  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) I cannot say how much I hope Obama wins Iowa. An open letter... Dear Mr. Richardson- I think you are a great candidate, but you and I know you can't win. Please drop out, endorse Obama, and become his VP candidate. You'd be perfect, and your support would hand Barack the nomination. Sincerely, NorthSideSox72 He's going to endorse Clinton.
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 08:28 PM) That is a poorly written article - and I don't think I've ever had to say that about the WSJ. A few errors and misrepresentations... 1. There is one Dem who has consistently said he wants a balanced budget amendment and will not raise taxes - Bill Richardson. 2. People in the very high income ranges get a lot of income from investments - interest, cap gains... that the lower income groups do not. And as the article even states... the AGI numbers will of course have gone up big time from 1990-2000, but not from 2000-2005. The article then adds a tepid line about "hard work", which is all well and fine but has zero to do with the analysis of the data. Wow. I like the WSJ a lot, despite that they do clearly lean to the right. But this article is pretty bad - it spends all its time talking about tax portions for salary grades but then glosses over the "oh yeah, there is a reason for that" part. There are many one time vehicles to get you to the highest bracket. And also keep in mind that investments (DOLLAR WISE, not %) are pretty high right now. The gains tax revenue, even with the cut in rates, is still quite high due to cap gains, etc.
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 15, 2007 -> 05:28 AM) Its pretty much a commodity at this point. Depending on your intake, you can look at 500Gig for near 100 dollars. The unit I picked up a little bit ago was a 500Gig Buffalo Linkstation. You can try online searches or Fry's. 500 Gig USB Hard Drives Things to look for, SATA over PATA. 16mb cache. Hey southside, where can you get SCSI drives cheap?
  4. It sounds like April if I read it right on his latest entry?
  5. WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! /back to your regularly scheduled doomsday thread.
  6. I hear your point, BB. I can tell you that this ad hasn't been up too long at all (I think maybe since about Dec 7 or so)... I doubt that we made much at all off of that, if any... but point taken nonetheless.
  7. We took it down. I do appreciate people letting us know. It never was a problem on my machine, but apparently if you have your activeX controls set a little different, you could have ran into problems. We apologize to everyone who had an issue and would like to encourage anyone to let us know in the future if there's problems like this again.
  8. Vandy, that's a good post. I agree with your sentiment, but I just don't see how RP is going to overcome the political juggernaut that is the GOP.
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Dec 18, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) I am obviously on the Obama bandwagon now but my gosh, you'd think Karl Rove is part of the Clinton campaign. They disgust me. Nice observation. And that's why I really hope she goes down this time. If she does, she's done.
  10. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Dec 17, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) Hillary. Perhaps after she ate Madeline Albright. Damn. Ick. Blech. *vomits* When was this taken? Is it real? That's damn scary.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) Too bad it doesn't mean a thing. Egggggggggsactly.
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 17, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) Its going to be a long offseason if you think you can take Kenny at his every word. It already is.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 15, 2007 -> 05:05 AM) There is no new direction in American politics. Obama is just like all the rest of them. One of the elitist, royal bloodline that has dominated American politics for over 200 years. No, he is a little different then what we have dealt with over at least the last 30 years. He's making his platform to get away from all the "same 'ol same 'ol"... but when he gets there, he will fall into the same trap, and that is what makes it no different.
  14. I saw this in yesterday's WSJ and forgot to mention it. Funny how this hasn't generally hit the mainstream media.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) It might be a waste of time, but I think something like that is worth noting, because it doesn't seem to be commonly known in the US. No, that's true, and it certainly promotes a lot of hate.
  16. Probably because the rest of us are lazy asses.
  17. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/071214/economy.html Gee, I'm shocked.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 02:07 AM) I'm not exactly certain, but I think this line is going to be wonderful for Obama. It was well delivered, perfectly timed, and seems to have gone over really well. I think it's an excellent little joke to have made right before the Christmas season where people stop paying attention. Especially for people who didn't watch the full debate, if they only get the 30 second highlight clip, that's guaranteed to be in it. Agreed, Balta. What will be interesting is if the nuclear bomb comes out of the closet in the next 3-5 days. If something's going to happen, it will be today, I would think, so the Sunday talk shows could start carpet bombing for Clinton.
  19. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) I don't get this thread. To me Frank never had any links to steroids, and the Mi$tchell Report isn't the end-all of the steroids in the history of baseball. My level of respect for Frank, Thome or Konerko hasn't changed today, but I say that not as an insult. This thread is because Frank actually COOPERATED and by virtue of that, proved that all these other chumps are fakes. It makes his baseball standing even higher above all these other guys.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) Muslims hold a place of revernce for Jesus Christ as one of the greatest prophets, but not as the son of God obviously. It is supposed to be part of their teachings to have respect for people "of the book", meaning both Christians and Jews. You're wasting your time. The quoted poster was trying to start crap.
  21. So soxtalk.com should get a letter of apology from Sports Illustrated, if Clemens is on the list.
  22. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) They probably won't work in the Dem primaries. But, I think the guy is right that this argument WILL play with a certain crowd in the full elections, should Obama win the nomination. Sad though it is. And I think he's trying to leverage it from that viewpoint - that Obama isn't electable in the national election. Nevermind that its Clinton and her super-high negatives that needs to be worrying about the national. No one cares about that s*** anymore. It's a non-issue, even in the general election.
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 06:29 PM) That is one of the most contradictory sentences I have read on here. And that is saying something. And do we need another f***ing thread for this discussion? Really? The answer is no. Go post here... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=62150 about how bad Kenny sucks.
