  1. We might as well close the discussions. Hillarity is now your nominee.
  2. Ah, the b**** is back... :PUKE. Already the "16 years ago when Bill Clinton got a surprise second here in NH" s*** has started. She just won the nomination, folks. It's over.
  3. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 12:54 AM) Early returns show 37 Clinton, 36 Obama. McCain winning by 10+ over Romney. Stick a fork in em and get out yr oven mitt. Romney's done. So Clinton kicked Obama's ass because she cried.
  4. The Re-pube-licans need to stay out of it.
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 04:28 PM) Go sit on the can and read through this. I'll read it later for sure. I will say that Obama at least has me interested in learning more about him, and that's more then I can say for any other candidate.
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) If you want to talk about copycats read this article by Chuck Todd. He talks about Obama's message when he first announced he was running last February. He basically says his speech that day sounds almost the same as something he would say today. He was using change as a message 11 months ago and now all the candidates on both sides of the aisle are suddenly about change. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22541240/ To be honest, that's all Obama has EVER said. He's loose on what's going to change and how it's going to change, but it's about change. And the truth of the matter is, people are so sick of the slimeball factor in politics that his "change" message resonates well, even though he probably has no idea what he's really going to do yet.
  7. And Edward's plan is a recycled version of a bunch of other plans that have been floated before. Sorry to burst your bubble, but this guy is not doing anything that hasn't been thought of before. It's not like he has all these "revolutionary" ideas.
  8. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 01:06 AM) news from the NH front - look for some interesting results tomorrow night... that's all i'm gonna say. You said the same thing about Iowa as well.
  9. Gosh I hope not. I think Obama can do a LOT better then Edwards, if that time comes.
  10. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) If 95% of ST doesn't get it why are 77% in favor of the trade ? QUOTE(max power @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) They are not measuring the same thing. One is a statement about a single trade. One is a statement about the make up of the entire team including its farm system. They are related but not the same. Exactly. Most people on here can't see what's being attempted. They are attempting to stay afloat in Chicago while they tear down and rebuild the minor league system. This may not win "championships" but it could keep them in the race until the minors can be built back up. I think starting this year we will have a much different approach at the draft.
  11. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) Why not everyone all on the same day? Because it's not the general election, it's a PARTY primary and there are national, state, and local implications.
  12. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 08:24 PM) That's so dumb. Larger states should go first - having primaries in small insignificant states like Iowa and New Hampshire first is just ludicrous. I really like NSS's idea of a rotation of primary openers. (The post is here somewhere).
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) Not to underestimate the Clinton machine, but I believe Obama will be the nominee. In fact, I kind of have my suspicions that Bill doesn't want her to win. Nothing solid to base that on yet, so don't hold me to it. Let's call this a developing situation that I'm still watching. That's an interesting thought. We all know he likes the spotlight and her being president doesn't exactly fit for him being second fiddle. Of course, neither does her being a Senator from New York. There's a long way to go, but I do agree that Obama seems to have tapped into the "I'm sick of this s***" BFD and Clinton spin machines.
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) Let the media keep portraying her as a tough old b****. That's the very reason people hate her anyway. Yes and no. They are making it look like she's "fighting for America" now. :PUKE
  15. The media headlines are cracking me up. "No More Mrs. Nice" and "Clinton Hits Back" and all this "tough" s***. I hate the media.
  16. QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 03:25 AM) Also, I am watching the Dem debate and earlier Hillary asserted that she opposed the '05 energy bill, while Obama supported it. Do NOT believe it: http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll...&vote=00158 Why doesn't one of the candidates call a lie a lie? Will this be brought up after the debate? Probably not, but it took me a whole ten seconds to debunk. edit: found the direct quote in the transcript http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/05/us/polit...?pagewanted=all This is one ad I would want Obama to run to set the record straight. What a pathetic b**** this lady is.
  17. Kind of miss seeing you around these parts, sir. Hope it was a good one.
  18. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 09:32 PM) I was watching Fox News this morning... why... I have NO idea. BUT, they were all out assaulting Obama, Edwards, and Huckabee. It couldnt have be more obvious they dont want any of them in the White House. Ok and who DO they want? My personal opinion is Obama is "ok..." but not really. Edwards, I'd loathe the man. Hillary, I hate her. Guiliani is an assbag, Huckabee is what goes into the assbag, a steaming pile of s***, and Romney's not far behind the pile of s***. I guess it's between Obama and McCain... and I don't think McCain's not a favorite of mine either.
  19. I just cannot stand Bill O'Reilly. By the way, there's a lot of grumbing about Obama not being "left" enough and that Republicans are the ones pushing him over the top. If true, that's not necessarily a bad thing, IMO. I just wish that he "got" Iraq, but I do have a sneaky feeling if he gets nominated his tune is going to change on that issue somewhat.
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 04:08 AM) Interesting NY Times blog of tonight's NH Democratic Party dinner. IF (and that's a big IF) Obama wins NH and then goes to SC and wins there, it's over.
  21. Swisher >>>>> Rowand. That is all.
  22. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) I've seen Rock and wite hint at it now, and the more I consider it, the more it makes sense... Even though the farm system has been drained yet again, its important to note that the team has actually been stockpiling good, young, cheap talent - but at the major league level. Quentin, Ramirez, Swisher, Richar, Floyd, Danks... add in home grown talent like Fields, Owens, some of the bullpen pieces like Logan, Wassermann... and the 2008 team is suddenly showing a lot of young talent. So even though they aren't farmhands, they are still going to likely help this ballclub for the next few years much the same way a strong talent at AAA or AA would, except sooner. And even O-Cab, who is older, is there to potentially protect a position (SS) that the farm system lacks any near-ready talent in. And that provides a nice side effect too. Think about this for a second. KW has basically turned his player development and scouting staff upside down in the past year - he is starting over. If those things result in positive change, it will take a few years, as they draft and develop better talent. So what does that system need to do that? Time. And these younger players who now will be a large chunk of the 25-man roster gives the team exactly that. Time to get the system up and running in its new model. That's an EXCELLENT post. And the sad thing is 95% of Soxtalk doesn't get that, unfortunately.
  23. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 02:10 AM) Lol, if the GOP nominates this Huckabee guy, I'm voting Democrat out of spite and hoping for a massive landslide. Edit: Unless it's against John Edwards. Than thats just the worst election choices ever. Maybe not even waste my time voting. I agree. Edwards or Hillarity will make me vomit. If Huckabee gets it, but Obama wins, I would vote Obama, probably. And that's scary.
  24. Nice. Nice job to Obama. And I really hope Edwards gets the second slot, even though I detest the man. That tells you that I hate Hillarity more.
