QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 06:04 PM) I didn't have to imagine very hard. The insults were obvious. The ignorance was even better. The lack of critical reading was the crux of the issue. What I think of people really isn't the issue. It's always been my e-philosophy to make a point to wish people a happy birthday even though I think they're crazy idiots. Just because we don't agree on things doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to go out and get Yuengling and wings afterwards. I think there's an issue of reverse bigotry (that is, there's an unspoken set of opinions you should have) that is silently accepted by the admins of soxtalk... The mostly ignore me, which is fine, but it won't make me stop. I don't think I'm a pariah or a martyr. Just clearly more aware of this issue than others. again: Church Theologians = Scientists = Finite Knowledge + Infinite Pride Wow, PA, that's rich, even coming from you. There's so many ironies and oxymorons in these three sentances that I just don't know where to begin. We don't "ignore" you, we give you opportunities to express your opinions. You have reversed yourself in two sentances. To paraphrase: "I'm not a martyr", yet, everyone's picking on you? You know I support your freedom to express what you want, but this for me is a little over the top. I'm not chasing you away, I'm just simply saying you should think about what you're posting and how it's coming across.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) Absolutely. I feel completely sold out by a spineless Congress. Caving on FISA was the last straw. Oh, it's ok. Obama is the Second Coming.

There's no way that Pods goes anywhere now... KW will want too much.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) The fact that the Dems caved completely on the Iraq war funding and gave Bush what he wanted. Congress's approval was quite a bit higher before that. Anyone who supports Bush's war in this government is seeing their ratings go through the floor. Because a MANDATE was sent in November of 2006 to STOP THIS WAR... Oh, the irony...

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) I found this to be quite a funny user comment from the Trib: (insert I want Dick Cheney to go hunting too, joke here).

I guess where I'm disagreeing is that "OZZIE SAID"... I'm not sure this was an OZZIE policy, but that's nitpicking.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 03:24 PM) I highly doubt you actually read his plan on all the key issues on his website like you claim you did. He actually has original ideas in there even though, according to you, he has no stance on anything at all. I read it. I didn't study it. I have read most of the candidates' websites in a general overview. Granted this was 6 months ago and some things have come out since then... Having said that, I'm sorry I don't agree with your "he's going to save the universe" candidate. The man is not presidential material, at least not yet.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) Source: www.barackobama.com And this is just for one issue, health care: So? What does it say? Seriously, I could have wrote the same s***, if my inclanation was to set up a governmental entity for health care. It's NOT anything new, innovative, different, or anything that should set him apart as a leader of our country. Everyone blah blah blah blah blah... whatever. It's not anything that differentiates him from any other candidate.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) Please explain this terrible analysis. whitesoxfan101. That's all.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) I wonder what the longest previous streak was for a relief pitcher. Someone posted it somewhere around here, IIRC.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) A couple of years ago they were complaining and this board supported them because they were winning. IIRC Ozzie said the starting battery didn't have to sign that day. Its total BS on the player's part. If signing a few autographs for kids is really that bothersome, maybe they should get a regular job with a regular paycheck. I don't think that's true... but maybe I don't remember right.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) Not sure why all the hatred for him. Perhaps you should try listening to him to see what he is offering up. And I don't mean reading about him on foxnews.com. For the record, I NEVER watch Fox. Second, seriously, he doesn't have any substance at all. I've read his website. He doesn't stand for anything, and that's by design, which makes it stink even more.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:52 PM) Great post. This streak is just incredible, and its too bad that Bobby isn't getting slobbered over because of it. Congrats big man! He's not a Sawk or a Yankmee. That's all.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:52 PM) Looking at the top 4 - Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Richardson - I think you are only 50% right. Clinton and Edwards are pretty worthless, they are definitely retreads, and they are manifestly dishonest. But, like him or not, Obama does in fact bring a new approach and attitude to the table, and he is indeed a new face. And Richardson has, more so than any candidate in either party, a Presidential resume. So I personally think there is some value in those candidates' presence. I'll say it again. With who is currently in the race on both sides, if Richardson were to somehow get through, he'd have my vote, assuming some bombshell revelation didn't come out, or he didn't say he would raise taxes until we're giving everything back to the government. Obama... this man just likes to hear himself talk, and he has ZERO substance to him. New attitude? Fine. But he's not a president.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:48 PM) Oh, Kid's Day wasn't Sunday? Well, I still bet that most players hate Kid's Day and complain about it. And most of them are smart enough to keep their yap shut.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:46 PM) imho the wrong dole was nominated . . . That's actually a good point. She is very, very quiet in her current role.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) He just likes the GOP bad news... Thanks, Mr. Obvious, you're a life saver.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) I imagine that almost all of them complain about that after a night game and having to get out on the field earlier. I doubt it was some, "f***ing kids!!1111111111111" type of diatribe.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:42 PM) too much neg on her side both both Dems and of course GOP. The first female pres will be a Rep. Not in my lifetime. And that means not in yours, either, old man.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:37 PM) Rove, like all of Bush's cronies, is a pretty lousy individual and supreme liar and nobody can take that away from the administration, as they are worse than even the usual politicians in that regard. HOWEVER, the man got a complete idiot into the highest office in the land not once, but TWICE, so to say Karl Rove is anything short of brilliant in that regard would be inaccurate. Karl Rove = Ozzie Guillen.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:38 PM) Unfortunately, I think Edwards still has a shot. And while Obama said something he shouldn't have about Pakistan (though I actually agreed with him, it should not have been stated publically), I'd say he still stands a chance as well. Some polls in Iowa and NH show him very close to Clinton. Oh, I forgot about the self-proclaimed "trend setter". I hate Edwards more then I do Clinton... and that should tell you something. This is more or less what I meant a few days ago that we disagreed on... all these people bring NOTHING idealogically to the table that is any different then what we have now (in a material sense), and it makes me really sad, because I think any of these people (without regard to party) will not lead us effectively in the future.

QUOTE(shoota @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:16 PM) Good catch on the quote I had saying the contradictory; I wasn't expecting anyone to read that far. To be most clear, I stated Contreras's "effective career" instead of simply, "career" was over. back back back back back back back back back... peddle. Toot toot.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:15 PM) I'm not so sure. And there is also still plenty of rumbling on the Dem side about even wanting Hillary to be the candidate. Her negatives are still very, very high, and they fear she will not only alienate moderates, but that she will bring out the conservative vote like no other. I am still not convinced she will be the nominee. Ok seriously, who has a LEGIT chance of beating her? I say no one as it stands right now. Obama = glory boy who is going to fade like a meteor in our atmosphere. Richardson = a Clinton dog who will get eaten alive the rest of these boobs have no shot...

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:24 PM) The mood around the team Sunday was status quo. A.J. Pierzynski complained about having to autograph for Kids Day at U.S. Cellular Field. Come-on AJ, you're better than that. Somehow, this doesn't surprise me... I'll just leave it at that.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) For those with a party preference, there are two candidates you want to see on the other ticket. A. Someone easy to beat. (Which is why the GOP has been hyping Hillary for years) B. Someone you could see yourself voting for. (which is why I care who the GOP nominates in case above works for them) Hillary won't be beat by any of the GOP doofus's running. None of them have any guts to take her out politically.
