With all the Burnett and Schmidt talk going on around here, the Joe Randa talk has died down recently. But, I was watching the Reds/Rockies game (Free trial of MLB Extra Bases), and they mentioned a handfull of scouts that were attending the game. One of them was from the White Sox. Now, I can only assume that they're scouting Joe Randa, but Eric Milton is pitching too, so they may be looking at him as well (kind of uneasy about that). Anyways, with Crede's back issues and struggles at the plate, I think a move for Randa could be a good one. Not to mention that I don't think we'd have to give up a ton for him. Your thoughts?

Yah, Mark was trying to throw a curveball at Hafner's face. That makes a lot of sense. To tell you the truth, I'm don't think the Sox/Indians rivalry it all that heated. Unless I'm missing something, I don't know of any bad blood between us and them. But I'm sure if there was, Kevin Kennedy would know it.

I've always liked the Cardinals partly because they always kicked the Cubs asses and partly because they play in a great atmosphere and in a great baseball team. My other favorite is the Rockies. Colorado is basically my home away from home, and I've always rooted for teams out there. Unfortunately, they totally suck.

I've never understood the obsessive need to get Burnett. He's a good pitcher who would look nice in our rotation, but if it costs us Contreras and Marte, I'm really not sure if that makes us better. The Count's inconsistancy drives me insane, but Burnett's history shows that he won't help my sanity either. I'd take him, but only if it didn't cost us a guy that is currently doing a decent job in our rotation. My guess is that Florida's asking price won't be worth it. With that being said, I think we'd be better served finding a middle of the road guy that we wouldn't have to break the bank for. If that kind of pitcher isn't available, then go find some bats or bullpen help. One more thing, if the Marte we saw last night is the Marte we're gonna see the rest of the season, you can't underestimate the importance he'd have in our bullpen. If he's involved in any trade package, it better be because the Sox believe that he is still the same inconsistant Marte that we've seen the past year and a half.
