QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) Two bad turnovers for Hinrich actually. The first one he got lucky because lebron stepped on the line True...I forgot about that one. Thankfully good Nate showed up about midway into the 4th. Bulls were like 2-19 at one point in the 4th.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 07:32 PM) Hinrich sucks. I realize he had the bad turnover but he did a really nice job running the offense and playing defense tonight. Very solid game (8 assists, good ball movement, solid defense). One really bad turnover late though (along with what turned out to be a bad foul).

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 07:15 PM) Boozer is possessed, Nate just nailed an awesome 3. Boozer played his best game with the Bulls tonight. Was flat out aggressive and awesome. Loved it. Great win for the Bulls. Nate stepped up in the 2nd half after an atrocious 1st half. Hinrich did a nice job (outside of the stupid turnover and then stupid clear path foul). Jimmy Butler with some great defense and some clutch plays (also a boneheaded miss). Joakim....what else is there to say!!! Huge game by the Bulls front court!!! How the hell do they lose to the Bobcats at home and then beat the Heat on the road?

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet BREAKING: Chip Kelly is close to a deal to become the #Browns coach, according to a source informed of his situation.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 03:06 PM) chip kelly to the browns Done? I thought he was just going to interview?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 12:13 PM) Given the fact that Jeff George is known universally as a career failure and the fact that those numbers aren't exactly super-duper far apart is terrifying. Huge difference in winning %.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 11:45 AM) The point is that he does have bad mechanics. He does try to throw too much to Marshall. And the new HC needs to drill this into Jay's skull.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 10:38 AM) That's just everyone coddling Cutler. I agree with Boomer and it is why I want the Bears to hire a guy that has the clout to basically tell Jay it is put up or shut up time. If Jay doesn't put up, then the coach has the clout to say he isn't the guy and we should move in a new direction. I wouldn't trust Tice making that decision so they damn well better hire a good offensive coach who I do trust to make that decision. That is why I'd have loved Holmgren. Dude flat out knows QB's.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 09:52 AM) No, it's when those interceptions literally win the game for you that it becomes a fluke. I mean seriously, when you watched that season when Mike Brown and the defense won 2-3 games in a row in the last 5-6 minutes, that's normal? That's not fluky? No one ever stepped back and thought "s***, this team is not nearly as good as their record, we got bailed out by those lucky plays?" Devin Hester returning kicks against Arizona - no one else though that was lucky the Bears came back and escaped with a win? At some point yeah, you chalk it up to good players making good plays in a good defensive scheme. But everyone that paid attention to those games knew the team wasn't as good as the record indicated. And the reason is that everyone knew those wins should not have been wins because of those lucky plays. Edit: and that final point is basically where we've been under Lovie Smith his entire tenure - you KNEW the team wasn't as good as the record because you KNEW how incredibly flawed the team was. Isn't that a pretty damn good compliment to the coach. You are saying he outproduced his talent.

Wasn't the Mike Brown year Dick Jauron? That said Brown had a couple great years but I didn't remember him going ridiculous for lovie.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 08:56 AM) How is a .560 winning percentage and playoff appearances 3 times in 9 years, going 3-3, "above average?" He was a good defensive coach and a f***ing horrendous offensive coach. That's indisputable. How can you just ignore half of his job? Really? A .560 winning percentage is well above average. This is a league of parody. The dude is well above .500 in a league where it is difficult to be much more then a couple games over .500 typically.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 08:23 AM) I don't know about Reid being a scapegoat. He had a very talented team that underperformed for 2 straight seasons. His skill position players should match up with anyone. He made a horrible choice for DC, and his offense neglected it's great run. Injuries crushed him this year. Lost most of his oline, his top wideout, QB and running back.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 08:14 AM) @JasonColeYahoo Chiefs fans will be happy to know that Scott Pioli is out. Long-time GB personnel man John Dorsey appears headed to KC to work for Andy Reid. I would be excited about this if I was KC fan. Me too. That is a great situation.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 08:12 AM) Cutler's won a lot more than George has. Other things of note: Cutler's more accurate, but tends to throw more picks. Take out GB and Cutler hasn't thrown a ton of picks. He has a couple games a year where he goes nutso on the picks. That isn't an excuse..Cutler clearly needs to step up his game.

Incredible....congrats Mike and thanks for all that you do around here!!!!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 06:08 AM) Did you get that through Netflix? I'd love to catch the last 1/2 of that but I have no idea where else to rent it and I'm not a Netflix member. I got it on sale for 14.99 in one of those after christmas sales. Probably the first DVD I've bought in 4 or 5 years. I couldn't resist when I saw it that price. Just finished it last night. It was good but really doesn't compare to Band of Brothers. 1st half was pretty good but I wasn't as much of a fan of a chunk of the 2nd half (didn't like some of the characters as much). You could check...Best Buy might still have it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 07:31 AM) Anyone hear anything linking the Bears to Chip Kelly? I'm going to be disappointed if we don't even interview him... Prepare to be dissapointed. Emery isn't even looking at (at least not yet) any of my top candidates (e.g., Holmgren & Reid).
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) So I had a really odd experience. 2 shows I havent watched were Band of Brothers and Homeland. Ive had some time off so I decided to watch them both. There is just something really odd watching Captain Frank Winters as Brody. BOB is amazing. I'm actually watching the Pacific for the first time right now. Pretty good. Nowhere near BOB (which is just epic).

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) I agree that they have no idea how to run a screen, but i completely disagree about Hester. He has been given so many opportunities to do something with his speed and quickness and he dances and goes backwards. Hester has been his worst enemy Completely agree. Either way it doesn't master. Hester will be cut.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 11:58 AM) The fact he is 60 years old and has not had a head coaching job other than at Temple leads me to believe there is something amiss there. Also emery interviewing all of these guys seems odd. The Atlanta or Dallas special teams coaches are interviewed yet Toab is not considered for the job? If you are the GM and you fire your coach your search should be rather small, as I would think he knows what he wants. He seems to be interviewing everyone. Supposedly everyone has looked at him as a career assistant because he doesn't have the personality for a head coach. What that means, I don't know. I don't know if it means he rubs people the wrong way or if he doesn't see the big picture or what. That was always the knock on him. However, no doubting the success he had this year as well as in Pitt (and previously). Hard part about Big Ben is he is so damn unique.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:58 AM) One thing you can say, Emery is casting a wide net. Every day you hear new names mentioned being called in for interviews. Exciting to say the least It could be bad though. If you go too wide and can't make up your mind, the top guys could come off the board. That said, I'd have to imagine he has his idea as to who his top candidates will be and their is no harm interviewing as long as you move swiftly. To me these are the guys I'd be dissapointed if Emery didn't have a conversation with them: 1. Holmgren 1b. Cowher (probably won't even interview but you better damn well call his agent and ask) 2. Reid (looks like they won't chat) 3. Gruden (not sure I'd hire him, but should at least reach out and have a conversation) 4. Mike McCoy (that is happening) 5. Bill O'Brien (really really good candidate; not sure you can get him but have to try to have the convo) 6. Shanny (like him a lot) Should probably also reach out to the top OC candidates out their as well (not mentioned above). E.g,. Clements, Carmichael.

I forgot, I really like O'Brien too.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) If people can't shut their damn phones and tabs off for 15 minutes prior to takeoff and landing, then they are certainly welcome to drive or take a boat to their destinations. Or ride a tricycle.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 08:38 AM) So apparently there is no risk that the ipads which pilots use in the cockpit can't malfunction. I'm going to assume...same risk.....which is incredibly low and they don't care? One other theory I always had was they just wanted cell phones off because someone fiddling with them would be distracted during takeoff and landing (but they leave the tvs on during landing). But I don't know anything other then the special showing the different waves but again it went on to say that while some devices can cause this, they still didn't throw off anything.
