QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) I noticed that when I first saw the clip on CSN. I didn't bother writing about it necause I thought everyone had already noticed. I think Timo woul beat the s*** ot of Willie btw. I wish I could find it, but there was a picture on the front page of the Trib Sports section the morning after. It had the home plate celebration going on, and right in front of it was Timo and Willie throwin blows. I don't know what was funnier, the sight of two players mock fighting during a celebration, or the fact that it was Timo and Willie doing it.

Scotty Pods is getting some national attention as well. Here's an article from the New York Times: The Art of the Steal: Podsednik Keeps Pitchers on Edge

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) No no no no.....it's "inside" voices! :headshake That might be too much to ask.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) WHY BOTHER TALKING ABOUT IT. THE CHICAGO WHITE SOX WILL NEVER ACQUIRE KEN GRIFFEY, JR! IT'S JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! KW IS SATISFIED WITH AROW IN CENTERFIELD, AND SO IS EVERYONE ELSE. THERE WILL NEVER BE A JUNIOR GRIFFEY ON THE WHITE SOX! Lets use our silent voices.

Now even more reason to hate that f***ing bat flip.

Never noticed this before, but if you watch closely in that clip, right after AJ touches home plate, you can see Timo and Willie duking it out in the top right corner. Funny s***.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) Funny Kevhead in your sig about Koch, I read where he was so pissed that Toronto released him, he vowed not to play this year so he collects every penny of the $950,000 Toronto signed him too!!! Gotta admit, despite the magnitude of his suckage, I always liked Koch's attitude. While this particular act is kind of childish, its pretty funny.

I love Frarl Thomerett!

While I think the format is goofy, it will actually get me to tune in and see what its like. I've seriously lost a lot of interest in the HR Derby in recent years. Maybe it was because the steroid freaks (take your pick) cheapened the home run all together. Or maybe I'm just bitter.

This actually made the main section in the Tribune editorials. Pretty cool.

Pretty sure we get swept this series regardless of how Ozzie managed it.

He's better than what they got, but Wilson is no more than average these days. His overall numbers are so-so, but he's hitting a whopping .224 with 5 homers outside of Coors. Considering that RFK isn't exactly hitter friendly, I don't see him making a huge impact. That being said, the Nats are still a good team and getting Wilson won't hurt.

Jenks' stuff is quite rediculous, and I'm excited to see more of him. But put me in the "need to see him more before we deem him our savior" crowd. I do have a good feeling about him though. There's a lot to like about a big fat guy throwing 100 mph. George Offman said he's been described as the baseball version of John Daly.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) No offense but that quote doesn't seem terribly original. Yah, I think Hawk has that line copywrited.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) So what does that make the Sox when they pissed themselves there earlier this year..?? A team that took them for granted.

Check out the quote from this f***o regarding the Sox attempts to get Pods in the ASG: "I don't know how that's going to go over with the players, campaigning like that," Crawford told the St. Petersburg Times late Wednesday. "It's a little bush league, probably."

The Price is Right theme song.

I have to say, there was a number of other things I thought this thread would be about when I clicked on the title.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) Exactly. Like when he said Clayton's the best SS he's ever played with. Go tell that to Royce and not the media. A Mic or taperecorder should not be put in front of PK's face. He's said these things cause he said them thinking it was no big deal...which is exactly what it is...no big deal. Why say anything to the media? He's asked questions and he gives them answers. Its as simple as that. Ignoring the fact that the comment was completely harmless (as was the Clayton quote), until we hear about dissention in the clubhouse regarding these comments, there is no reason to make any hay over it.

QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:53 PM) Someone has an axe to grind with Konerko it seems. These people are scouring the papers for anything they can possibly turn into ammo against him. Well, if this is all we can find to complain about, I'd say its a sign that things are going pretty well at the moment. Just be prepared for tomorrow's thread: Pauly likes butterflies What an asshole.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) You might be right about Patterson. There's always a gm that's gonna think "a change of scenery" will do the trick. His trade value has got to be very low, though. The thing about Patterson is that despite his suckiness, he's still got the kind of talent that makes GMs think that they can fix him. I wouldn't touch him with a 10 ft pole, but there are some dumb GMs out there...and Jim Hendry has made a habit of pawning them in recent years.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) Other than Prior, Zambrano, Lee, Ramirez, they don't have much to offer. As much as he sucks, I'm sure they could find a taker for Patterson. I also think that Burnitz would be a decent addition for a team needing an extra bat. At this moment, I don't think they'll be sellers, but if they don't get their act together soon, it might be too late for them to be buyers.

Funny thing is, Franco was old when he was with us in '94. To think that he's still a productive player at the age of 104 is impressive. As far as the Cubs go, through the first month or so I thought they were just going through the motions of a long season. It's really starting to look like they aren't a very good team. They might be sellers soon.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) Much ado about nothing. :headshake Exactly. I had to read the quote about 5 times to find anything remotely wrong with it. Its pretty easy to take a simple statement and make it sound as a slight towards someone. Notice that nowhere in the quote does he say that Pods isn't deserving of the all-star nod.
-
He's right. If the final tally was as close as everybody says it was, it would be hard to believe that Pods would have won without the strong support of the anti-Yankee/anti-Jeter contingent. We put in most of the votes and did an amazing job, but I'm pretty sure we had some outside help.
