QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) Clement hasn't been that effective lately. He may be entering his fade a little earlier this season. They go against Clement, Wakefield, Miller and Arroyo. They can win 3 of these games. I actually like our chances against those 4. None of them have ERA's under 4, and Miller has been crap.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Farmio was doing a number on the sox and how not everyone is Cy Young. How our offense is struggling. Maybe its not just a few people in game threads thinking this. I agree that our offense is struggling, and I'm all for picking up another bat. Just saying that the good pitching we've seen the past couple nights ain't helping matters. Hell, Douglass looked filthy in game 1.
-
While I agree that we need some offensive help and it is showing today, I'm not blaming our poor performance today entirely on our offense. Nate Robertson ain't bad. He's actually pretty good. Gotta give him some credit.

Didn't see this posted, but it basically sums up my feelings on the AJ Burnett situation. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writ...hers/index.html

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) I would have liked to land Graffy as a utility guy, but it was a longshot based on KC in the divison. O well, good for Tony, always a fan of of him. KC is in our division? I didn't even know they were in the same league.

Ok, it looks like they changed things. In their recent press release, it says this:

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) Waving white socks should be a HUGE Sox tradition. Not sure why it never catches on. Cause socks belong on your feet. Seriously though, your right. It kinda cought on in '93, and I remember it being quite a sight.

Oh my god, Mr. f***ing T!!! From whitesox.com:

QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Donnie Brasco (NY): If Hermanson is out long term, would the White Sox go out and get a solid closer? Politte's worst year was as a closer so I don't think he is viewed as a long-term solution. Any thoughts? Rob Neyer: (2:40 PM ET ) Wash same answer. Rinse. Repeat. The White Sox are so far ahead of the Twins, does the status of Hermanson really matter? Damaso Marte's capable of closing games, and now Bobby Jenks is the closer-in-waiting. But what's wrong with Hermanson? Something just happen? Dont these so called experts read the newspaper I kind of agree with Neyer here. If there is a deal out there that makes sense, then I say you try and bring that guy, be it Wagner or Guardado. But I wouldn't hit the panic button. While they haven't proven to close games as well as Hermanson, I think that Politte and Marte can hold the fort for a few weeks. Wagner or Guardado would be nice, but I'd like to wait the Hermanson situation out a little bit.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) Though KW keeps trying to get Carl Everett back as well, it just the GM refuses to call KW back..He can't figure out why that is. Can't figure out whats worse: your lame attempt of a joke, or your total lack of original material.

Well, as long as we are talking about meaningless banter from ESPN hacks... ...Jim Caple just predicted in his chat that we'll be in the World Series.
-
We're 13 games up right now. Anybody else think that we could "survive" with a Politte/Marte combo to close games? Their closing history is a tad scary, but I say its worth a shot. Especially considering Politte's rediculous success this season.

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:25 AM) Im scared this might awaken the cubs chances Seriously, you're talking about Jody Gerut here.
-
Jody Gerut? Meh. He's ok. Dubois has some major power potential and is much better suited in the AL. Not so sure Hendry fleaced the Indians here.
-
Ok, gotta question. I thought I knew a lot about baseball, but for whatever reason, I drew a blank on this one. So, Crede is up, and Carl Everett comes out to the on-deck circle to pinch hit for Uribe. So what happens after Crede hits the homerun? Uribe comes back out to hit. Can you really do that? I know, this must sound like a stupid question to most of you, but I just don't remember seeing that happen.

QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) I don't mean to insult people who are against posting articles, but I'd like to say I'm not going to shed a tear over a multi-billion dollar giant like ESPN (and further down the line, Disney) losing a couple bucks over the posting. Especially since Jayson Stark's articles, Peter Gammons's articles, Rob Neyer's articles and Rumor Central all used to be free of charge. It is their right, of course, to charge for what they want, but it has left an increasingly bad taste in my mouth that they continue to take away more and more free content. It also is the right of the person who paid for the membership to do with it what he or she wishes, in my opinion. As the person who posted the article, I still have to side with those in objection. While I'm the one who paid for the service and I normally will do what I want to with it, posting it on this site brings potential problems to SoxTalk, legally that is. Had I thought of this beforehand, I would not have posted it. While there are a great many things you can do on this site, one thing that shouldn't be allowed is anything (content or material) that is detrimental to the site. With that being said, I still choose to put my ESPN account at risk by offering Insider content to any of those who request it. If anybody wants any Insider related material, feel free to email me and I'll email it back to ya. Let me deal with ESPN's lawyers.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) And we all love you for it. I'd love you even more if there was a pic of Abe Vigoda in your avatar. I like to hide "Tessio" under the radar.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) If he pays and decides to share, that's on him....his choice, his dough. Thats what I was thinking, but I don't want to get the site in trouble. Consider it a "sneak peek".

Sorry. Didn't know the rules. Just sharing the wealth.

I think its that Eric Casilias douche bag. Whatever. ESPN gave us no shot at the beginning of the season, so as far as I'm concerned, this is a good sign.
