And now it's the good 'ole US of A's fault the electricity isn't on.
-
No, it's not... except those who had an axe to grind in the CIA (Plame herself), but now we're getting into semantics, which is really at the heart of the case. It came out in all of that - Libby wasn't the one who leaked it after all, so what really happened again?

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 05:03 PM) There are three pardons that Clinton made that were in my mind pretty craptacular (that stand out in my mind) and all were made in the last two weeks of his presidency. 1. Rostenkowski on two counts of mail fraud (although it was after his sentence was served) 2. Marc Rich (never tried) 3. Roger Clinton (two counts of cocaine possession) Oh yeah, another reason why this commutation is as craptacular as all these? Libby didn't even petition for it and go through the system. In August, Governor George Bush let a mentally retarded man be executed. But he finds two and a half years in a minimum security pen excessive for an aide who leaked a covert operative's name and lied about it several times to investigative arms of the government while under oath. Oh really? Really? Is THAT what happened?

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) Really? Considering the injuries they both sustained in their contract year? No, not really, but those are the names that they are going to attempt to throw out.
-
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 04:28 PM) Still waiting for some names. You just can't make a disparaging claim and not back it up. How about Frank Thomas? Or Magglio Ordonez?

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) From what I have seen the press room is very small. 85K might be a bit on the high side. Smartass.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 03:42 PM) They tried to talk to him. An offer was never made. ^. Is anyone else having issues with the site being slow today..? For once, no.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) I hear ya. It's something I'm familiar with, seeing just how stupid and annoying nosey people can be, and it ended just fine so I'm on the pro side. I understand, and I know that sometimes it's a positive. It's a delicate line. -
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) MSNBC.com ticker: White House won't rule out eventual pardon for Libby. More soon. You KNOW the press corp had 85,000 people in the room SCREAMING that question to Tony Snow today. So again, the "beat" goes on...

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) The heart wants what the heart wants. He wasn't married, I assume his partners weren't also - or maybe that were the controversy comes in. People should be so nosey and concern themselves with what others do in their bedrooms. True, but it got out somehow. If it's MORALLY wrong (affairs, etc.) that's totally different then dating people (or whatever you want to say) at work - that SHOULDN'T matter. That's the risk, though. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't... and if it doesn't, there's usually some bad reprocussions. That's all I'm saying. Besides, I think mreye pretty much summed up the thread. -

Yea, that's just kind of sad. Steff, right or wrong, a corporate, public figure should be morally above some of that stuff. SHOULD BE being the choice words. Sometimes, standards are set higher, and I don't see anything wrong with a higher moral compass for people like this. -
It shouldn't be. Their job is to govern, not be pecker heads. Get over it.

Uh oh, Sqwert... your offensive tracker needle now has TWO 29ths...

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:12 PM) I'm sorry Kap, but how many of the (D) people around here did you know 6 and a half years ago when the last opportunity for (D) people to do such a thing happened? Oh that's right. None, but I'm sure that's somehow different too. Please save your fake anger for an issue where it's believable. You're angry at an argument that NOBODY is making. I'm reading it all over the place this morning in the MSM bits about it. Bulls***... read the quotes from Schmucky and Little Dick. I'm not saying YOU personally, but I'm saying the Democrat Party in general.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 01:55 PM) I don't believe a single comment I read yesterday by either KW or Buehrle. Eggggggggggggggggggggggstactly... now some people are starting to get it (not implying that you didn't fathom, just making the point).
-
Personally, I agree that this stinks. But the hypcritical part is the "OUTRAGE" being demonstrated by Schmucky Chucky and Little Dicky Durbin, et. al. It's crap all the way around. Yet, somehow, when the (D) people do the same things the outrage isn't quite as noticed.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 04:23 AM) Kenny, Rotoworld is on to you.... Hehe... good call.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 04:01 AM) I'll take that bet. If he gets pardoned, it wouldn't be til 2013 at the earliest - first of all. And that guy's fat so he'd probably be dead. And second of all, I'd be pissed off if Berger got a pardon. And lastly, it won't matter because Hillary won't win the nomination. What's different? He was convicted of perjury. He only quit when he got indicted. The same President who said heads would roll over this - took away all the teeth of the penalty that he fairly received from a trial. The only thing that's different here is that the rule of law was respected with Sandy Berger. He pled guilty, was convicted and sentenced. Nobody asked for commutation, nobody asked for a pardon. In Libby's case, it's different. He got off. Well, he was told to plead guilty, for one thing. And he didn't get jail time. Which is whe he plead guilty - he wouldn't be able to get a commuted sentance. Sure, it's different, it always is.
-
WHY IS IT ALWAYS DIFFERENT? This is what pisses me off about you people. I mean, if you people were consistent, that's one thing, but you're not. So explain to me why this is so different? /waits for left wing up the ass links to explain to me why Libby is such a cocksucker for being a "BushCo neo-con" who got off "scott free".
-
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:23 AM) No, the pardon won't come until just before Bush leaves office in 2009. P.S. Sandy Berger pled guilty, and faced his music. There was no President making it all better. That's "rich", even coming from you, Rex. The comparions here are more the same then you want to say. Maybe if TurdBergerlur would have just done something like this while Bill was still in office... he would have gotten pardoned. You want to place a bet right here and now if Her Highness gets elected, she pardons him?
-
Nice. I like it... [snip] Here's your Scott Podsednik AL Disabled List... And, here's your NL Mark Prior NL Disabled List... Brought to you by the Kerry Wood Arm Surgery Center. Do you play hard like the Darin Erstad's of the world? ... ... ... ... [/snip] Oh what fun.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) That was in no way a smart thing to do, but keep in mind that this was the early 80's, when people still let kids sit in the suicide seats in the back of station wagons, with no seat belts. I am against animal cruelty, our whole family volunteers at the Humane Society (well, not the 8 year old), but you are acting like he killed the dog. bring it down a few levels of indignation. Meh. I just don't like the guy. He's a turd.
-
It's not a pardon. The dude is still basically ruined.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 10:44 PM) You're not that far away ya know.... 1,000 miles gets a little too close sometimes. But I had to... the door was open so I had to shut it. The next couple of days could get interesting again. It seems like the overatures are getting nicer again. We'll see.
