QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) I think that they will lose to MSU, beat Minn, lose to IOWA. And end up with 5 losses. but you never know. I agree with you. They will lose in Iowa City. Michigan and Iowa will be very similar teams this season finishing with similar records. Both will be teams to reckon with next yaer though. And both have the ability to step up and beat a very good team any given Saturday.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) we don't play purdue this year. Trust me this team will win 8-9 games this year at the least. They just have to get their act together. Good luck with that. I could see 8, but you guys wont' touch 9. I didn't think you guys played Purdue, but I saw you mentioning them a few times and than assumed you guys did (Purdue has a cake schedule IIRC). And MSU is the best team in the Big 10 along with OSU. IF MSU takes care of business next week, your gonna have one hell of a game in two weeks when MSU and OSU play for in my mind the Big 10 title.

Umm...I'm pretty sure Rex is going to be gone. In fact, I think the Angels will have a whole new team and from what is being said this way Rooney may be one of those guys.- The Everett Funk
QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) what's his numbers in the last month? he's been dreadful and there's no reason that he NEEDS to start everyday. Honestly, there is every reason for him to be playing consistently, only from the back of the order. Without Everett, this team could find itself in trouble in the post-season. However, if Everett can get hot (and the only way he does this is by fighting through the slump with AB's) than he could turn into another nice bat in the playoffs. I'm not saying he should be hitting 3rd, I like it where he has been the past couple games.- Bears Vs Bengals
Ugly Ugly game, but for the most part the defense played good. If was just the Bengals working with a short field and Tillman continuing to stink on coverage.- Michigan
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) no they won't. They still have an outside chance at the big ten tittle. I ain't sold on OSU. Also Iowa has NO running game. Purdue always finds some way to blow it. MSU has a flawed defense. Im not saying it's going to be easy however don't count them out. Gimme a break, they have already loss one, they will get clobbered by OSU (OSU is vastly superior) and than you have the games against Iowa/Purude, etc. I'm not saying Iowa's great, but they are basically in the same pathetic boat as Michigan as a middle of the pack Big 10 team this year.- White Sox Playoff Possibilities
QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) According to ESPN.com, Jason Johnson is starting two games in a row for the Tigers. :headshake Once vs Garland, then vs BMAC. Then Jose is going against Sean Douglass. I'm guessing a scrub will go against BMAC. (Okay, Robertson). Double good news... no Bonderman and no Maroth. I don't care whose pitching...Sox still need to go out and play good baseball.- Indians Chatter
QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) Should we clinch the division after this Thursday, would we go in and sweep the Indians out of the playoff to face Boston/NY, or leave them in so that we can play against the Angels in the first round? I guess my question is what team do you think we would play better in the postseason - Angels or Red Sox/Yankees? It's a tough call, isn't it? Not to me. You always, always play to win. There is no switch that you can just turn on and off that says we'll play good today and than bad for a couple days and than go right back to playing good once the playoff starts. If we clinch, than you rest some guys and go easy on your starters, etc, trying to set things up, but you in no way lay down for any team. Play to win, dont' even worry about matchups...if your good enough to win it all your good enough to beat anyone.- You're the GM: White Sox edition
Resign Konerko Deal Marte/Duque and Ryan Sweeney for Carlos Delgado (I've been on the Delgado bandwagon for a while and Florida is going to have to get rid of him). Sign a lefty reliever to replace Marte (it would be nice if this guy was the veteran swing man who could ocassionally start) Exercise option on Politte Give Garland a 3yr deal worth 18-24 mill (depending on incentives) Pick up a veteran swingman to enter the pen (who could start if someone falters or gets hurt) Give AJ a 2yr 8 mill deal with a club option for a 3rd year worth 5 million Basically the lineup stays status quo with one exception: Pods Rowand Iguchi Delgado Konerko Pyrzinski Dye Crede Uribe You could switch the lineup up and keep Rowand down in the lineup but I think Guchi could do some good things. You basically add a legitimate middle of the order bat, keep the pitching staff in-tact, and maybe add something to the back of the pen while resigning everyone.- Josh Rupe
QUOTE(Randar68 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 06:50 AM) KW was technically the GM, even though Ron was behind a lot of that trade, KW was still the guy that pulled the trigger. Not like anoy of the guys we gave up have done much of anything, though. Wells is perfect in a place where they never play any important games and there's no pressure. Bring him back here, and he'd be back to his old self... Realistically as bad as that deal looked at first, he hasn't turned out quite as awful. Kip Wells started off looking really good, but the past two years he's battled some injuries and really hasn't been anything special. That said, for a couple years he would of looked real nice in the #5 spot on the southside. As far as Josh Fogg goes, he had a quick start after the trade but has never really amounted to anything that good either. Sean Lowe pretty much dissapeared. I hated the trade from day one, but one thing I can say is most everyone KW has dealt hasn't went on to become a star. Gary Majewski is about the best looking of all of the prospects he's dealt and I was about the only person that ever liked him that much as a prospect Of course the verdict is still out on Josh Rupe, who has a pretty damn good arm if you ask me. I haven't looked at how Ring's done with the Mets this year but I know he showed a lot of improvements early this season with his new sidearm delivery so he could also be a guy they miss. Considering all the deals he's made, I have zero complaints about any of them for the most part. They all made some sense (as to why we needed the players) they just for whatever reason didn't pan out (at least not all of them). Edit: I guess I should mention Jeremy Reed. Really solid defensively, still has to develop offensively.- Michigan
They aren't a good team. I was going to pick Wisconsin in our pickem and last second changed it just because I didn't think Wiscy was anything special either. What really killed me was not going with Minny over Purdue like I was planning. I decided one big upset (trying to pick Oregon over USC) was enough for me.- Your Personal W-L Record

I know where I stand, the Sox still have to take care of business and until they do, I'll be rooting for White Sox wins. Cleveland, Boston, and the Yanks losing will be icing on the cake every day.- Happy Birthday Steff!
Happy Bday Steff. I knew you'd bring the Sox a winner yesterday Hope it was a good one- Question will be answered today....

Really touching story.- Attendance.
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) huge increase in attendence this season and assuming we hold the division lead no reason for it not to continue to go up next season. If we do indeed lose the division It will be really bad for attendence next year... even if we do make wildcard. A course a run in the playoffs would help 2 or a 0-3 losing would really hurt. But for this season a lot I thought it was a great improvement. Disagree, people don't remember how you got into the playoffs, they just remember what you do in the playoffs and that you made it.- Official College Football Thread
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) Yeah that's a tough stretch. -- They could lose 3 of those. I can't see them dropping all 4 of them. Of course, Hart could come back like Rex said, and they could win three of those games too. -- I can't see them running the table against those teams, even with Hart. I can't either...not the way our Hawkeyes are playing. I think they'll figure things out, but I expect at the very least one more loss on the way and realistically two. They need to get there line in better shape for next year (both lines).- Official College Football Thread
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) Wisconsin is going to be tough to beat by anyone in the Big Ten, or anyone in the nation for that matter. That OL with Calhoun behind it is something special. UNC ran for something like 40 yards against Wisconsin and yet today against NC State with 4 guys on the DL that will be playing in the NFL, they got over 180 rushing. Calhoun also ripped off 150+ yards on Carolina and Carolina held NC State to 20 yards rushing today, thats with 4 backs that were top 20 coming out of high school all rushing for state. Wisconsin is for real. As for Louisville, am I reading that right? Are they losing to SOUTH FLORIDA 45-14? I keep reading that score, I just can't get it through my head. What? How? Ya, I saw that score and was like cripes. Thats one I couldn't see happening. Louisville pretty much had a cake-walk to an undefeated schedule but thats why they play the games.- Official College Football Thread
Michigan is on the verge of a 2 game losing streak now. Cause its just a matter of time till they get drilled by MSU next week. MSU....The best team in the Big 10.- Everett Not Happy
Ozzie handled this situation extremely well, imo. He wasn't afraid of it like Baker was when talking about demoting Sosa. This could be one of the key's to the rest of the season. And I think its going to turn out great.- Konerko talks about Contract Situation
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 06:33 AM) If I'm Konerko and I get even the same money that the Sox would offer elsewhere, I'd walk. It has been a very frustrating past 5 years for the Sox, year after year having a shot at making it and falling short. I don't see the '06 Sox as a playoff team. Even if we make the playoffs this year and do well, I'd understand if he walked. There are quite a few teams that would like to be in that position. Not many teams are in contention year in year out. The Sox have done just that. In fact, I gotta be honest, the Sox organization has some similarities to the Angels organization before it won the series. They had the same solid nucleus around for a couple years, always having big expectations but never having things pan out. They finally added Appier and Sele in the offseason, giving them some solid pitchers (or so they thought) and found a way to get in the playoffs and went from there. Ever since than there entire organizaiton has changed. My point is, as long as you can compete and are in the races, you have a chance each and every year to do something special. Detroit, KC, probably 20 teams in the majors would love to be in the position the Sox have been the past couple years.- Konerko talks about Contract Situation
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 04:57 AM) Interesting Statement here; The Red Sox and Angels look to be the 2 teams most interested in him. If the Sox are going to compete next year, Konerko needs to be resigned. There is absolutely zero doubt in my mind that he will be one of the key's to the off-season. The Sox can not afford to let him walk.- Official College Football Thread
