So now Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity will say "see? I TOLD you people we had the power, now bow down and kiss my feet." What BS.
-
Wow, just like 2005, we start the same way for 2006 - hopefully with another 1-0 shutout win... AND we get to watch the rings and the CHAMPIONSHIP FLAG!
-
That means we're fired.
-
Hell yea, dude. Make us Dallas people proud. We have to get a Dallas gathering of soxtalk together to down some brew and talk about our CHAMPIONSHIP. WOOOHOOOO!
-
Well, poop. Oh well, there goes my lunch money for today.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Oh yeah? Right now we are focused on the public companies and the extreme focus on spreadsheet control going forward with 404. It seems that everybody is using too much manual effort when one piece of software will satisfy all the requirements. Oh hell yea. Especially where I am now. I see a tremendous business opportunity for a niche to help consult companies going public how to upgrade their stuff to be S-O compliant. Wanna go into business? And no, not the green-weed business.

Only you, the king of Green. It's not that easy being green; Having to spend each day the color of the leaves. When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold... or something much more colorful like that. It's not easy being green. It seems you blend in with so many other ord'nary things. And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water or stars in the sky. But green's the color of Spring. And green can be cool and friendly-like. And green can be big like an ocean, or important like a mountain, or tall like a tree. When green is all there is to be It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why? Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful! And I think it's what I want to be.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) I know it. I sell enterprise software, but my niche is analyzing sarbanes and financial auditor costs and headaches. And I sell solutions to close the books faster and now spreadsheet control for sarbanes compliance. Im always curious to the process and the problems people have. I'd have a field day offering you stories and opportunites, both from a large corporation setting to a "private" small company setting. Private is not technically applicable to sarbanes, unless they intend on going public.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) I'm still trying to close FY04 May I ask where you work? Besides at the plushie plant?
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) sarbanes auditors or just financial? They still suck.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) I'm bored waiting for the damn Auditors to get their s*** together and leave so I can close October. AUDITORS SUCK. I'm through with October, almost, thank goodness.

That gives a whole new meaning to "DD".

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 03:20 AM) I think Dye and Konerko were good in the 3 and 4 spot. (when that's how they were aligned, which wasn't until the end of the season when we caught fire.) Too bad they weren't there all year. I think Dye will have another great year if he hits in front of Paul. This OBP stuff kills me. Sabermetrics nor stats don't win. Remember, only one stat matters: W We need CONSISTENCY from our lineup - that's what we all were screaming about all year. At least MORE consistency.
-
I think that you have to upgrade your 3-4 part of the lineup. Someone will have to go that's of moderate value, such as a Rowand or even a Brian Anderson - who's got the talent - plus a good arm. Not B-Mac, but a good prospect... Baj, someone like that plus a Pollite kind of arm - for a OBP guy of .800 consistently.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) Here's the thing though Kap: When you can throw JC, Buehrle, Garland, and Garcia out there..hell Bmac might crack these top 4 next year, anyways when you have those starting pitchers you're going to have a legit shot to win it all every year. I agree with that. But I would like the offense to win some games too, on a consistent basis.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 02:38 AM) Point is, no Sox player had a career year. Which is what the post above this said. Pitching and defense win. They will continue to win as long as we improve slightly on offense. This team needs no major overhauls as long as PK is retained. Some posters around here will lead you to believe that we caught lightning in a bottle and we need to go out and trade for this guy or sign this guy. We don't. We had the best record in the AL all year. It wasn't a fluke. I said they caught lightning in a bottle. I'm not saying we make WHOLESALE changes, but I do think that we are going to have to get rid of one or two "important" pieces to upgrade. The "lightning in the bottle" term - do you think that we will get 4 complete games in an ALCS again? That was, to me, lightning in a bottle. No, the team wasn't a fluke. 11-1 in the playoffs was. I think they still would have won, but I don't think that we were THAT much better then all the other teams out there. That's why I used the phrase. Hopefully that clarifies my points a little better.
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 02:33 AM) Who had a career year, if I may ask? This TEAM overcame its deficiencies rather well, often times because their pitching and defense overcame them. That will continue to happen with this team. However, it won't win them another world title. That's my point. If they add to strengths and get rid of weaknesses, we could be in for a good ride next fall, too.
-
If we stand pat, we get passed. Next year will be different then this year.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) I believe this was the thinking that got the Angels into trouble in 2003. Not to say it won't work for us, but something to think about. As long as we add a #3 hitter, preferably (IMO) one wearing #35, we'll have upgraded. That's a good point. I hope he is 100%, and then it doesn't matter. Anything short of 100%, sorry, but it won't work.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) I'll take my chances with this pitching staff instead of trading one of our pitchers away for a 3 hitter. Agree, but the problem is one injury from being out of the "most competetive division in baseball". The team was special, but they need more horses to stay competing in the long run. Man, I'm sounding like Antonio Osuna and some others... yes, we won... but this team will NOT win again with the exact same lineup. I think they can be BETTER next year, but there's going to have to be some give and take most likely.
-
Because, frankly, they won't catch lightning in a bottle twice without a solid #3. They know this. And for the first time in years and years, they have payroll flexibility.
-
QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) The only guys who likely could be traded are Marte and El Duque, or some minor leaguers. No Sox regular will be traded. Again, you have to give up something to get something. Let's quit the X-Box thinking. *IF* we go the trade route, we're going to have to give up some pieces.
-
Ya... I didn't say who, but some of our favorites may become trade bait. Personally, I like doing business with the Yankmees. Seems like when we do, we do well... (see E-Lo). How about A-Rod for A-Row? LMAO.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) I really doubt that. You have to give up something to get something. And this year's free agent market SUCKS.
-
Guys and gals, we will TRADE if we do anything. In fact, I'd say we would trade for sure. The core will probably be the same, however, I'd imagine that a couple of "favorites" will most likely move to get that OBP guy we all wanted on July 31.
