  1. Doesn't really matter, but I'm counting 9 nationally televised games. And if we're contending throughout (as we should), more are bound to be picked up.
  2. I realize he has the potential to be better, but honestly, if all Iguchi does is duplicate last years performance, I'll be happy.
  3. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) it was always supposed to be the clincher... I'm guessing that was the case, but at one point, as RME JICO pointed out, the box said Game 2 of the ALCS. This was noted in a previous thread about this DVD set. They have obviously changed it.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 06:44 PM) He did? Granted he wasnt the problem, but the Sox were in the playoffs once when Magglio was here. If Frank, or Paul, s***, even a guy like Podsednik left like Maggs did, I would have a hard time holding a grudge just based on what they brought me in 05. Maggs didnt bring us s***. Im sorry for the harsh posts, I really just have a HUGE hatred for Magglio. You have the right to feel that way. Thats fine. I just find it hard to hold a grudge like that. Believe me, I was as unhappy as anybody with him when he left. He could have handled a lot better, and there's really no debating that. But his departure hasn't hurt us that much, and for the most part, he hasn't been badmouthing us since last offseason. He got his money and moved on. My opinion is that we should to and just bury the hatchet. If you feel that strongly about it, thats cool. I won't criticize you for it. I'm just offering my two cents here. What I will challenge you on is what Maggs did for us when he was here. The guy will go down as one of the better hitters in our history. Yes, we only made the playoffs once when he was here. But how many great players have come and gone without many postseason accomplishments for us? That shouldn't discount their overall production. I'm not a big Maggs fan myself, but to think he was anything other than a great player for us is crazy.
  5. I have no more animosity towards Maggs. Was I pissed when he left? Yes. Did he handle it poorly? He sure did. And Sox fans gave him his just due every time he came to the plate last season. But to me, its over and done with. I will treat him like any other visiting ballplayer next year. We got what we wanted, and he got what he wanted. He really looked bad during the whole thing, but he did accomplish alot with us. And afterall, we all forgave Frank after every time he complained about his contract or whined about this and that. I think its time we let the whole Maggs thing die as well.
  6. I can see one change since the last time this DVD set was brought up. I believe that it was noted previously that the one game in the ALCS was the "AJ game". It appears now that its the Game 5 pennent winner.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) This might sound crazy, and I'm sure some would disagree, but I'm actually more concerned with guys like Garland and Contreras than Vazquez. Its not that crazy. Although it hasn't been very recent, Vazquez has had more big league success than both Garland and Contreras. Now, I believe Garland and Contreras have finally figured things out and are legitimately good pitchers, but they still have to prove that they aren't 1-year wonders.
  8. Hard to see, but the new gold medal winner, Shani Davis (a south sider), was wearing a Sox hat shortly after he won...
  9. Ooo, an all-sarcasm thread...how fun! I really can't wait for the next Dayn Perry column. His points of Scott Podsednik being overrated and that we overpaid for Paul Konerko really haven't registered in my brain yet. Maybe one more article would do the trick. I love Dayn Perry!
  10. The squeeze play in Game 3 at Boston. I think Uribe was the batter, and AJ scored on the bunt. At the time, it was an important insurance run, and it just seemed to sum up the way we played the entire season.
  11. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) So what will haters come up with now that the park is gonna be full just about every night? They'll still have that notion of the South Side being a hell hole and that Sox fans a raving lunatics who beat up first base coaches. Believe me, the haters will come up with something.
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) 37K for every game... not to realistic. Yah, doubt it'll happen. Thanks for doing the math.
  13. I'm no expert on this, but would cracking 3 million be a realistic possibility?
  14. QUOTE(Elcaballo45 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) Which holiday is that? Ah, my bad. Got my months mixed up. Mothers Day is May 10th, but I doubt that has anything to do with it. I guess people just love fireworks. Tickets are open to the general public tomorrow. I'm guessing that we'll see a few more odd dates sold out.
  15. QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) May 6th vs Kansas City????? Fireworks/Holiday weekend....just a guess.
  16. Wow! Chicago White Sox surpass two million tickets sold
  17. These things mean absolutely nothing, but ESPN is apparently on the bandwagon. They just released their first Power Rankings of the season, and we top this list. ESPN - MLB Power Rankings Hooray us!
  18. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) Excerpt from Telander: I can imagine Rick staring at this sentence, feeling dignified he brought politics into his colum. This quote, and in addition to the entire article, is a space filling pile of s***. Someone should teach him how to piece together a paragraph before anymore inciteful stories about Guillen's shunning of a presidential visits. As if immigrants and school children were thinking, "You know, I've always respected American values--but now that Guillen won't see the president, it's time to raise hell!!!!" Funny you quote that sentence, cause it caught my attention as well. I was reading through the article, and it just seemed to be the same nonsense that has been spewed over the past week by the media. But when I got to that part, I said to myself "Good f***ing god, where the hell am I?" Yes, Telender actually said that Ozzie's abcense at today's photo-op is "a slap in the face of our nation's status as a democratic model to the world." Its as if he was sitting in his cubicle, and in the middle of writing this column, he thought to himself "hey, I don't think this situation has been blown completely out of preportion, so I'm going to be the one to push it over the top." I usually don't get too caught up in the nonsense that is thrown around on a daily basis in the Chicago newspapers, but this one had my head spinning.
  19. You summed it up for me Beltin' Bill. I've been surprised at some of the negative feedback, at least on the radio. I originally thought that most of those who are supposedly "offended" by this are just Cub fans who have been waiting for a time to rip into Ozzie and the Sox without sounding like sore losers. But who knows. Maybe there really are that many flag waving yahoos out there. I personally don't know why a trip to the White House is treated like some sort of religious experience. Its a nice thing to do that I wouldn't mind doing someday, but its not that big of a deal. Its a tour and a photo-op. How it is your "duty as an American citizen" to participate in something like this is beyond me. If a 10 minute chat with the Prez about baseball is somehow more important than spending time with my family, then I guess I've got to get my priorities straight. Consider me un-American. :headshake
  20. I thought they finished it off quite well. Problem is, they finished all the subplots so well, it leaves me with some doubt that they have any intentions of bringing it back on another network. Maybe Ron Howard's comment about a movie was some sort of hint. Wouldn't surprise me.
  21. So, AD fans, who watched the final 4 episodes? What did you think?
  22. If Ozzie got as vacation time as Crawford Bush, I'd understand some of the criticism. But the guy only gets 2 months out of the year to spend significant time with his family. Why its a problem that he passes up a White House photo-op for a family vacation is beyond me.
  23. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 12:48 AM) At least they gave AD a few seasons. They only aired the White Sox World Series for 4 episodes! Yah, and they did a fantastic job with the World Series, didn't they? Every time I heard some goofy sound effect or lame commentary from Buck and McCarver, not to mention that stupid f***ing animated talking baseball (I forget its name), I thought about sticking a fork in my eye.
  24. Speaking of the "Big Boy", there is a really nice article on Jenks in the most recent Sports Weekly. He's actually on the cover (ahead of the Super Bowl recap). Apparently, they don't publish most of their stuff online, so I don't have a link or anything. You can probably pick it up at your local 7-11. Just a heads up.
  25. Well, apparently Mayor Daley is making a big stink about those who will be absent. Personally, I don't see what the big f***ing deal is...but thats just me. Its a photo-op for christ sake. Guillen skipping White House trip irks Daley
