  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) Be warned, it's ugly... Box score Well, the good news is that all the damage was done against pitchers that belong nowhere near a major league roster. The only two that I care about (Lopez and Logan) pitched well. And the offense looked pretty good, especially Anderson. I've actually never felt better about an 12 run loss.
  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:52 PM) He's not even worth a can of Old Style. Hopefully the management at Jewel doesn't know that.
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:46 PM) Prediction: Armando Almanza will be reassigned to minor-league camp later today. Prediction: We will trade Armando Almanza to the nearest Jewel for a 6-pack of Miller Lite.
  4. Note to self: Do not attend any Sox minor league games this year!
  5. From the looks of it, we are now letting fans pitch. The guy they just brought in is built like a 12 year old girl.
  6. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) Is this Almanza pitching? Well, if you consider this pitching...yes.
  7. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) Thomas (the team was at its best when he played) etc. etc. etc. Correction: the team was at its best in the playoffs...without Frank. I have no point. Just sayin.
  8. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) Boone Logan is the effing s***. I'm guessing that he ain't gonna be wearing #80 much longer.
  9. Minus the Tyler Lumsden experience, I've seen some encouraging things so far in this game...most notably Javier Lopez's appearence and Brian Anderson.
  10. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) Maybe he can teach Jenks how to throw strikes. Its quite simple for Jenks... WWBLD?
  11. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) Why? He's lacking a unibrow.
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) OK, what the heck. My first sig bet. I'll add it in a minute. You're on buddy!
  13. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 01:31 PM) OK, you're on - KC will not finish in last place in the division in 2006. Um... what are we betting? One of those sig bets people do? Or just a gentlemen's bet that we remember at the end of the year? I think MIN will be a bit under .500, and I think DET will finish last. KC will beat out DET and, possibly, give MIN a run for 3rd place. CLE will finish 2nd, no surprise there, but I think they will not be as good as last year. I don't see a wild card from the Central. A sig bet will work. I'll let you decide.
  14. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) I would be willing to bet the Royals will not be in last place in the ALC this year. I think they may finish as high as 3rd, in fact, but will probably end up 4th. And MIN is going to disappoint a lot of people. I'll take you up on that bet. First of all, I don't think Minnesota will be all that great, but with their pitching staff, I'll be shocked if they finish under .500. And the Tigers should be improved this year. Sorry, but the addition of a few average veterans won't make a ton of difference to a 106 loss team. They'll be a little better, but they'll also stay in the cellar.
  15. Didn't see this posted anywhere, but this is from Reifert's blog... http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/
  16. Welcome aboard. You'll like it here. A few pointers... 99% of SoxTalk hates Timo (I'm of the 1%). Defend him at your own risk. Defending Mike Caruso will score you some points with a certain poster. Learn about the legend of Jabroni...its a hell of a tale. Use green for sarcasm. Come for the insight, stay for the occasional "late night poll inspired by intoxication". Threads regarding Jay Mariotti and attendence numbers are tiresome. Ross Gload really isn't God. Tony82087 and tonyho7476 are actually two different posters...it actually took me a while to figure this out. And finally, and maybe most important, BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF THE...
  17. 156 - 6. All our losses will come against Oakland. During those games against Oakland, we'll accumulate a total of 48 errors, 3 blown saves, 4 ejections, a couple Mark Buehrle bombings, and a couple innings of A.J. playing SS. Its practically unavoidable.
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 10:21 AM) Of that group, I still think Aaron will be the loss felt most deeply. But I think you are right, even that won't cause the Sox to fall flat. I agree that he'll be missed, especially in the clubhouse. But I just don't buy the whole loss of chemistry thing. If we win consistanty, the chemistry should take care of itself. And either way, I don't worry too much about chemistry with Ozzie at the helm.
  19. I think its kinda funny that this self-proclaimed leader was the same guy who complained about being moved down the lineup during a time he couldn't get a hit to save his life. I don't blame Carl for being upset, but to think that the loss of Frank, Willie and his "leadership" will lead to the demise of this team is laughable. Carl may be right: we may fall flat on our face this season. But I'm quite confident that it won't be because the absence of himself, Frank and Willie, or even Aaron.
  20. Meh...just Carl being Carl. No offense to Carl, cause he seems to be a decent guy, but its hard to take anything he says seriously. His words have kind of turned him into a walking punchline throughout his career. But I've said it previously about Frank: nobody likes to be dumped, and I can't blame him for being unhappy about it. Don't agree with him, but whatever. He'll get over it. And I'm sure this current team has already moved on.
  21. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) IMO Ozzie should start Cintron in CF every single day until he learns the position... It can't be too hard... From what I understand he has a decent arm... With Cintron as our starting CF that means that Brian Anderson can stay in AAA to get his at bats and lets us keep both Gload and Borchard on the bench... Yah, ummm...no thanks. First of all, using players out of position is a not a good idea for a contending team, especially one that is built around pitching and defense. I also find it hard to believe that CF is that easy to learn. And yes, Anderson appears that he still needs some work offensively. But defensively, he should be good enough. And really, thats all we need from him. Anything we get from him offensively is a bonus. It's a moot point anyway, cause Cintron ain't gonna play CF. If Anderson fails miserably, Mackowiak is the guy you're gonna see out there. I don't even see the need to put Cintron anywhere else than the infield.
