  1. You should see some layout changes emerge in the next 24 hours. One thing I can't remove is the very top one (or at least I don't know how) and I will point out ads do support all of the hosting costs. Without them, Soxtalk wouldn't be Soxtalk.
  2. Not sure what changed but we are looking into it.
  3. I do think Ace's point does remain...a lot of QB's (even ones who are considered top 10ish in this league) play can fluctuate relatively dramatically week to week. Only the truly great ones deliver almost every single game. Young players play will fluctuate even greater (because in general their tends to be more variability / inconsistency, imo), that said, it happens with veteran QB's too. No different than a basketball player...sometimes they have great nights shooting the rock, sometimes not so good nights. Football and QB works the same way.
  4. This. I can get mad for Mitch throwing a pick, but the reality is, there isn't a QB in the league that doesn't throw at least some picks. Mitch has not been a turnover prone QB, to where I can really hammer him for it. I can tell you Skrines should have had a pick on Rivers on the 1st drive of the game and seperately, one the deep ball that Allen dropped, a better play by our DB and it is a possible INT too. If you get into the game of dropped picks vs. not, it gets messy (cause every QB benefits from some and has a few go there way). I think it sucks the Bears didn't pull this out, because if they win, I think there is a lot more positivity around the offensive game-plan. People would have slightly different glasses on. I don't change my glasses (win or lose). I saw a QB play significantly better. Everyone else may say..so what...it is still bad...but I go back to, while this season sucks and has been a bust (and probably will be), I still believe the Bears best foot forward is somehow in Mitch having a light switch flip and all of a sudden taking off. That won't be a one game thing...but it certainly is something that could happen during the last half of the season. The Vikings were 4 games into the season and Cousins was horrible...now double down on those games and Cousins is one of the best QB's in football? Note I am not saying that Mitch has been or is a good QB. By every single measure he has struggled, however, this past game, was his best game of the season and with improved play calling in the red zone, everyone would be ignoring that 4th quarter pick. And yes, the fumble sucked, but sometime bad things happen and it isn't as if Mitch has a "fumble" issue. Better a fumble than a pick, imo. But I think this week, more than any other, those who zero in on Mitch's game, will point out one Gabriel miss. I can watch any of the Bears opposing QB's and show that each teams QB regularly misses a throw or two a week. I also could point out quite a few 3rd down and other plays where Mitch went through his progressions, had nice footwork, and delivered strong throws (throws that many NFL QB's don't make). Not good enough..but if I'm Nagy, I'm liking how Mitch came out and responded after such a horrific Saints game...could he get better, absolutely, but you also need to protect him somewhat from the media, especially in Chicago. One week at a time and Nagy has to know that his best foot forward is creating momentum for 2020 and if by doing that, they figure things out to get back into the race in 2019, great, but at this point forward, everything I am doing is centered around developing my players, most notably my offense and gameplan. Win trust 1 week at a time and prevent a massive collapse.
  5. I don't expect most teams put up that sort of TD% in the red zone. Yes, it was the facts of the game, but if they put up half of those as TD's you are taking a step in the right direction. Again, I'm purely pointing at progress...not at all saying they are good or anything along those lines. Directionally speaking, I could see some positive steps forward from an offensive perspective (that said...they are literally the worst offense in the league so they only have one direction to go).
  6. I agree with you completely (and I do think because of that...how the Bears finish is important...cause this place could get super toxic or they could gain some momentum for next season and get back some swagger). If they ran a game plan like this past week, they would have already won a game or two more, imo. About time they ran the freaking football and actually put together an offensive game plan that aligned to the teams strength (its defense). I also think that would have put Mitch in a better place to improve...but that is just as much on Mitch than anyone else. They clearly mis-scouted how "advanced" they thought Mitch was based upon training camp/off-season practices.
  7. I don't think Josh Allen has shown he is better than Mitch. Not at all. Mitch is in the same boat as basically every QB drafted the past 2-3 years, not named Mahomes / Watson at this point. Think about that for a second before people talk in such absolutes about Mitch (and this is from one of the posters who refused to say he was special last year when a bunch of people talked more confidently about him...but I believe it is in the Bears best interests to get him right (this year). Backs to the wall...Bears played their best offensive game of the season (not counting that Redskins game cause it was the Skins)...unfortunately, they had 2 costly 4th quarter turnovers, 2 missed field goals, and 4 piss poor red zone performances.
  8. The difference is, for the first time all season, yesterday the offense really had the TOP game figured out and put together a ton of long drives. They didn't convert and I put a ton of that blame on Nagy because I thought the play calling in those situations was just utter garbage. I thought that would mean the pass rush would have been bigger and that would have forced some turnovers (and Rivers will give you a ton of opportunities to pick off balls that hang up in the air).
  9. They both get next year to fix it, imo.
  10. I could see the Bears having a strong bounce-back year next season. I don't think they are as bad as their record and to be frank, should have 2 more wins (Raiders & Chargers). Of course, they should have lost to the Broncos as well (or just as easily could). I would have liked to see more pass rush, but for another straight week, Bears pass rush was non-existent (3rd straight game).
  11. I will not ignore the fact that he also got them in to field position for game winning score. It sucks he actually made progress but in the end...wins matter and they didn’t do enough.
  12. He didn’t play a bad game. B/B-...which is a major step up. Would have been nice to see Nagy give the offense some chance to score in red zone in first half. That was some of the worst play calling I’ve ever seen in those possessions.
  13. I actually don’t think he’s a bad head coach but he is an awful play caller.
  14. Nagy is a bum. His play calling in the red zone was awful and than not centering it stupid. Mitch was better today...great no, but he made quite a few nice plays on 3rd down.
  15. White and Lavine played great on a night where Lauri had nothing offensively. Wendell was total crap on D for 2nd straight night and just lazy too many times (got boarded over all game and was not getting to the lose ball and had zero involvement on offense). Oh and Porter had nothing either. Nice to win when two of their best had nothing on offense. Oh and cobe!!!! Cobe!!!!!
  16. I’ll live. Hornets shot unconscious from three. Nine out of ten times that is a road win.
  17. That would imply the Bears actually have that 1st round pick this year.
  18. Not apologizing for anything. You can't just magically find a new QB. Doesn't work that way...so you better do what you can to try and fix this QB (right now). After the season, they can go down a different path, but right now, their past path forward is trying to correct their current guy, one who wasn't so bad last year. I have never argued Mitch is destined to be a top 3 QB, but I would have been hard pressed to find anyone at the end of last season projecting him to be this bad. What happened between now and than, I don't know, but Mitch absolutely is part of the problem right now...but he could also be part of the solution (as I still believe he has more upside than Daniels and never thought he had a lower floor than Daniels but right now...who knows). The dude is broke out there (I've said that on multiple occasions but you can go ahead and ignore it since you like to troll for one answer).
  19. I have blamed Mitch too. I think it falls equally on both and there are also other players. We'll see how they respond and if they can fix it. The good news is they are 3-3 and thus have time. They have a tough schedule and a difficult NFL north, however, the Bears next 3 opponents (Charges, Lions & Eagles) are in about the same place the Bears are in. In fact, the Chargers & Eagles have had even more disastrous starts than the Bears (and they had high aspirations as well). All of these teams are going to see if they can flip a switch and get things figured out...but right now...the Bears season (and Mitch Trubisky's career) is officially at a crossroads.
  20. Oh and don't get me started on 7 carries, one of which was an RPO and one of which was a run to Miller who fumbled. The RPO was flat garbage since everyone on the planet would know that the Bears aren't going to have Mitch on like the 2nd play of the game keep the ball and have his shoulder crushed. That would have been purely brilliant.
  21. But when everything is going bad...having a game where you lose 2 fumbles and have a punt blocked for a safety...it doesn't do much to give you a ton of confidence/create momentum.
  22. I still go back to the point, right now, the fastest way to fix it, is to fix that QB. He isn't too far gone where this has been a 3 year issue. This looks like a guy who has lost his confidence and swagger and needing to find ways to get it back so he can play fast. Usually an offense can go to things that it does well to get someone back on track, but I don't know what this offense does well. They literally have minimal ability to do simple plays, especially since they can't run the football and have heaping garbage at TE (two things which are a young QB's best asset).
  23. Very true. I also thought it was nice to see Shaheen, Miller, and Wims get in on the garbage action.
  24. Probably true...I just noticed him playing a little different. He looked to be playing a bit faster...that is all. But I always like to find a glimmer of hope in anything. The reality is, I see a crap offense with a QB who is extremely timid to make a decision.
  25. Like I said, I was watching a player who looks like he has been coached into a robot. Part of that is on Mitch but I think part of this is on how they are coaching him. I really think they have been putting too much on a young QB. The exact definition of what Nagy was doing was putting him in a position where he had to take forever to process vs. play fast. It is the counter of what some of the up and coming offenses have been doing with their young QB's. The whole reason we've seen more young QB's excel is OC's are simplifying playbook and doing things to help them play "fast". From Mcvay to Reid to Harbaugh to O'Brien. Nagy eventually got it right last year (after an awful first few weeks). I'm not sure whether he'll get it right this year. The big challenge with young QB's is when teams start to get more advanced and more and more game film is out there on them and their offenses, how well can you do when you have to start reading faster and doing more complex things. It isn't as if Watson has been stellar all season. He's had some pretty bad games and has been very turnover prone...but he's also had some absolutely electric games. Mitch looks like a broken QB who has zero momentum and/or confidence.
