  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) Molina's velocity is fine. It's all a matter of control/location and his offspeed stuff. He consistently is around 89-94 as a starter. Repeat delivery and consistency in attacking direction towards home plate, the two keys for a tall, left-handed reliever according to Cooper. Veal struggling with his control, hit a batter but wasn't awarded first and a walk as well. Molina isn't a tall lefty though. He's a righty. Veal is the lefty.
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) Steve J resigned with the Bills, I liked him also. Ya, I knew he resigned. I just am not a big fan of Jackson. I think he's a great deep threat but I have questions about his work ethic and his ability to ever be a dominant receiver (from a total reception perspective). Very fast and explosive down the field though.
  3. I really like Stevie J. Think he would have been a better pickup than Vjax.
  4. All of the above posts are stuff that are not necessary. They don't add any insight or commentary. I've seen enough of that crap in the basketball thread (and other threads). Lets cut it out and get back to basketball discussion.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) Im not sure Sean Payton will get fired, probably suspended. But the cost of keeping him is that the Saints are likely going to lose a significant amount of draft picks. Reading that article. I wonder what Payton is even doing/why would you ever accept money from some guy like that. I have a feeling their is far more to this story if it is true (gambling, etc). If this component is true and there is email proof, Payton should be fired and never allowed to coach in the NFL again.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) According to the Bulls, Rip Hamilton has a should contusion or mild shoulder strain. Basically, he's a p****. What is the point of that comment. The dude has played through injuries most of his career. They checked him out and I'm sure he'll be back in a week. Why the heck would the Bulls even ask him to come back in. They have one of the best records in the NBA and Rip is more important to the overall cause. I'm sure if it was the playoffs you'd have seen him back.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) Chiefs could make some noise. They already signed Routt and franchised Bowe. Charles/Berry/Moeaki/Siler all are coming back from missing basically all of last year. They have the #11 pick. The are being rumored as a possible destination for Peyton Manning. And they have $65M to spend. I agree with this analyses.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 05:23 PM) Awful, awful, awful. This is a disgusting, despicable tragedy. First they f*** up the draft/international system, now this? Selig's motto: when it ain't broke; fix it. I always said I'd put a bullet in my brain before I became a hockey fan. But I think the time is now. Who are the top players today? Mario Lemuix? Mark Messiah? Who else? You mean fix the draft/international system. The only thing left is to make the draft include international players and I fully expect that to happen in the next 5 years or so.
  9. I watched a movie once and it showed someone pissing in the sink and the whole crowd went ewww. I think i was 18 and for 18 years I had pissed in the shower. I had no idea that some people that it was a bad idea. For pete sakes, you are peeing in the only place in your house with a drain on the ground. As long as you don't pee on yourself, whats the biggie.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) Agreed that the fries are overrated, but that's a personal preference. Some people like the big, soggy fries, others (me) like the basically all crisp fries (shoe string are the best). But the burgers are still really, really good. Don't get me wrong, there food is good, but just not worth 10 bucks to me. And I really like their fries. I hate the skinny ones and their cajun fries & regular fries are good. I like natural fries.
  11. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 12:55 PM) I lived on Sonic in college, though they're becoming pretty damn national. Also, Chick-Fil-A. I didn't think a plain chicken sandwich could be that good. Their plain chicken sandwich is freaking money. Waffle fries are good. Easily my favorite fast food chain. I don't eat fast food but damn do I like me some Chick-Fil-A. Has a its not fast food taste.
  12. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) Portillo's, Jimmy John's, and Potbelly. Never knew how much I loved those three until I can't have them anymore. And may I just say, I don't want to see Five Guys anywhere near this list. It's a trashcake chain; you only like it because people WANT you to like it. Sit down and actually eat one of those burgers and you'll realize that it isn't nearly as delicious as people claim it is, especially for the price. It is a $10 dollar burger and fries. Total ripoff. If I wanted that, I'd go to a good sit down burger place. I have no idea who hyped Five Guys up but they were nuts.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) Lin against good teams with actual point guards is funny. I don't think it's coincidental he went off against the Mavs and Lakers. Derek Fisher and Jason Kidd are far too old to keep up with him. But when you stick Rondo on him, different story. The first game he went off was against deron. Of course Deron went off on him the 2nd time.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 11:12 AM) If the Bears spend a lot of money on a guard, it's probably because they decided to move Williams back to tackle. Possible, but dunno if Tice is up for that kind of shift. The Bears have solid guards and guard isn't a difference maker position, imo. You just don't spend 60M on guard play, imo.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) Actually, I think it's harder to upgrade WR in the draft than OL is, because WR has this nasty habit of taking several seasons to develop. OLine, a guy from the 2nd round can step in and make a difference based on talent alone. In the WR's area, you occasionally get a Randy Moss who can do that, but even guys like Calvin Johnson take a couple years before they truly start ripping the league apart. The fact that there's this big, longn development process at that position in particular makes me think it's easier to upgrade OL in the draft than WR. The hard part is, good left tackles typcially are 1st round picks. With wideouts, they tend to come from multiple rounds. I agree rookie wideouts can have trouble making an impact but I still think in this draft, you draft 2 wideouts early and than sign a guy like Wayne & Royal and you have problems solved. You may not have a true #1, but you at least have multiple guys that can play. Probably completely unrealistic but I think the Bears need a lot of help at the wideout position. I'd spend my free agent money on a guy like Carlson and a CB like Carr and would than look at a DE or LB plus a FA tackle.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 11:57 AM) Lin with 6 points, 6 turnovers, 2 assists. When do we find out what classes he took in 4th grade, ESPN? I know a lot of people will talk about the turnovers, but have you guys seen the Knicks statistics with him on the court vs. without him. It is a pretty ridiculous difference. He will always have high turnover numbers, part of that is D'Antoni's system, part of that he is an inexperienced rookie who at times plays a bit out of control. Plus, his handles are not near as good as some of the premiere PG's in the league. This has been a really entertaining game...wow Pierce just hit the 3 to tie it. I'm glad too, need something to entertain me while I work away from home.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) Cubs system, then with Pirates Sox drafted him as well. Were very high on him but he stayed in school. He was a pretty talented kid when drafted.
  18. Fullerton takes down Long Beach!!!! Fun game to be at and my Titans got the 2 seed in the big west tourney. I'd be stunned if they made it to the championships and won though. Long Beach is so much better.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 01:25 AM) This is unfortunate. While I must admit, no one gives a s*** about the Timberwolves, you have always been pretty objective about most topics and are even unbiased when it does come to the Wolves. Anyone who regularly reads the thread knows you're quite excited about Rubio, but are also aware of his inefficiencies and weaknesses. You might take a shot at the Bulls every once in a while, but you're generally quite civil and back your case. I, for one, hope you do not abandon this s***hole. + me. Felix. You are a good, smart poster, and I appreciate your discussion. You had a lot of great input to the thread.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) I don't think we'll see nearly as big an overhaul as people are hoping or expecting. That's not the Bears MO, and it never has been. If they sign 1 WR and draft another, that'd be a pretty big step (depending on who, of course). I'd be shocked to see them bring in 3 new WR. The only way that happens is if they don't think Knox will be able to play next year. Depending on what they do, I won't be surprised if the Bears take 2 wideouts in there first 4 picks. This is a deep wideout draft and the Bears have very limited talent at the position. Easily the worse corps in the league.
  21. And that is a problem. They have zero talent outside of an oft-injured Bennet at the wideout spot. I fully expect Roy to be resigned, giving them a #4. Knox doesn't even factor into the equation at this point (given I have zero confidence he can even play). Sanzy is physically limited and not very good (and even than he was one of the Beras better wideouts early in the year). I have excluded Hester which is probably a negative but it would assume he gets banged up as well and has his own injury issues (not significant ones), but definitely has had them when playing wideout. This corps is a joke and I've been saying it for years.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 07:11 PM) Bears right now have: Bennett (legit, can be a good #2) Knox (busted back, may not even play in 2012, but a #3 or #4 at best on a good WR corps) Hester (sucks) Sanzenbacher (perhaps has potential, but for now sucks) So they need to find a legit #1, someone who can get about 1200-1400 yards. Bennett should be good for about 900, maybe 1000 in a full season. The other guy they sign (whose spot Ward would be taking) needs to be able to get at least about 600 with the remaining yards scattered between whoever else... I don't see Ward capable of that at this stage in his career. They need better than a 4th WR, they already have guys like that This. I think the Bears need to bring in 3 wideouts. At least one needs to be a good veteran (Hines would not be that). Another needs to be via draft pick. The next could be a draft pick or another veteran, depending on what they do.
  23. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) I don't know what anyone who wants Ward on the Bears would be trying to accomplish. You're getting a 36-year old WR (he's 35 but his birthday is coming up) who's sharply declined the past 2 years and has about nothing left in the tank, and can't run anymore. If you're signing free agents, how would they need to be "mentored" or "shown the ropes"? If you want him to coach, give him a navy blue hoodie and a clipboard. Otherwise we need the roster spot, and contrary to what appears to be popular belief, we don't have roster spots to just blow like that. You are getting a guy with hands of glue who is supposedly a tremendous mentor and would be a great coach for our younger receivers. To be frank, I'd see very little negative in having a guy like Ward, assuming you aren't planning on using him in anything more than a 4th wideout role.

    2012 TV Thread

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 08:48 AM) Agreed. Hope they get better now that the 2 girl team is gone. I'm really digging Emily's "Sarah Connor" type vibe this season. I'd love to see a final girls challenge in the future of Evelyn, Laurel, and Emily.
  25. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 09:48 AM) Yes they are. I hope they don't stumble in their conference tourny cause as I sadi earlier in this thread they're a very unique case and I have no clue what the committee would do with them. CSU also won last night so more bad news for other bubble teams. They better be in regardless. I'm hoping my Titans make a run in the Big West tourney and knock em off. They have a pretty solid team too. Nowhere near LBState good but good enough to play some postseason ball. They currently in 2nd place in the conference (11-4; 20-8) but have finished the season really strong. Fullerton plays Long Beach on Saturday and I think I'm going to go.
