  1. Apparently, some of the players aren't sure who to root for in this series...
  2. Well, I'm getting a good dose of what it feels like to root for the Cubs. I'm gonna have to take a shower.
  3. I was too young to actually remember meeting him, but my brother went to high school (Elk Grove High School to be exact) with former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist and Elk Grove native James Iha. Coincidentally, my brother had a band in high school and Iha would fill in from time to time when they needed an extra. Played in the basement of my old house. My Mom told me that he was "a very strange kid." Yup, James Iha. The most famous person ever to come out of Elk Grove...well, besides Dave Otto.
  4. I'll always love the Pedro Martinez/Gerald Williams brawl. Something about seeing Williams look down at his wrist and back at Pedro just cracks me up. It was as if Williams was saying "Did you just hit me? Let me check. Yah, you just hit me! How dare you!" f***ing hilarious!
  5. I gots a feeling that Ozzie will have plenty to say after this one.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) You know I'm Mr. Pessimism, but this is not that big of a deal. Even before the 2nd HBP, our players looked sluggish. I don't have the impression that they were overly focused tonight. ^^^^^^ I really think too much has been made out of this one. We have played s***ty baseball tonight. As of recently, we appear to be playing s***ty baseball every third game, whatever that means. As much as it seems our heads have been up our asses tonight, Padilla has actually pitched a hell of a ballgame.
  7. I'm probably wrong, but I swear I heard somebody that sounded a lot like Ozzie yell "Get back on the f***ing mound" right after Padilla thought he had strike 3. Probably just a fan, but I know I heard it.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) So why do it when you're actually winning? Cause he really doesn't like AJ and doesn't give a s*** what the score is, which if his reputation around the league tells us anything, isn't out of the realm of possibility. I don't want a beanball war, but I don't know how you can call either of those HBP's unintentional. It looked pretty damn obvious.
  9. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) ESPN2HD has been on Comcast since last week, at least I had it last week. I noticed it Friday night when watching the CWS. I was scaning the channels for the sox game and noticed ESPN2HD on channel 203. Its about time.... Nice. I got Comcast as well and just checked 203 right after I read your post. Sure enough, ESPN2HD is there. The more HD the better. In my best Hawk voice...I love HDTV.
  10. Tonights win was all about Garland and the bullpen. Both looked very good against a great hitting team. Definitely encouraging.
  11. This thread needed to be bumped. The channel is currently stuttering on my end. God, I hate the U!

    "I call him G.O.A.T, because he's the Greatest of All-Time," Brian Anderson on Pablo Ozuna.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) BA looked good tonight huh? All things considered, yes. Got a double and a walk and worked the count pretty well in all his at bats. I ain't getting too excited, but coming off the homer yesterday and a game saving play the day before, it appears BA might be getting some confidence back.
  14. Two outs, runners on 1st and 3rd. Take about 5 Boone Logans and you have the DRays bullpen. ...and they somehow get out of the inning. They go to extras.
  15. D-Rays bullpen aint helping matters at the moment. By the way, Anderson has looked much better the past couple nights. He's got a ways to go, but you gotta start somewhere.
  16. The way I interpereted Ozzie's rant was that he thought Grimsley's outing of other players was a dick thing to do. While I'd prefer that Ozzie took a lighter stance on the situation (as the Sox higher ups seem to feel, according to this article), I'd be willing to bet that most people in the sport are pretty pissed at Grimsley, whether this incident ends up being good for baseball or not. IMO, there is a big difference between being a whistle blower and a douche bag who got caught and wanted others to suffer with him. I wouldn't think that other players and coaches are exactly pleased with this development. But since I obviously ain't in the clubhouse, I won't speculate any further. Personally, if this plays any role in cleaning up baseball, I'm fine with it. But I also understand why Ozzie and others would be quite pissed at Grimsley. And I also don't see how his argument can be viewed as Ozzie being "Pro steroids".
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) So we're halfway around the infield now. I'm assuming Tadahito Iguchi will be the next to feel shoota's wrath? Pauly grounded into a double play today, so I'm guessing a "Paul Konerko is overrated" thread is next. Either that, or a thread bashing Hawk and DJ for not recognizing this fact.
  18. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) squirrel?
  19. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) Why Mack in left? I dont get it. Got a better idea?
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) So, here's a tough question. Jenks will face Broussard to start the 9th. He sits on the first pitch fastball, but that's what Jenks has been using successfully so he can get 2 strikes and throw his hook. What will Jenks do? All I know is that Hafner isn't due up. That alone is making me breathe much easier.
  21. This is why people who give up on games in the 6th inning make me want to drink gasoline.
  22. QUOTE(jenksd @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) I cannot defend my arguments without visual aids. Well done.
  23. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) It's going to be fun watching our offense hit against Sabathia tomorrow. Could someone explain what "ball 4, base hit" means again? Basically, Hawk means ball 4 "or" base hit. He's saving words I guess.
  24. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) I thought Oz was known for his not being conventional last year and that was part of his excellence. He is unconventional with just about everything else. But he's always gone with the lefty/lefty, righty/righty deal. Hence why he'd always bring in Marte last year regardless of the fact that he sucked against lefties. I'd be a lot more pissed about it if this wasn't standard for almost every major league manager.
