BULLs***. How many f***ing times is Mark going to "tip his pitches"? I'm sick of the f***ed up excuses on MB when he s***s himself. Man the f*** up and say "I sucked today" instead of some "I was tipping my pitches" bulls***. This ain't high school anymore.

No way is Zambano going to give that back. Mail it in fellas. Assholes.

You know what I really wish? That we could really get to know these people outside of the political sphere. I bet we'd like them all better.

NYT discloses secret program to track terrorist finances.
kapkomet replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in The Filibuster
Access curtailed? It was LEAKED by someone inside the government who has a vendetta to hamper BushCo.'s war effort. As far as the Plame issue, it is CERTAINLY hypocritical. They threw their own in jail to get who the 'source' was because they thought it was going to bring down Karl Rove. They wanted it so bad, they could taste it. Sources be damned, get it all out there. This time? We have to protect the American people's right to know by protecting the information and where it came from. RIIIIIIIGHT. -

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This from June 30, 2006 Wall Street Journal. Bold my emphasis. The SECOND bolded part is the key, to me. THAT is what I was talking about two posts above. And the THIRD bolded part is exactly why the NYT is a bunch of hypocritical assbags. -
QUOTE(1549 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) Bandwagon fans are part of the game...I'll accept them. Anyone who gives $$$ to the team I feel passionate is ok in my eyes. Haven't seen you for a while. Good to see you!

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) And if for some reason Garland pitches lights out today everyone will bring up your post and call you crazy because everything is fine. Why do you insist on keeping on and on and on and on? I have seen about 15 of these posts from you in the last little while when reading from this morning's post. So everything isn't hunky dory (read: we're not going 173-0 this year) in Sox land. So, let's all just take a trip to Addision and Clark Streets and take a big s*** on the grass and keep on living life. Shall we? Because, after all, that will make us all feel better.

The biggest harm, imo, is that they disclosed who all is in on the program, and that's where they should have stopped. -

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) So now, I'm really confused. The New York Times goes to press regarding a story the government wants them to keep under wraps. After two months, the New York Times says - we're going to print this anyway because the public has a right to know. Then the government releases the same information to the Wall Street Journal and declassifies the information that was released in the first place. Why does it make a difference that the New York Times released information that was recently declassified, when its the same information the Wall Street Journal received after it was declassified? The stories seem similar - to the point that certain people in this board couldn't remember if they had read the WSJ or the NYT story. So again, if they gave the story to another paper, why is it a problem that the NYT also printed essentially the same story? Because it was going to print and they knew it. So at that point, they might as well declassify it. That was my entire point about the NYS having it FIRST. -
I want to know why it is everything that our government does is 'wrong' and there's always some evidence to back up why it's wrong. ALWAYS.

It just amazes me what gets defended, if it suits one's views, around here. It's f'in disgusting. And I mean this at no one in particular, because we all do it. Pathetic, mindless drones is all we've become.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) Well, I'm not the slightest bit anti-religion. The opposite, in fact - I expect the protection of all people to practice the religion of their choice. And for that to happen, we cannot force one set of religious faith (i.e. God) on the citizens of this country. I don't even have a problem with people saying it that way, if they'd like, on their own. But if I ever have kids, they better the heck not be forced to say it in school if they don't want to. And who is going to teach them NOT to? A five year old is going to do what mommy and daddy do. That's how kids learn this stuff. They don't just 'decide' to not utter the words "under God". -
What a cool story. 105 year old bowler And he still bowls better then a drunk southsider... :puke :puke :puke

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) The bullpen has not been the problem. Early on in the year, sure, they were a problem. But, for a long period of time up to this point, they've been consistent to great. The problem, is our $40 billion rotation. They have sucked some serious dick on the year, and even Contreras is having bad games now. We've won, what, 13 out of the last 16? WE SUCK. Come on people. They're not all going to have sub 3 ERA's as starters and sub 1.5 ERA's as relief guys. Has it been all roses? No. But it's not been a bad stretch here, and we all know we're going to probably pick up an arm before the trade deadline.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) I don't know if that is what the decision does. Yes, the decision upholds the Constitutional separation of powers, and in so doing it points out tthat the President has no legislative authority to create the military tribunals as in existence at Guantanamo. That is my interpretation from Justic Bayer's opinion, which acknowledges that the Executive can seek authority from Congress to create such tribunals. I interpret this as saying that the now established right to the military justice protections of Geneva and the Presidential lack of legislative authority together mean that the military commissions cannot stand as legitimate. I don't see that the detainees are being granted rights under the Constitution. That makes sense. And I agree with the sentiment that this basically was a "go get the law done right" message.

I think Jose's streak is over... unless he gets a ND now.

Nice DP!!
-
Part of me agrees with this and the other part doesn't. These people shouldn't be guaranteed CONSTITUTIONAL rights, and that's exactly what they're being granted. That's what troubles me. Geneva convention is one thing, but constitutional rights is another, and this (from what I skimmed) seems to give these detainees those rights.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) I think there should be an investigation into your punctuation. Why does the first sentence have nine question marks, While the second one has four, And the last one three? Maybe it's a sign to the terrorists... Who made you the grammar police? Stop it. It's condescending bulls***. -

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) Hahahahahaha. You're trying to say that this wasn't done to wrest more seats to the GOP, that part was only coincidence? That's hilarious. The real issue is pretty transparent here. Hahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... OF COURSE it was a power grab. But, the LEGISTLATIVE BODY had not drawn districts in this state since 1990, and the districts have shifted. So, the GOP went ahead and redrew them, basically saying that the districts had changed immensely since 1990. Of course they had. Nothing would have been said if this was done 2 years earlier by the same legislature, but it was tied up in the COURT system, which is where it doesn't belong. I agree, though, NSS, that an independant body would be even better, but that's not how most states do it.
