2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) Be honest though...which team has a better chance against the Heat, the Bulls with CJ at the point or a "healthy" Celtics tema if they get there? I'd rather have the Celtics get the Heat, so that someone has a shot at beating them. Honestly...I don't think either team has that great of a shot, but I'd say Indiana or Chicago are both better then Boston. I could be wrong but I don't think that highly of Boston.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 03:40 PM) Nah this team has too much heart. Best case scenario they'll make it back to the ECF to get beat by the Heat again. They can still make it to the Eastern Conference finals. The only saving grace is that Hamilton is a really good player and gives them some sort of chance. Bulls were solid without Rose (not great) but add in Hamilton and they would probably have been a top 4 seed. They just don't have any chance at the championships now. All we can hope is the team plays there butt off and responds proudly and that Rose can work himself back and get healthy.

2012 NFL Draft Thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 12:24 AM) I like what I see; he looks REALLY fast. He's well spoken too, and Emery had nothing but great things to say about him. In an ideal world, Hardin and Wright is a nice safety tandem. Conte did ok last year, but I'm not sold on him as a starter, and I've never liked Craig Steltz. And more important than anything: no Harris and no Meriweather. And words can't describe how much I love the Alshon Jeffrey pick. Emery believed he was the 2nd or 3rd best WR in this year's class. Both Jeffery and Marshall are 6'4. Slav, not sure what games you were watching, but Conte was the superior safety for the Bears last year. That isn't saying he's that great (he still has developing to do) but compared to Wright he was much better. Wright has struggled to stay on the field so that could be what effected his play for most of last year but he was pretty disappointing. Conte is a guy I lot of people were down on when he was drafted and I know he opened up a lot of people's eyes last year. Hopefully we see something nice with this guy.

2012 NFL Draft Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) I went into this draft saying that I think the bears oline isnt as bad as people think and I stand by that. Having one pro bowl back, another average back, plus a stud wideout, a upside pick in the 2nd round, Bennett, Hester, etc. I think they will be just fine, but this is coming from a guy who doesn't think the line is near as bad as people say it is. And a year to a year and a half ago, I was talking about it being the worse line in the NFL. I just really think people missed the strides they made last year when healthy. Its not the best line in football, but with weapons and the strides they made, I expect it to be at worse, a middle of the pack oline.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 07:27 PM) From the looks of it, they definitely wanted Shea and Jeffery with their first two picks. Haven't heard much about Hardin yet, but it sure seems like Emery believe there's enough OL depth for now. Or that this was a weak oline draft at the positons the Bears needed on the line so they went with other areas. I know nothing about this safety and I wouldn't have listed safety as a need but the Bears have added depth in FA to the line, depth at the CB position, and are getting a safety that I assume they think would have been a much higher pick had he not missed the past season. I'm not saying I'd have done it but that is Emery's thought and right now, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully he hits on these moves. I also fully expect them to bring in a dlineman that gets cut.

He can play the position. Lets hope he isn't Mike Williams. On tape he's a player. Put him with Marshall, Hester, and Bennett, and we have a good wide receiving corps.

I think this is the pick they traded to Miami. I keep wondering why I see CHicago in this spot. Unless we all got it wrong and the Bears had kept the Miami pick. Hill and Martin were two guys I would have really liked but they are gone. I'd even think long and hard about Konz out of Wisconsin, just cause I think he'll be a probowl center.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 07:34 PM) The first round of the nfl no matter where isn't a crapshoot, if you don't draft a solid contributor to your team it's a 100% fail. All reports actually have the Pats/Packers being extremely interested in Shea. He would not have gotten past either of those teams.

He's not a first rounder and I'm not taking a dude that high whose 28. That is 5 less years then I get out of a typical QB picked. On a sidenote...DirectTV is going to get my money. $199 for sunday ticket...yes please!

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) I think insurance for our very injury prone OL, with definite future potential as a good starter, far outweighs the Bears desire to have a strong 3 DE rotation. The Bears didn't have 2 good ends last year. They definitely need an end opposite peppers. I'd have preferred Whitney but what do I know. Marinelli is a very good coach on the line and hoepfully he knows talent.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 07:06 PM) So when Chris Williams' back explodes or some other injury befalls him it doesnt turn into another circus on the offensive line. The line is better than people think. Plus guard is not a major need. Bears need an LT.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 07:04 PM) Well, the Bears Facebook page scooped you by 3-4 minutes, according to the timestamp. Damn...you are on to me and how I figured it out, hahahaha. I was making a post on who I thought the Bears were going to pick and then saw the Bears post saying who they picked.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 07:02 PM) Is this a guy they could have moved down 5 slots and still gotten? They probably could have cut a deal with the Pats. Albeit, a lot of rumblings that the Packers and a few other late 1st round teams had him targeted. I think the Bears needed an end and if this is who they had graded out the best, then so be it. However, it would have been nice to slide down a few more picks, especially since I assume some other guys were still on the Board the Bears liked too.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 08:03 PM) A lot of it has to do with Ferentz being the guy that mainly handles their O Line. They've had numerous dlinemen and lbers taken in the draft as well. Iowa has been a very very good program, especially when you factor in the lack of high ceiling prospects they are able to recruit.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) Last 10 years in the Big Ten, teams producing the most NFL draft picks. I was REALLY surprised at #2 1. Ohio State: 66 total draft picks 2. Iowa: 42 3. Nebraska: 41 4. Michigan: 40 5. Wisconsin: 39 6. Penn State: 38 7. Purdue: 27 8. Michigan State: 25 9. Illinois: 22 10. Minnesota: 14 11. Northwestern: 13 12. Indiana: 12 The NFL really likes Iowa's guys. Lots of quality players have came out of there. Not a ton of stars, but good solid NFL players.
