When is the start time? -
In fact, to lighten up the mood here, I think were gonna start putting up some more light hearted banners. This first one is a masterpiece made by Greasy.

I don't give a rats ass about the Indians. The Sox need to take care of business. They are in a position where if they handle their business, they don't have to worry about anyone else in the AL. Now get err done Chicago

QUOTE(YASNY @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 07:37 AM) You should have spent the past year in training. Then you could give it another shot, so to speak. I'm sure he can still visualize the toilet bowl in his room.

There are still 2 more openings that have not been put on there yet. I think teams can carry 6 players (I may be wrong though).

This actually could make some sense. Plus if AOL could integrate with Microsoft operating systems and programs, it could really help boost their internet security pitch they have been going for for some time. It would also give Microsoft another way to gain market share of internet products, something they obviously failed with when it came to microsoft network (MSN). Is there dialup company still around?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 07:29 AM) Out of necessity a few years ago, I started flying SW, They received about 20% of my flights and caused me about 2% of my flying grief. The attitude of their employees is heads and shoulders above Continental and AA, my other two choices. Tip on SW. My favorite seat is row 2, window. I never, ever, want a window seat on a regular airplane, except for that one. The first row has two seats facing backwards, row two is three seats facing forward. There is a nice ledge that the window seat occupant can stretch out and rest. Tex, learn to grab the exit rows on the right side of the plane. 3 seats with awesome legroom, than on the left there is an exit row where one of the seats has no seat in front of it. Best spots on the plane, imo.

QUOTE(winodj @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:17 AM) Southwest is mostly not in the same boats because they get hedge contracts on fuel. Meaning that they're paying about a third less than most airlines at the moment. Or so I've heard. So they are smart enough to hedge their bets buy buying futures in oil so if the oil prices go up, there futures go up which makes the increase to their fuel a little less. Not a bad idea, especially if it works. I know anyone sucessful in international trade would do the same thing (hedging the currency) so it would make sense to hedge your fuel costs as best as possible. I'm taking an awesome international finance class right now (its my only good class, so by the end I'll be exporting Sox jerseys to australia for Dbaho, haha). Southwest is also great because they flat out have a low cost structure, but all their flights are full. They also have a younger fleat of aircrafts which helps them keep maintenance charges down. A lot of airline companies say Southwest will hit problems when their fleet gets older (same with Jet Blue) but they seem to be smart. Heck, I only fly southwest, unless I'm going to Iowa (since they don't fly to Sioux Falls, SD).

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) I should bust out my industry report. I think I said this four years ago (BEFORE 9/11). But then again, writing that wasn't rocket science. Putting together solutions was though. It's one of the reasons we got out of bankruptcy. If Warren Buffet won't invest/be a part of the airline industry, neither will I.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) They will continue to operate in what's called a "debtor in possession" status... meaning, their creditors "own" the airline while it's in bankruptcy. The hardest part about going into bankruptcy is obtaining debtor in possession funding from banks. winodj is partially right - and to flyers, it's business as normal, at least in the short term. A word of advice, use your miles, and quickly. MOST OF THE TIME, they won't touch the miles programs, but do realize that this is a liability to the company, and they can cut the frequent flier miles right out and that's that. ROFL Went to the local pool last night with my buddies and one of them had just bought a flight on Delta to fly to Georgia with his GF. They booked it the night before they filed and than the next day got an email that said there reservation price was going up. After an hr of b****ing they got that taken care of. Than he's asking us if his airline miles (I guess he has a lot of them) are still going to work. Of course none of us have a freaking clue (we ain't in the airline industry), but I'm gonna tell him this just to scare the hell out of him.

I know as a boy scout we always gave the younger scouts hell. We were the oldest patrol in our troop and considered ourselves the senior and greatest patrol Boy Scouts was fun, even though I fell a little short of Eagle.

Awesome story. -
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) Hyatt says the packages can't be booked until October 15th. This conflicts with what the Soxfest hotline and website says. I emailed Brooks on this and am awaiting response. I was thinking this is too early to book the packages. I was gonna ask if we should just book it now, but you answered that for me

ROFL, I saw you guys make this post when it was just the two of you. I had no idea what the hell you were doing. It all makes sense now...Congrats

QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) I use the Mach 3 and though by the end of a week shaving gets to be a long process, I use one blade for a week, sometimes even more. Those things are really expensive, but I like 'em. I do the same thing. Of course now I'm growing out something so I'm shaving a lot less (maybe twice a week just to keep the rest of my face clean). I hate shaving.

White Sox winner. Sox bailed out Jose who pitched solid and Jenks and the pen did its job. Way to end that slump, now lets turn this into a White Sox winning streak Fun times in the game thread

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) I hated that second year of the deal. Okay with the first year, hated the second year. I hated both years, especially the 2nd one.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) Any doubts that he signs a three year deal this off-season? None, my guess is 3 year 21 mill with a 4th year option at around 8.5-9 mill a year. He'll probably make 6 mill next year, 7 mill the following, 8 mill in his final year and than a club buyout for the option on the 4th year that would give him a guaranteed 21 mill.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) Ah, I'm the total opposite. AP Euro test in three days, essay due Thursday, 25 pages of full top of the page to bottom of the page text to read, yet I don't do it. Gotta stop procrastinating... Oh, lets not begin to talk about the 10 hr homework assignment I had due today, which I did nothing of. Luckily you don't get graded in college for homework (that was my downfall in high school). Hopefully I do good on this test cause I approached it lazier than usual. Its hard to focus now that I got my job lined up for when I graduate, but I'll find a way to get er done.
