Why are people always bringing up Cairo. I don't want to see that guy on our roster ever. Did we give up on signing Polanco? Did KW say something to the effect that we have no interest in him or that we can't sign him? Polanco would be the perfect addition to our team at 2B. Can we get Hinske and Lilly for Konerko? Lilly would be, at the very least, a great 5th starter. With the Jays hot after Canadian native Corey Koskie and the loss of Carlos Delgado that makes them open at 1B for Konerko and a surplus at 3B for us to get Hinske. They just seem like the perfect trade partners for us. Wold they throw Lilly in as well for a 40 + HR hitting 1st baseman? I don't believe it is out of the realm of possibilities. I would then move Carlos from LF to 1B and play Everett in LF. Unless we can sign a Catalanatto or something like that. We would then have starting roster of: C Ben Davis 1B Carlos Lee 2B Placido Polanco 3B Eic Hinske SS Juan Uribe RF Jermaine Dye CF Aaron Rowand LF Carl Everett DH Frank Thomas, until he gets back maybe Ross Gload or Rogowski if he is ready If they determine that Anderson or Sweeney is ready then we could trade Carlos for SP Randy Johnson or Javier Vasquez and still have a pretty good lineup. We could then put Everett/Gload at 1B/DH and have an OF of Dye in LF, Anderson in CF, and Rowand in RF. Then we would have a pitching rotation of: Johnson/Vazquez Freddy Garcia Mark Buehrle Ted Lilly Jose Contreras and a starting roster of: C Ben Davis 1B/DH Carl Everett/Ross Gload, When Frank comes back he is DH, Everett 1B 2B Placido Polanco 3B Eic Hinske SS Juan Uribe RF Aaron Rowand CF Brian Anderson LF Jermaine Dye We would definately have our share of hoagies and grinders on this team. Isn't that what KW and Oz wanted? Grinders? Good Pitching Good fielding? Hustle?

But we need a leadoff hitter Everett, Rowand, Lee, Dye, Borchard, Escobar, Perez, Harris, Gload are not leadoff hitters. Now if we get Renteria there is no need for a Sanchez.
-
ok, what do you think of him? Would he fit here?
-
Come on, Mark McGwire, Mike Piazza, and Carlton Fisk all played 1B. Are you saying Carlos is less mobile than them? It really isn't that difficult. You don't need to have a great defensive 1B.
-
I don't think he would come at that steep of a price. I think we could afford it and it won't take away from any other signings that we could possibly make.
-
I agree, Carlos has improved a great deal. However, this would give us an even better defensive OF. Carlos could be pretty good at 1B and it would give us even more players that can run on the bases. How many teams have a 1B that can steal nearly 10-15 bases a season? It seems to make us better, but I don' know.
-
Supposedly Detroit does not see him as an everyday CF. He is arbitration eligible this season and they have until December 20th to make him an offer. Rumor is they will either sign him and trade him or let him go. Now I know he does not have the OBP that you would like from a leadoff hitter and he doesn't have any power, but he has a lot of speed and he is 28 years old. I would think we could grab this guy and put him in CF and he would lead off for us. We could move Carlos to 1B and have Dye play LF and Rowand play RF. This is just a thought. I am not sure if it seems like a fit or not, just wanted to throw it out there and see what people thought.
-
Uribe as good as Renteria? WOW! I have no problem with Uribe, but going into the season with a SS/2B combo of Uribe and Harris is a huge drop off from a combination of Renteria and Uribe.

I will treat him as he has treated me, a fan of the chicago white sox. I loved the guy, I wanted him back and wished the Sox would make him an offer. They finally did and then he wanted more and more. GREEDY SOB! Why should I thank him for the numbers he put up when he is basically pissing all over me by not WANTING to play for my team? We gave him what he wanted and he said no. f*** him! I wish someone signs him for a lot of money and a lot of years and I hope he becomes the biggest bust with whomever he plays for. I don't think you see my point as to why Magglio is greedy in my eyes. We gave him everything he asked for. We met his demands and he still turned us down and asked for more. You make good points, but I don't think we see it the same.

I don't even have the time to comment on this stuff. To me, it is unreal the way you spin this and the way you try to rationalize it, but if it makes you feel better then fine. It all depends on quality of life and what your standards are I guess. I don't know if you recall last year when Maggs was demanding a certain amount and the Sox finally met those demands. Then Maggs declines it and ups the demands. That just showed me that he doesn't want to be here. It also shows me he doesn't want to be here when he doesn't allow us to give him a physical or see his medical documents. Defend these greedy athletes all you want. To me it is a shame to see this. It was treated great in this town and was given what he asked for. To hell with him. There is no comparison between he and Baines and Maggs' number should never be retired here.
-
Daddy wants his baby boy. That is all that deal is about for the Clippers.
-
Hmm, seems like he was making pretty good money here. Seems like he was treated pretty well here. So how many more millions does he want to make? We offered him a damn good contract, actually we met his requests for the money he wanted. Then he kept asking for more and more. It was ridiculous. He won't even allow the sox to give him a physical or see his medical documents. f*** him. He has wanted to leave from the beginning. I say let him leave. Plus all I was pointing out is why his number should not be retired and why Baines' was. I don't think the American way of life is all about being greedy, but if that is the way you feel then fine.
-
difference between Maggs and Baines is that Maggs is a greedy SOB who is looking to and wants to leave. Baines was traded and had no control over his situation. Screw Maggs. Plus SS2K4 is exactly correct. They are two completely different eras. You just can't compare them to each other.

Here is what I believe a winner is. A winner is someone who comes through more than not in clutch/pressure situations. Someone that comes through in big games more often than not. A winner is someone who puts team first and self second. Moving the runner over, good baserunning, knowing the situations, sacrifice bunting, good fielding, just fundamentally sound. A winner is someone that is mentally strong and has a never say die attitude. I believe Renteria fits this description. I believe we have some of these kind of guys on our team already. Just because you have not played on winning team does not mean you are not a winner and just because you have played on a winning team does not mean you are a winner. You must possess certain qualities.

You cant copy and paste insider articles. It does not allow you to copy anything from their insider pages.

This is really ridiculous.

If you are getting at the Todd Ritchie deal then you are barking up the wrong tree. Ron Schuler took full credit for that move. KW had very little, if anything, to do with it. Anthrax, I don't know how many times this has to be told to you.

That is acutually a misdirected and incorrect point to make. Who says I am comparing him to today's QBs? Look back through history and you will see that not many running QBs stay healthy consistently enough that they continue to be a running QB to the extent they were early on in their careers. Cunningham, Douglas, Steve Young.... QBs that run tend to break down a lot faster than QBs that don't. Enjoy his running ability while you can because this will not last long. You can count on that. BTW, ask Rex Grossman about the type of hits you take while running as compared to the hits you take sitting back in the pocket. QBs are much more vulnerable while running and don't take the necessary precautions to keep themselves out of harms way. The fact is the QB will wear down a lot faster by the number of hits he takes. He will take a lot more hits running around than just sitting in the pocket and releasing it quickly, ala Peyton Manning. As I have said, enjoy it while it lasts.
-
You would have to hope that he continues to stay injury free. Most running QBs do not stay injury free for an entire year and this is really his first full year. I am not wishing anyhting bad on him, but QBs that continue to run as much as he has usually are injured a lot.

If yuo can explain how he is not a pussy for avoiding a confrontation with Ben Wallace but then goes after a fan in the stands half his size then please go right ahead. I find it a tough argument to make. If you can tell me why he is committing such an uneccessary foul with 45 seconds to go then please tell me. I would love to hear that explaination. 45 seconds to go and up by 15 he is going to push someone in the back while he is in the air going for a layup? That is not only a bad foul, but it is stupid. Go ahead and please explain why that is a good foul. I am waiting to hear this explaination of why that would ever be considered a good foul or something you would want your player to do. Utter nonsense. If you say he is defending himself by going after the fan that threw a cup of ice at him then why doesn't he defend himself against Ben Wallace? Whatever though, I really coudn't give two s***s. To each their own.
-
Obviously you and bones don't understand my points. First of all how does it make someone a great defender by pushing someone in the back while he is in the air. I never said it was a hard foul, however it was cheap and uneccessary and it hits a player at his most vulnerable point, while he is in the air. Artest is a pussy from walking away from Wallace but then taking on a guy half his size in the stands. COWARD! Second, the Pacers are up by 15 points with 45 seconds to go, was it really necessary to do what he did? He with out a doubt started the whole thing. If he never pushes Wallace in the back like a coward with 45 seconds to go while his team is up by 15 points then nothing like this happens. Artest's suspension will not get cut down. The NBA players association is not as strong as the MLB PA and Stern is a great comissioner. He takes a stand on things and does not back peddle. This needs to be done. Artest is getting what he wants anyways, time off to promote his album and free publicity for it.
-
First, the Pacers are up by 15 and Artest pushes Wallace in the back, like a coward, while he was in the air, which is when a player is most vulnerable. Artest started the whole thing, not Wallace. If Artest doesn't shove him in the back like a coward then nothing happens. I am sick of hearing how Wallace started it, Artest started all of it. If there is no shove in the back then there is no fight. Come on now, your up by 15 points with 45 seconds to go, are you seriously telling me that that was necessary? I would like you to tell me how avoiding a guy bigger and stronger than you is ok especially after he just punched you in the neck. To me he avoided him because he is a coward. However, it is ok to go after a fan 1/2 his size that throws a cup of ice. There is a bit of hypocrisy there. The guy that threw the cup of ice is definately at fault as well, especially when you see him sucker punching Artest in the back of the head later. Artest is the biggest f*** up in the NBA today. I am not saying he is a bad guy, but he is a damn moron! He deserved the punishment he received. Something had to be done with him as he has done too much to shame himself as well as the NBA.

Nick Johnson could become available

I respect your opinion DBHA0, but Gload looked horrendous defensively in RF last year. I think he would cost us way too many outs/runs if he is a platoon player in RF. That is just my opinion of course. -

does this even make sense? Looks like a bunch of jibberish. -
Let see how this trade goes over here

hmm, why? Were Polanco and Thome playing double A ball last year? It was your comparison so why don't you explain it to us.
