No, I was just looking on the net and found the photo so I put it up. I'm a big Borchard fan. The guys going to be great, I'm definately with you on that. He's my new favorite position prospect in the majors now that Crede has finally joined the big club.
  2. Listen, season-ending trades suck sometimes and fans do suffer, but, common, if you think Danny Darwin-led team was going to catch the Indians powerhouse (that eventually was 2 outs away from winning the friggin' championshiop!) that year, I have a nice bridge...Hawk is a FRANCHISE announcer, but so what? He is a funny and insighful commentator (I don't think anyone who praised Steve Stone can contest that; he may not have the academic vocabulary down, but this aint academia-land), so what else do you want? For him to take JR to task? Even our GM's can't do that, FCOL. the indian powerhouse that year that came within 2 outs of the world series won 86 games..they only had two pitcher win more than 10 games and out of their starting 5 eras's ranged from 4.28 to 5.65....that was no powerhouse... had we traded at that deadline for help instead of dumping..we could have easily caught the indians...plus..its a PR disaster to give up only 3 games out of 1st....after the sox, no team in baseball will ever do that a..no matter how hopeless they feel the situation is...hell, teams 8 -10 games back are trading to improve..and look at st louis in '01...8 games back..trade for woody williams (who they still have) and he catches fire and leads them to the playoffs...you never know if we would have traded for someone to help that team if he would have been our woody williams... plus the indians winning only 86 games but going to the series only emphasizes how weak the AL was that year and how good are chances were if we just got in it... plus,plus...who do have left from the white flag trade 6 years later..all those prospects??..no one..and what did we accomplish with them when we had them??..one division title and a 3 and out in the playoffs worst move for the sox since the players in '19 threw the series... Baggs, I remember the day we made that trade. I had tickets to the Angels Sox game that day. I was almost in tears - tears of anger. I went with my dad and two friends. I couldn't believe what had happened. On that day I swore that I would never support the White Sox again. That was the only game I have ever rooted against the Sox. The next day I calmed down a bit, but I never understood why they made that trade. They freaking gave up. I was only 11 or 12 at the time so I didn't really understand the idea of prospects but I knew what they were. I remember the tv analysts saying the Sox got absolutely nothing and that it was a shocker. I was so freaking pissed off at that deal. I ended up sitting behind Robin Ventura's dad and talking to him, pretty cool guy. I think Robin had just came back like the week before after that horrible injury. The only day in my life I wasn't a Sox fan. I hated JR for that, but since then I've learned a lot more. Looking back, we didn't give up that much and got some really good arms, but at that time I was growing into becoming a diehard fan, although I've basically been diehard since I was 6, reading the sports page everyday and watching the games when I saw them on tv.
  3. My thoughts exactly(UNLESS it is a player like Lofton that we are trading and we would be getting two pretty good arms in return). It wouldn't hurt getting a good defensive catcher that is coming out of college....give him 2-3 years, and he would be able to be up. Also in that round we could be getting a very, very good player with raw talent. And every once in a while, you'll get lucky and get a 38th round draft pick and he turns out to be your ace. Damn! Why weren't you guys here when that trade was made? Everyone ripped on me saying that we'd have gotten nothing for Ray if we didn't trade him. I was saying we'd be better off with the pick instead of a 6.+ ERA pitcher in Adkins. i was here right with ya ripping on that trade..for about 2 days..then i got so pissed off at the sox i quit watching the rest of the season...just couldnt take KW's incompetence anymore I do remember that. I also remember Baggs and I being the most vocal when it came to the Ritchie deal.
  4. I don't buy into his talk for pitching for a contender. If he wanted to do that he would of signed the deal KW had on the table. I think he may eventually come back, but the question is will he be willing to admit that he was wrong on what he thought his market value was. Plus Texas has an offer out there for good money once May roles around, but who knows.
  5. I got screwed this past year trying to pick up tickets to the World Series. The server goofed, order too many tickets for me and when I tried to lower the number the server crashed and I wasn't able to get any. At least you got them to one game.
  6. Ritchie will be one of there better pitchers. He won't be near as bad as last season, plus he won't be playing for anything.
  7. Wow, I haven't heard that rumor, but it would shock me. By the way, welcome aboard
  8. Well I remember quite a few players mentioning last season how much better the clubhouse got after the trade deadline. I'm sure some of that had to do with Royce leaving, but it also had to do with the new players coming up bringing an upbeat attitude.
  9. So was it Stairway to Heaven or Over the Hills or something?
  10. We don't owe France f***ing s***. Ever heard of the Revolutionary War, dumbf***? Jesus Christ, you are narrow-minded. I'd say that the United States more than made up for any help that France afforded us in the Revolutionary War as evidenced by the nine US Armed Forces Cemetaries in France with at least 10,000 dead American soldiers buried just during WW's I and II. Karko isn't as narrow-minded as you think my friend. We also helped rebuild the entire European Economy after WWII and didn't ever ask for a dime of that money back.
  11. We don't owe France f***ing s***. Ever heard of the Revolutionary War, dumbf***? Jesus Christ, you are narrow-minded. And then there are the World War's. When is enough enough when it comes to bailing them out. And for everyone that alwasy talks about people helping others for a motive, lets remember France didn't do it all because of how freaking kind they were. They did it for once reason, they hated the British, plain and simple. THey didn't do it because they bought into our cause, they wanted to f*** the British. Oh ya, so far from what I've learned, we didn't have it all that bad in the New World, we were just so used to ruling ourselves for 100-200 years that when Britian finally noticed we were out there and tried to real us in and pay some taxes, we just were too used to our own style and didn't want any of it. It wasn't like the English were the Spaniards and conquering everyone by force saying they had to marry the natives or anything like that. Kind of off subject, but ehh.
  12. after watching clayton the first month he was here..i was scratching my head going why the hell didnt we just go with delaero if we wanted a no hit - great glove SS??? jason hit a little better last year , right??...maybe he will finally get it this year..what nus if he hit like 290 at charlotte this year..with jose leaving next year he's got one more shot to get his chance... Maybe we aught to say screw pitching with him and just hope that one day he can hit. Heck with that kind of defensive ability, lets hire 2 personal hitting coaches for him. Man that sounds like the most unbelievable player ever.

  14. Interesting, he'll be talking to the media. Is he going to say he's willing to play for free, so JR can go get Beltran or something?
  15. He would of had the best arm of any shortstops in the majors had he came up. Throws about 97 or so now that he's a pitcher.
  16. I dont' think so. im pretty sure danny does throw a knuckle curve..atleast i thought iheard that mentioned by DJ a few times last year You know what, come to think of it, I think your Wright
  17. Hawk and Whimpy were great. I heard them growing up and I was so pissed when they left. I thought DJ sucked at first, but now I've gotten used to them two and think they are pretty good. Steve Stone is damn good too. Chip is an idiot, but Stoney is one of the sharpest guys out there when it comes to baseball, and its why I've always felt he'd make an excellent pitching coach.
  18. Mark Johnson could be up there as well considering he was a first round pick, but a ton of catchers fail.
  19. I'll be watching it from california, probably from my house with a couple buddies there. Now if we talk about the series and the Sox are there, well then I'm flying out. And Chunk, don't worry, the good times are going to start once the playoffs roll around. This is going to be an awesome yeare, I can feel it
  20. If I recall before coming to the Sox he was pretty sucessful out of the relief role.
  21. out of all the guys KW let walk..durham is the one i cant figure out I'd of kept Durham and moved Manos any day of the week. I think we could of got Adkins or someone of his ability for Manos. I do think Adkins could surprise if he learns an offspeed pitch.
  22. I think thats why KW had to finally force him out of town. Jerry didn't ever want to fire him since they were such great buddies. I wonder if KW wanted him out of there way before that. I kind of think he did, but didn't have enough pull at the time since Manuel was coming off a manager of the year award.
  23. Everyone can say what they will about Mark Johnson, but, he was the only player on our team that could bunt effectively. Granted, some of MJ's bunts were full swings, but they were good bunts nonetheless . Harris is a decent bunter, so was Kenny when we had him.
  24. I'm going to go with Caruso simply because after his rookie year he had me so excited that we had such a good shortstop. Then he completely sucked.
  25. They still make Jolt. Wow, I have a mission now. I haven't had that since I was a kid. I know what you mean. I haven't heard of that stuff in a while.
