  1. QUOTE(soxman35 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) do you like it <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I like MVP way better. I also thought that MLB 2K5 dropped the ESPN name. I could be wrong about that, but I thought I read that somewhere.
  2. This is my favorite quote from the Mariotti article: I think Marriotti has amnesia. Has he ever stayed consistent on any issue ever? I think some people need to do some research and see how many times he has contradicted himself.
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) I love the irony. I cannot think of a player that left here saying anything nice about the franchise. I cannot blame that on Mariotti. I thought it was funny reading Ozzie's own words. But Jay is wrong. We are not a major market team. We are #2 in a split market, putting us on par with the Milwaukees of the world. We deserve what we are getting, a string of economically reasonable, breaking even, second place seasons with a strong desire to rid ourselves of any superstars and achieving the holy grail of balance, 25 guys all earning $2.7 mil per year. Maggs, the team made an offer even after you were injured, STFU and play hard for the Tigers. It wasn't like OZ or Fisk or S. Alomar where the team said, we're finished with you, hit the bricks. The treatment of Fisk IMHO, is the worse treatment a HoF player ever received. Everyone on the team grab a seat on the plane, not so fast Fisk . . . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can think of a few that have said very nice things about the Sox organization when they left. Harold Baines Joey Cora Greg Walker Richard Dotson Todd Ritchie Billy Koch Carl Everett Ozzie Guillen - Let me say this, I don't remember him making those comments when he left. I remember us giving him plenty of chaces to come back and be a statring shortstop after that devastating knee injury. There is also a huge difference between Magglio complaining and Ozzie going nutso after being released. Ozzie was making those comments because he was released and he WANTED to be here. He didn't want to leave. Magglio wanted to go and he wanted more money. Ozzie didn't want to leave and wanted to be a White Sox forever, and when he realized his career with the White Sox was over he went a little psycho. I think that is a huge difference.
  4. Dish Network sucks. DirecTv is definately the way to go. It is PHENOMONAL!
  5. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 03:28 AM) Wow. Ok, I'll try to stay nice. "Why would you take Rolle or Johnson when you have corners liek Peanut, Vasher, Azumah, McQuarters?" I think you answered your own question. McQuarters shouldn't be back in a Bears uniform next year, Peanut looks to be an above-average cornerback in the NFL but is still quite raw and needs work, Vasher had a stellar rookie campaign but he is 5'11, 180 and can't cover the big, aggressive WR, and Azumah is TERRIBLE in coverage. You can't possible be serious about Azumah. Do you like him because he wears a dark visor and returns kicks? Azumah is a glorifed special teams player and should be a nickle corner on most good secondaries. Rolle is lockdown, something the Bears don't have (sorry). He shut down the much bigger and stronger Larry Fitzgerald last season and has been talked about since high school. Rolle is big, extremely strong, very fast and extremely athletic. The only knock on this kid is his inability to finish off a tackle and break on an INT. As for Johnson, what can be said of this kid that hasn't already been stated? I've made posts on him all over this forum, I'm too lazy to re-type it, you can dig it out at your lesiure. Gore is extremely talented. You don't top #1 on the Miami depth charts over both Portis and McGahee if you "suck." Lucky to get drafted? Lucky to get drafted? Dude, stick with baseball. He is this year's diamond in the rough. If he didn't have two blown out years in two consecutive seasons, he would have been a first round selection, hands down. So, no sir, he most certainly does not "suck." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Putting it nicely is saying to stick to baseball? I must have missed something. I am no digging anything out at my leisure. Rolle and Pac Man may be better than anyone the Bears have right now, however, why would we waste a pick on a CB at #4? We are not in dire need of anything on defense. Second your point is a little off about Gore. He IS one of the slowest RBs in the draft this year, 4.6? He WILL be lucky to get drafted. He DID have two blown out years in two consecutive seasons, with two knee surgeries. He has had only one healthy full season and never really carried the load for a full season. He is not a good pass catcher out of the backfield. He WAS extremely talented 3 or 4 years ago. He DOES currently suck 100 different varieties of ass.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) I agree...they are a suspect crew but there is 1 missing factor in your breakdown of the DB's.... Mike Brown was gone. He makes everyone better. Vasher was excellent last season. Tillman was never fully healthy. Azumah and RDub need to stay because of special teams. Just draft an unheard of CB in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round is what I say. It's worked 2 years in a row in Vasher and Tillman. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I completely agree. It is not a drastic weakness that the Bears must adress and definately not somethign that we need to spend a #4 pick on.
  7. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) They're going to release some other players as well such as Parella, Sapp and Washington possibly. Norv Turner is insistent on getting a power RB, and they want Jordan. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok then I say whichever back Oakland doesn't get Miami will. Miami will chose either RB Henry or Jordan.
  8. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 02:48 AM) I don't know what Angelo is going to do, but I know what he should do. Angelo needs to take a serious look at both Johnson and Rolle at the #4 slot. As has been stated on this board many times, Johnson is a rare talent. His athletic ability at his position is unmatched in this year's and last year's draft. Rolle is also a standout, lockdown corner. I have no doubt in my mind that Rolle will excel in this league and join the elite status in two year's time. Now with the addition of Mushin, Angelo has a little bit more play with that #4 selection. If he wants to draft Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards, he'll have one of the better WR cores in the NFC. If he is dead-set on offense and sees Benson or Brown (which I highly doubt) he'll also have to give them a look. If I were Angelo, I'd take Rolle or Johnson with the #4 pick, and draft Frank Gore or another RB in the later rounds. Looking at the RB class, there is talent from top to bottom. A few more names to watch: Ryan Moats (LT), Kay-Jay Harris (WVU) and Morrency (Okl. St). That said: if Brown is there at #4...uh-oh. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why would you take Rolle or Johnson when you have corners like Peanut, Vasher, Azumah, McQuarters. I really dont think that is a necessity or the weak point of the team. Frank Gore sucks by the way. Not only is he one of the slowest backs in the draft, but he can't ever stay healthy. He was much better before all those knee surgeries. He will be lucky to get drafted.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) Dead on. Of course I think Benson will be the Bears selection if available, but there is a good shot he's gone when the Bears pick. Mike Williams = NO Chance. I personally wouldn't mind the Bears moving down for a team wanting Braylon because Williamson is a WR I'm really intrigued with. Projects in the mid 1st round and had stellar 40 times and the Bears still need that speed receiver. Right now I'd be happy with any of Braylon, Ronnie, Derrick, Antrelle Rolle, or Benson. However, for whatever reason part of me thinks the Bears could shock the world and grab one of the QB's if they are there and impress them. Don't know if Alex Smith goes quite that early though and Rodgers has to be going to San Fran. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I highly doubt Antrelle Rolle goes ahead of Pac-Man Jones.
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) The Raiders are most likely going to sign Jordan as their feature back after they trade Woodson. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would bet that you are wrong. They have to get rid of Woodson just to be able to fit Moss under the salary cap. There is no way they will be able to afford Jordan as well.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) How do you know all this southside??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> By listening to Angelo speak. I listen to a lot of sports talk radio and he interviews a lot. He has interviewed a lot recently the last 4 to 5 days.

B-E-A-S-T!!!!!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am pretty sure you can forget about him. Angelo has said that he has 3 needs offensively to fill in the draft and free agency. He did not mention those needs but did say one has been filled with the acquisition of Mushin Muhammed. Maybe 2 of those needs was at WR and the other OT. Maybe one was a WR, another a TE, and another an OT. I really don't know, but I do know Angelo has loved Mike Williams since last year. He also likes RB Ronnie Brown and WR Braylon Edwards. If I was to guess I would say it would be one of those three guys.
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 01:26 AM) Not anymore. Not after Ronnie ran a 4.32. He is higher on there board, I gurantee it. Also they are gonna give a long hard look at Alex Smith. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Plus isn't Miami said to be the front runner for RB LaMont Jordan in free agency? I believe that is what I heard. They have a number of holes to fill and not that many draft picks. If they can get a player like LaMont Jordan to play RB for them they can use the draft pick on other needs or trade it.
  14. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Kittle, that may have been even dumber than Canseco :headshake <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe, but he is right.
  15. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) Yes and that's one thing that really bothers me about the guy. He may not always remember but others do and may take offense, weakening his credibility and standing as a leader. I really want to believe in and like the guy but my gut instincts tell me that he might not be a Manuel or Bevington, but he's not the guy to take us where we haven't been since 1917. When it comes to Ozzie, I remain far from convinced. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Then please name some managers that would be able to take us there. Instead of bashing the current guy for no apparent or explained reason why don't you give us some examples of who you would have hired in order to get us to where we have not been since 1917. Would you have rather had Cito Gaston? Who would have though Joe Torre would have done that for the Yanks. He was a terrible manager for the STL Cardinals and the next year and first year with the Yanks he takes them to the World Series and wins it. How about Jack McKeon for the Marlins, Terry Francona for the Red Sox, Mike Scioscia for the Angels, or Bob Brenly for the Diamondbacks. I am sure none of those guys were viewed as a manager to get their respective team to the world series let alone win it. However all of them did just that. Point is you never ever know exactly what you have. My recomendation to you is be happy we have a very colorful and fun manager and enjoy him while you can. He may just be the guy that wins us the World Series. Stop being such a negative guy and back your team and the manager of your team. He seems like a very easy guy to like and if nothing else he is very entertaining. Thank God we don't have that big blob that sits on the bench on northside.
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) I pulled up pics of those guys from their playing days and after and from personal trainers and guys who I know and see 4 times a week at the gym both on and off juice. Most guys I've seen go off their cycle turn soft and fatty, some turn into a big, fat globby mess. We must have different ideas of fat, pudgy and lean. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you seriously think that Giambi looks fatter now and last year than when he was on that stuff then you really need glasses. Obviously I can't bring up Hulk Hogan or Lyle Alzado any longer because it seems as though you have no idea who the hell I am talking about. I don't know if you are too young to know them or what. Your statement that steroids makes you more cut and leaner than when your not on them is totally false. Here are a couple quotes I have found that will help you understand a little better. "Steroids cause extreme bloating because they create an imbalance of chemicals in the body and to regain that balance the body holds water. This extra fluid raises the blood pressure and could cause strokes and heart-attacks." "Now one of the well-known side affects and culprits of giving off only the appearance of increased muscle mass and size is water retention. Very common for most users but very unwanted because water retention involves bloating of the body, with a build up of water inside the muscles for a short amount of time. This will be lost soon after the termination ofthe cycle with regular exercise and cardiovascular workouts." Maybe your buddies at the gym don't do any cardio or very little cardio. If that is the case then shame on them. Why would everyone be looking at all the people who lost weight since the past year to determine if the person was on steroids or not? Are you looking for people who have gained weight since last year so you can tell if they used to be taking steroids? Are you seriously doing that? If that is the case then maybe Bartolo Colon has been taking them every year and then gets off of them a month before the season starts because every year he comes back fatter and fatter.
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) If I remember correctly Alzado wasn't as fat while he was playing, shortly after retired he got real fat, then became sick and withered away. Hulk Hogan also wrestled til he was like 45, he might still be wrestling actually, so of course by then he was looking like crap. Yes, I bet Pudge is fatter than Giambi. Name a young guy on roids who is fat? Now once you go OFF of them, you do become a fat ass. The real point here is that this steroid thing is a witch hunt now. People are assuming things based on speculation, none of us knows for sure. Did Pudge use roids? Maybe, but I can't say for sure based on looking at him, or because he lost 22lbs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Your kidding right? Giambi became fat and bloated when HE GOT ON them. Last year he as off and became thin. Hulk Hogan was never ripped and cut like you claim. I believe he was in his prime in Rocky III, rent the movie and check him out. He has a belly. He is a bit bloated. Lyle Alzado was not thin when he played and did not get real fat after he retired. He was built but had a belly. These are the same body types as Pudge. Not cut, but strong with a pudgy belly. I am not saying he is on roids either, but at the same time roids does not make you cut like you claim. It makes you bloated and can give you a belly. Giambi, Hulk Hogan, and Lyle Alzado are all prime examples of this. All of them took steroids in their prime. Canseco even wrote in his book that you get bloated from steroids, especially if you are taking too much. Once you get off them you usually get thinner, not fatter. Especially if you are an athlete that works out at the rate these athletes do. I really don't know where you are getting your information from.
  18. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Here you go... http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/rwas/in...egory=3&id=2104 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks man, your the best!
  19. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Yeah, it just took a while for me to understand that a guy nicknamed 'Pudge' has always been very lean, my bad. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No one ever said lean. I don't believe I ever once made that claim. However, he was not fat either. Being pudgy and being fat are totally different. If you think he was as fat as Lyle Alzado, Jason Giambi, and Hulk Hogan then I really believe you need an eye test. None of those guys were ever cut up and all had bellies. All are also admitted steroid users. So your claim that steroids make you more cut and not fat is way off base. Get over it.
  20. Does anyone know of a website that shows all of the White Sox uniforms through the years? I went to the White Sox website and they have some, but not all of them. For instance they are missing the one in between the 80s and our silver and black, the one with the ridiculous looking cursive C on the hat. Please help me out here as I am having a debate with a ridulous scrub fan.
  21. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) OK Dude. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> right on! its about time you understood.
  22. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Nor were they fat, Pudge has always been fat, remember the guy's nickname is Pudge. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I never remember Pudge being fat. I never remember him being anywhere near as fat as Giambi, Lyle Alzado, or Hulk Hogan.
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) He had some pudge on his body. Guys that juice get a pudgy face, but the body usually remains cut and leaner. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats not true at all. Hulk Hogan, Jason Giambi, Lyle Alzado, need I say more? None of them were trim in the wasteline or necessarily "cut".
  24. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) ....nor was he a wall of solid muscle. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He wasn't he looked pretty damn solid to me. He certainly didn't appear flabby and out of shape.
  25. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) how about Carmen Dafelco? i think he would do great as the pre and post game for the sox. hes a huge sox fan. i remember he did some games befor. he would like to do it too. i think the only thing in the way is that he does the bulls pre and post. so how bout Carmen? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think that is a no brainer. I think the job is his if he wants it. That is the first name that came to my mind after I heard about Wills.
