QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) Yeah, I've heard of it. So what makes people so sure the Nats would want to stick a guy in left who's been a 3rd baseman his entire baseball career? They are the same guys who took a career 2nd baseman and stook him in left.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:59 PM) Ryan Zimmerman, people. The Nats don't need Fields. I'm probably wrong on this one, but isn't Fields bound to end up in the outfield?

Do you have any trade concerns re other teams?
KevHead0881 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd be much more concerned about other AL contenders significantly upgrading their pitching. For instance, I'd be more upset if the Tigers were to land John Smoltz then if they were to add Soriano or Abreu. Luckily, the Braves are back in the wild card race and he probably isn't going anywhere. As was the case with us last year, its gonna be the pitching that makes or breaks many of these teams, in my opinion. -
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:24 AM) It's gotten to the point where even if it's true, I pretty much don't believe anything KW says publicly regarding trades or player movement. Yup. Even if nothing major happens, this sounds like "under the radar" talk to me. If there is someone that KW wants badly enough, I can still see Fields or Sweeney being moved. Either way, if Fields and/or Sweeney were there for the taking, do you really think Kenny would tell the press that?

HR for Joe. The Rally Crede is currently working its magic.

JR Smith shipped to Den. for picks and Eisley
KevHead0881 replied to knightni's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The talk that I've heard since we got Smith was that a Scott Skiles/J.R. Smith relationship would have disaster written all over it. My guess is that part of the Chandler rested on us taking Smith off the Hornets hands. Sounds like he isn't exactly a coaches dream. -
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) Just watch sportscenter for scores and highlights with the sound off...My word of advice is to avoid any other show on espn... As much as I hate ESPN, PTI is still very watchable. When its Kornheiser and Wilbon, and not some fill-in, there isn't a better sports show on the planet... ...besides George Michaels Sports Machine, of course.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) No "rally Abe Vigoda?" Seriously though, that was one of my favorite avatars Abe will be back. Oh yes, Abe will be back.

As much as I want the adopt the Rally Anderson, its hard to ignore the power of the Rally Crede. I'm on board.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) Garcia has been pitching like the 5th starter from years ago to the AL this year. So take that for what its worth. Well, as frustrating as Garcia has been this year, that is far from the case. Back in 2004, I would have taken the 2006 Garcia over the cast of characters we were throwing out there every fifth day. Either way, I'm still in favor of trading him. But a potential injury still scares the bejesus out of me.
-
QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) yes but you have to be concerned about injury. if anything happens and we dont have bmac, we are in big trouble That would be my only concern in a Garcia/Vazquez deal. Without one of those guys, we'd be an injury away from having our pre-2005 5th starter situation. Yikes! But besides that, if we can swing one of those guys for bullpen help (particularly Gordon), then all the sudden we improve our rotation with the addition of McCarthy, and improve our bullpen with the addition of (insert name here). Either way, I like the position we are sitting in.
-
Sometimes I enjoy the national perspective of things, just for something different. Anyways, it was cool to see a positive perspective nationally on our favorite catcher...
-
The only thing I found interesting was his comments on the daily happenings in the bullpen. Said that the youngest guy (either him, Logan or Montero) usually has to carry a bucket of candy out to the there. Jenks is the clown of the bullpen and McCarthy said the big guy does a lot of childish things out there (throwing candy, burning ants, making mud piles, etc.). Said it can get pretty boring and most of the guys usually drink a can of Red Bull before they warm up to get the adreneline going. McCarthy is always a good interview.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) technically libel Yah, thats it. If I remember correctly, wasn't it an ESPN magazine piece that came out a few years ago that started all the speculation about Bobby's character? I remember hearing that Bobby was quite pissed about that article.
-
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) Well said my friend. It's filled with half-truths, half-heards, and rampant speculation. If I was Jenks, I would seek any avenue of legal recourse available. It's borderline slander, and I at least think an apology is in order. Its definitely slander. You throw words like "skinhead", "racist", "white supremecist" and "drunk" around like that, you should have some proof behind it. This article has absolutely no evidence behind these claims, and doesn't even conclude to anything. So basically, you have an article that had nothing to say other than Bobby Jenks might be a really bad person, with absolutely nothing to prove it. Not sure how much stock the national media puts into s*** posted on Page 2, but if this started circulating around, Jenks should definitely seek legal action.
-
So, we have an article that tries to find out who the real Bobby Jenks is; they actually talk to him as he refutes every unproven rumor out there on him; and they conclude it by saying they still don't know who he is. Why did they even bother talking to him if they were just going to shove everything he said under the rug?

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
KevHead0881 replied to greasywheels121's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Well, not that this bothers me, because the ESPY's are f***ing dumb. But the Steelers won the "Best Team" award tonight, according to this... ESPY's Live Chat Won't be aired till Sunday. Just found it typical. -

I also think that at least 95% of major league hitters get "visibly pissy" over popups.

QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) I've watched most of this (missed a bit here and there) and I think this year's has been somewhat dissapointing compared to past years. No one really has gone on a big tear sans Howard and Wright. Its just not as fun without the roid rage.
-
Ok, I just turned the Derby back on, and just noticed something... Man Soo Lee has been doing all the catching tonight. EDIT: Oops, Funky beat me to it.
-
Well, thats enough home run derby for me. Time to watch Mr. Belvedere.

Papi gives Willie Harris a shout out.

From Buster Olney's blog. Basically mentioning the same rumor... Yah, I don't like this one bit. I'm all for trading prospects, but McCarthy and Anderson, I believe, are guys we are going to need this year. At the very least, Anderson provides great defense that we need in CF, and McCarthy gives us one more guy to keep us from going to Politte. He also is good insurance if something happens to the rotation. As much as I like Schmidt, adding him at this cost would take a lot of depth out of the current roster...and our depth from top to bottom may be our greatest strength.
