  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) Keep looking at those obscure stats instead of using your eyes. Castilla is a much better hitter than Crede is or will ever be. I can't believe we are even arguing this. Notice, I haven't mentioned defense because Crede's is better than Castilla's. Oh, ok. So now OPS+ is an obscure stat because it evens out all the parks? Mmk. I think Ozuna's Hustle needs some lovin...
  2. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) A wee bit better offensively? LOL. Do you think Crede will ever even sniff a .281 career AVG, 307 homers, and, 1035 RBI's? Puhleeze. You can say it's mainly because of Coors Field but Crede has also had the benefit of playing at Coors East. Last year, the Cell was even more of a hitter's park than Coors. OPS+ is park adjusted... He really isn't that great. He's spent over half of his years at Coors, and a 96 OPS+ is worse than average... Baseball-reference has Coors Field's park factor at 120, as opposed to US Cellular's at 107...
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) Crede isn't even in the same league as Herbert Perry as far as hitting goes. I can't believe you are even questioning the fact that Castilla is a far better hitter than Crede, Coors or no Coors. Alright, Castilla is a wee bit better offensively, not to make much of a difference, though. Castilla is a career 96 OPS+ to Crede's 89. Factor in the better defender -- Crede -- as well as comparing what the two of them make -- Crede makes less than a million (IIRC), and Castilla makes at least two million -- as well as what we'd have to give up to get Castilla (if we gave anything of value, it would be the Nats winning the deal). Plus, the age factor, and I'll take Crede.
  4. Isn't Castilla hitting better than Eric Chavez, too? I think Beane is going to try and make a deal for Castilla any day now... (And yes, I realize that Crede/Chavez aren't in the same league as far as third-sackers. But, I think it's comical judging a guy off of 127 ABs...)
  5. QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) Jabroni, I want to check something out. What are the positives of the White Sox so far? Pablo Ozuna? Duh...
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 16, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) Can't come soon enough. I already told myself I would buy tickets for the game he comes back. I can't wait to see Hurt back. Ditto. Frank is getting the loudest ovation ever from me personally the day he comes back. What a boost he'll be to our lineup...
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ May 17, 2005 -> 03:16 AM) El Duque was hanging by a thread in nearly every start he had this year. It's just a matter of time before his 6 IP, 2 ER games become 5 IP, 5 ER. El Duque has always been like this. He's a career 116 ERA+. He knows how to pitch. He'll have nights like this where his breaking stuff won't be great, but by no means is he going to fall off a cliff. I expect, at the least, a league average year from El Duque. Who knows... he was s***ty tonight, but maybe the rest tonight (as well as the extra day off on Thursday) will allow him to be dynomite on Sunday. I know I shouldn't think this way, but I think there will be a lot more happy people than mad people if you told them that El Duque would have a bad outing tonight, as opposed to Sunday night against you-know-who.
  8. QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 17, 2005 -> 03:11 AM) A cold streak after a hot streak...in baseball? That must be the first one EVER!! Give it a break. There are a couple guys that have the right approach at the plate right now, thats it. You could single just about anyone out of this lineup and say they aren't doing their job, so enough of the "I hate (Harris/Crede/Dye/Konerko) so I'm gonna point it out to everyone" bulls*** already. It really gets tiring. Great post.
  9. Pierzynski - Crede - Uribe. Come on, fellas, he's not pitching well this year, go get 'em.
  10. It's a shame Marte gave up that dinger. Our bullpen was spectacular up until then, too. Is Cordero pretty much 'Game-over'?
  11. Wow. The first curveball from that guy is on a 3-2 count. Tip your cap, Paully...
  12. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:39 AM) Uh huh. Didn't Ozuna hustle enuf for you? B/c if I don't get another 'Pablo hustles' thread, how will I form my opinions? I almost spit my cereal on the screen that morning. That's classic -- a thread titled "Ozuna's Hustle"...
  13. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:30 AM) Omg, this is so precious.... It's funny... Harris is an 'all-or-nothing' player, yet didn't he have a .360 OBP or close to that against right handers last year?
  14. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:24 AM) Willie shouldn't be swinging for the fences, lol. I'm glad your inside Harris' head. Come on, Sox. Their pitching isn't great. Be back in a few.
  15. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) Willie swung for a homer on a 2-0 count when we needed baserunners. That is inexcusable. Looked like a good pitch to swing at to me... He got a fastball, and just didn't do a good job hitting it -- or, hitting it hard, I should say.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) I would be the happiest person in Chicago if both of those guys never played another game for the Sox. Neither of them are winners, no matter what Hawk and DJ try to tell Sox fans. What exactly is a winner? Is Scott Podesdnik a winner?
  17. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) Why the fock is Ozzie again tinkering with his two boyfriends Timo and Harris in the line up? What a focking joke Where exactly did all the Harris hate come from today? He's 1-for-3. I can understand if he's 0-for-3 and stranded seven guys on base, but he hasn't... Crede missed that one by a foot and a half.
  18. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) Willie is worthless. We need baserunners so he actually swings on a 2-0 count. Draw a walk you piece of crap! Willie is to worthless as Timo is to... Clutch?
  19. Mejor props to Vizcaino tonight. Bailed us out a little bit on a night where Orlando didn't have it.
  20. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) So Crede-lovers, is this still his year? His AVG is now .266 after another Cruddypopsitup. I personally want to know what happened to Timo's friends... Or, as they might say in Spanish, Timo's amigos...
  21. Call me crazy (which I expect to be called), but maybe it's better that El Duque only had to throw 75 pitches or so tonight. I mean, if he's going well, Ozzie'd probably throw him 105+. I know that's an unfortunate thing to say, but he should be pretty fresh for the game on Sunday -- not that the game on Sunday is more important than today, but I'd love a fresh El Duque against Prior...
  22. Timo you f***ing bum. What, three walks last inning, and you're first-pitch hacking? f***in....
  23. Funny -- normally, two of our most patient hitters on the team (Harris and Pods) see about a total of five pitches, and the middle of the order guys, the supposed "free-swingers" are the ones drawing the walks. Nice inning, guys!
  24. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 16, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) My problem is with Cotts being brought in after he had a train wreck of an outing when Politte hasn't pitched in forever. If Politte was hurt then I could see but why is he not getting some work if he's healthy? Is Politte hurt? There's really no reason that Cotts is the first one to get the call in a two run game, regardless of him being a lefty...
