At the end of the year, perhaps a deal involving him and someone else to Texas for their kid that's stuck behind Tiexera... f***, what's his name, Adrian Gonzalez? Yeah, that's it. Well, that's what I'd like to see. And, if you can do it for about five million a year, get Garland re-upped. Off to bed and to listen to the new Dave CD (thanks Tom ).

Link Another interesting read from THT... I'm currently reading up on their latest Bullpen Book that they released, in which they talk about FIP and P in evaluating relievers. It really is an awesome site...

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 11, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) You mean like the best team in baseball losing a series to a last place team? It seems like me and you are the only two people who don't think their starting pitching is all that great...
-
It didn't look like Giambi was doing too well down there in the first place. Oh well, it was a good signing. Too bad it didn't work out. No harm, no foul.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 11, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) I don't hate him, the guy rides the bench and he's come through sometimes and sometimes he doesn't. I don't expect anything diff, from a bench guy. . Your GM/manager should put his team in the best position to win every night. Having a guy on your team who last year, couldn't even get on-base three out of ten times, is terrible. -

QUOTE(Y2HH @ May 11, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) Personally, I'm not any more impressed with the Twins offense than with our own. Marunaueou or however you spell his name isn't that special, hes no Frank Thomas. They are simply not folding under pressure, keeping their cool and doing what it takes to win, we are losing our cool, swinging from the heels, and f***ing up bases loaded no out opportunties GAME AFTER GAME. I just got back from school, and I hate to break it to ya, but Morneau > Konerko... -
QUOTE(beck72 @ May 11, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) My main point of the post was to get people thinking, would it be worth giving up a top prospect for a top notch closer? [probably the most pressing need for the sox by the deadline] If the Sox could get a guy like Wagner for less, great. I wouldn't think that we would have to give up Anderson, but with teams like the Cubs (among others) also bidding for a late inning pitcher, it might be that way. I was thinking three above average prospects, but not top tier, i.e. Anderson.

Is there any reason why Timo should be kept over Gload or Harris? One good reason? -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 11, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) I would take exception to that. AJ has been awesome at stopping balls in the dirt, and making plays at second when he has a chance. He also has been incredible at keeping his pitchers focused and making good pitches. Ack -- I should have clarified -- I meant his arm, but I should have put that down. My bad. You take the good with the bad, and the good (IMO) outweighs the bad by a ton with AJ... The only bad I see in him is his arm. -

AJ hasn't been very good defensively this year. But, he makes up for it with his ability to call a game and work with his pitchers. Which is OK -- I'm just pointing it out. -

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ May 11, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) It's too late now, but we should've had Willie DH instead of Dye. Willie's been hitting well in the little amount of time he's been playing. Harris really must be disliked by Guillen. He's done nothing but good things this year for the team (other than the error -- among many, in Oakland, fwiw), yet he sees Timo Perez get all the OF time. -
Dotel was the best deadline closer last season, right? Am I missing someone? Who did Oakland give up? Teahan? Who else...? I know Teahan is a good prospect, but he certainly isn't a top prospect. They didn't have to give up their Brian Anderson (Nick Swisher) for Dotel, yet we should give up Anderson to get Wagner? And I realize that Wagner is better than Dotel, don't get me wrong. But I don't see the need in giving up Anderson/Sweeney/McCarthy...

Thanks for the PBP, SS2k and ss71. It's appreciated -- f***in school... -
Jermaine down 0-2. Consider the AB done...?
-
I realize the hitting has to be better, but I blame the pitching (thus far) in this one. Six runs should be enough....
-
Marte flirts with disaster, yet makes his pitches. Thanks, Damaso. But seriously, I want Aubrey Huff on this team. Kenny needs to get him to make me happy. Or else, I'll be 'quickman' bitter. Just teasin'...
-
Aubrey Huff... the bidding begins. For Aubrey Huff, you can have a nice, shiny Timo Perez, a Joe Crede, a Felix Diaz, as well as two out ofo Arnie Munoz/Jeff Bajenareau/Josh Fields (RHP)/Jon Adkins. Please do it. It would make me happy. Come on, Damaso.

QUOTE(JohnStamos @ May 11, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) I have not seen one thing from Vizcaino this year that makes me want him in a tie ball game. I strongly disagree with the way Ozzie has managed the bullpen thus far this game. On that note, welcome to Soxtalk!
-
Any reason Vizcaino is still in the game? He didn't have it last inning...
-
I think someone already said this, but I've never seen so many flyballs that were mere feet away from a homer. Seriously.

QUOTE(quickman @ May 11, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) either that or he just sucks this year He's never been that great. Even last year, he was just a little above average. But certainly not a top-tier reliever.
