2018-2019 Official NBA thread

I’m I actually think Bulls turned a corner with Porter trade. He is overpaid but he’s a good player who is still young and can help this team get better over the next few years. Much better fit as an all around player than Parker. He is a legitamately good all around wing and I presume his three ball will come back since he’s been good from there most of his career. The bulls drastically need an upgrade at point guard and hopefully the right lottery ball. No matter what they aren’t catching the Hawks but I don’t know if they catch the bottom three teams either. Hopefully the ping pong balls go there way and they can get an all pro and then desperately sign a point guard to help push and develop the players. Lauri has re emerged lately which is great. Needed that. I still feel like Lauri, Lavine and Wendell will be good NBA players. Not sure if any will be great. Bulls can hopefully start turning a corner next year so they can begin targeting free agency a year and two years from now (timing might not be awful as Bron will be older and Warriors will likely be Durant less). They need to get to good with young players and then see how they can be opportunistic. I think the front office was realistic at the deadline vs worrying too much about cap space for next year (unfortunately the team didn’t step forward fast enough to be able to attract anyone). -

Its pathetic had bad the Bulls point guards have been. Sucks cause at one point last year (prior to Dunn having that awful injury from his layup), he was really trending upwards. He just isn't a good passer and when you combine that with his inability to shoot outside, its hard to be a good team unless we had a number of just natural scorers (which the Bulls don't). They desperately need a PG. As crazy as it sounds, I'd love to be a 3rd team in a Lakers trade involving Lonzo and take my chances on him. Dude is a natural passer and plays with speed and should be a good defender. Shot is obviously an issue but I think he'd ultimately be good for the teams development, etc (albeit he needs to stay healthy and we would have to hope his dad would remain quiet..which he has done this past year). Is there anyone with a worse PG situation than the Bulls? -

Dunn is a bad pg. I said it a couple weeks ago but this team s in severe need of a point guard. -

Davis was literally one of the top plays and the Bulls have fucked things up so much they can’t even contend for him. Pathetic. -
If you haven't watched the Kingdom (BBC show you can stream on netflix), you should. My wife and I binged it over the course of a month and is just fantastic.

Wow. Years ago I’d have felt like it was nice to beat Illinois but man now you just expect it. -

No. He will not be anywhere near the team. Most likely he will be cut around the trade deadline. -

Bulls are keeping Carmelo up until trade deadline. Could be leveraged in another move (albeit unlikely). No reason to gripe about this move. -
This is a nice move for the Reds. Would have liked this for the Sox.

It was an egregious blown call, but its going to happen in football. I don't support a drastic shift in massively increasing the roles and/or shifting the rules. It happens and it was unfortunate but move on.

Literally an epic dumpster fire which is only getting worse. Awful. Even I can’t watch more then ten minutes of the games. They are so freaking bad and completely not worth watching. This is coming from someone who actually had no issue watching last season (up until the final month or so). -

The Bulls drastically need a legitimate point guard. I'd love to take a swing at Lonzo Ball. The offense is a disaster. I don't think the offense design is necessarily to blame for Lauri. He just looks slower but I was at yesterday's game and it was just so awkward. The Lakers literally have the same problem as well, but man they literally have not figured out how to use the parts (and some of this is understandable because these guys didn't really have a training camp to work with each other...than systems literally got switched mid-season). But it is very clear to me the Bulls have zero point guard. I like Dunn and he can be an off-ball guy but he isn't a good enough passer. Lavine, same thing. Both of them off the ball can be dynamic (Dunn - defensively) and then can run units as you are moving guys to the bench, but I actually put PG as the most critical Bulls need at this point. -
Wait, the Bulls sold low on Butler? Then what did Thibbs do?

All they did was bump his pay a bit since he is now the head coach. Just like what would happen to any of us if we got promoted into a new job. I still think he's gone at the end of the year unless he turns it around. Pax has to make the comments he does because you need to ensure players don't run the show and they probably needed some of this toughness. And by by the way, the Bulls reported they would be doing this right when they fired Fred. This isn't even news. It isn't like they actually extended him today (and this whole thing was done previously.) -

I've never said Boylen is awesome (or even good)but I'll save my conclusions until the end of the year. Teams as young as the Bulls suck in the NBA with extremely rare exception (throughout the history of the NBA). -

I bet the bulls get back to playoffs before the Sox do. If the Bulls are a dumpster fire, the Sox are whatever is four times worse. -

A dumpster fire would be telling the interim coach you aren’t going to pay him any more...which is what the cheap Cavs tried to do after firing Tyron Lue. They tried to neuter the assistant coach. The bulls have tried to support their coach (at least this time and for now). -

Why are people surprised. Paxson said they intended to keep him around as a head coach...as such he needed to get a raise from his assistant coaches salary. This is what annoys me...people use this to refer to the bulls as being a dumpster fire. There are reasons to call them that...this is not one of them. And they aren’t the Browns. Lol. Let me know when the Browns has any of the success Pax had over his tenure as GM. -

Markanen stinks. He better improve because he has really taken a step back this year imo. -
Just don't let it be Greg Williams or Rex Ryan.
-
I figured this was exactly what would end up happening. And for those saying Bears are his best chance for another HC job, don't discount fact that Arians already retired once and whose to say he doesn't do this for a few years and then transition to Bowles.
-
No -I think if he goes with Bucs it is more because he decided that his original decision and bond with Arians led him to go with his initial choice (and not walk away on an initial handshake agreement). I don't blame him if he adjusts and switches to Bears (given relationship with Nagy plus talent of team, etc). Position wasn't there a day ago, but I certainly could see him have a heavy lean of not letting Arians down either.
-
Will be interesting to see where everything stands when the dust settles. I have to think Arians words on live TV would imply he feels very confident.
