABs. That is not bad if he provides very good defense, which he is capable of. Just trying to say I would much rather take a chance on Ben Davis actually living up to his potential than having a cancer such as Pierzynski on this team.
  22. The players I would go after on this list are: David Eckstein Alex Cora Wade Miller Scott Strickland And I think we should resign Ben Davis as well. I think he will turn out to be pretty good.
  23. I for one never thought Carlos was good defensively or was even an average LF. I thought he played out of position a lot, but not just that, he showed a lack of hustle and always got a bad jump on the ball. His lack of hustle showed on many foul balls that he should have got to. If you have really seen him play live then you know he very seldom got a good break on the ball. Watching him play LF was just as distrubing and aggravating as watching Sosa play RF. The "highlight film" diving catches he would make was because of his awful jumps on fly balls and he had to dive in order to make up for that. The same can be said for Sosa. For the most part they are routine fly balls for any other major league OFer. It was really aggravating watching him play LF.
  24. Ok, I was unaware Dye had a great arm. I have seen Rowand a few times last year and it looked pretty good, that is why I had him moving to right. I am fine with Pods in left as it should have less wear and tear on his body and he will be able to steal more bases if that is the case.
  25. Can you figure it out if Dye is in LF, Podsednik in CF, and Rowand in RF? I would like to know that. I am not sure if they are planning to do it the way you specified or not, but I like it better this way. Plus I have heard them comparing Podsednik and his arm to Lance Johnson's. I would much rather see the better arms in the corners.
