  1. If Thome left whining like Maggs and Frank did, I'd have little problem with him being booed. But from what I remember, Thome had a rather peaceful departure, and he's about as classy a player as they come.
  2. If we have learned anything about Uribe, outside of being an outstanding defensive player, its that he is a crazy streaky hitter. He'll go through stretches that make you wonder if he'll ever get a hit again. And then he'll follow it up with a stretch that makes you wonder if he'll ever stop mashing. I wish he would balance it off and manage some consistancy over the course of a year, but he is what he is. Either way, I'd take him over 80% of the shortstops around the league.
  3. QUOTE(VenomSox @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) It seems like Ozzie has been scared to use him the past two days. Or has it just been a lefty righty thing? Well, he finished up the first two games against the Angels and pitched the last game in Seattle. How does Ozzie seemed "scared" to use him?
  4. Actually, I didn't think Jon looked all that bad. The only player who really got to him was Cabrera (3 hits) and he's got a pretty good history against him. If he gets that one pitch a few inches more inside, Jon only gives up 3 runs for the day. He didn't look spectacular, but I'll take it.
  5. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) 17-7 After starting out 1-4. Which, of course, means that we are 16-3 over our last 19. Not bad. Not bad at all.
  6. How bout some props for Pablo! Another Pablo stolen base comes back to haunt the Halos!
  7. What the f***? I thought the game was over in the first inning? Courtesy of santo=dorf
  8. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Safe bet: If we win today, Ross Gload will play a big part in the game. Safe bet: A beach ball will make its way onto the field.
  9. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Anybody else noticing a pattern here: Sox at home, nice weather. Sox on road, weather in Chicago sucks. Cubs get rained on or temp in the 40's. I don't think I understand...the Cubs suck, rain or shine.
  10. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) Can someone give me a quick overview of what's happened these 2 innings? And did the Angels do something dirty? Single by Figgins, double by Cabrera scored Figgins. Cabrera scored when Paulie tried to get him out at home. 2 runs. Offense hasn't done much so far. Crede was hit, but it wasn't intentional and it actually hit the knob of the bat (remember, we are cheaters). Oh, and TitoMB345 thinks the game is over.
  11. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) 2 on, 1 out. NO DICE! Good job, Sunday lineup! Widger blows. You must be a joy to watch a game with.
  12. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Well, can't expect to win with this crap lineup (again). We had a chance for our first sweep since what, 1992? Too bad. :headshake
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) At least we won the series cuz this pitching matchup sucks Based on this years statistics, yes. But Santana is the same guy who s*** his pants in Game 4 of the ALCS. And Garland seems to be getting his stuff together. We'll see.
  14. Speaking of Geoff Blum, I found this off the AP wire.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 29, 2006 -> 08:36 AM) Well done.
  16. Anybody got large HQ photos of the banner ceremony? Its noticably absent from my collection.
  17. One more from me. Not sure this is his rookie card, but still...
  18. Scotty... ...and of course, The Truth
  19. QUOTE(Walker2Baines @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 02:36 AM) This from Baseball Reference's Similar Pitchers through Age 26 John Candelaria (957) Mike Hampton (949) Mark Mulder (945) Jim Merritt (944) Tom Glavine (942) Bill Monbouquette (940) Ross Grimsley (939) Dave McNally (937) Mark Gubicza (936) Tony Cloninger (935) Of those listed only Glavine will make the HOF. Others fizzled out for whatever reason. So please stop this BS about MB. He's nothing about a crybaby. Hey MB great game vs Seattle. Hey are they cheating??? When you type in Randy Johnson's name, some of the names that come up are Danny McDevitt, Ken Kravec, Chris Nabholz, A.J. Burnett, Stan Williams, Kirby Higbe, Chuck Finley, and Allie Reynolds...so I'd say that this list is a s***ty way to validate whatever it is you are trying to say.
  20. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) why all the becket hate? I will ALWAYS have a place in my heart for the 2003 marlins and Beckett is definately towards the top of that list. I think it has a little bit to do with most of the national media already giving him the Cy Young award. And being that he is doing it for Boston, ESPN has seemingly put him on the fast track to the hall of fame. I guess with Beckett's poor outing, that makes Curt Schilling the odds-on favorite for MVP, Cy Young, Comeback Player of the Year, Nobel Peace Prize, and the successor to Queen Elizabeth. By the way, am I the only person who thinks that Schilling is a bigger blowhard than Bonds? I'm assuming that I am, but I can live with that.
  21. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) Scrubs? Not sure who those might be. Like maybe Geoff Blum you mean? Yep, I bet he didn't benefit from ocassional playing time and a cofidence boost at all, especially when we needed him most. If you make a guy feel like a scrub, he's gonna perform like one. All I'm saying is we are in a position where a loss here and there is not gonna kill our season, so you HAVE to be sure every member of the team is ready to go when called upon. If you yank a starter as soon as he gets in a little bit of trouble, or leave a guy on the bench to rot or pinch hit for him in a tough situation, what do you expect him to do when he's in a situation where you HAVE to play him? Personally, I thought throwing out a completely different lineup was a wise decision last night, even though it didn't necessarily work. Our guys have a hell of a hard time hitting Moyer. Dye for instance, is terrible against him, enough so that AJ said on Mike North yesterday that Dye wasn't playing by request. Either way, as much as people criticized Ozzie's use of the Sunday lineup last year, I think it eventually paid off. And with the strong bench we have, we can afford putting Cintron, Mack and Ozuna in there all at once.
  22. Is it time for Kalapse to remove the "N" from MBINAA?
