Freddy seems to get lacksadaisical(sp?) when he gets a big lead. He's got the stuff and the command to shut the opposition down, he just gets 'lazy' (for lack of a better word). -

Sandy Alomar bases loaded single off of Silva, 2-0 Rangers! And Delluci singles, making it 3-0 Rangers! Still two on for the Rangers. -

Nice job shutting 'em down right after we score, Freddy. -

And it all starts with a walk. Everett, take your time getting back. We got Harris/Ozuna (vs. lefties) until you're 100% healthy. No need to rush it... -

QUOTE(black jack @ May 14, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) Does WGN superstation have an option to add more Sox games if they are in contention? i don't remember two games in one week for quite some time. Hopefully, they can so i can actually watch more games instead of my XM broadcast. I don't know if you heard about this, but WGN will be broadcasting the Crosstown Series this year (along with CSN, one station will have Hawk/DJ, the other will have Kasper and the other guy). -

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 14, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Podsednik is pissing me off. So far he's making me happy. I think his SLG% is garbage, but he's walking -- a lot. I hope it's for real (the OBP). The times he pisses me off is when he gets caught stealing or when he takes a s***ty route to the ball. -

I guess there was a last minute lineup change -- Keith Reed is playing CF for the Orioles. -

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 13, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Just got home from U of I Hopefully be going sunday. Steve, if you're sitting UD, let me know. I'm going Sunday, I got UD tix. -
Is Ozzie afraid to use Harris as a CF'er? I don't recall, he wasn't that bad playing as CF'er last season, was he? Reason I ask, is because he's been (arguably) our best player off the bench, and I don't see the big deal in moving Harris to center and Rowand to right for one game... Since Everett is still hurting, that probably means Timo plays in left tonight, huh? Yuck, hopefully I don't see him on Sunday...

QUOTE(Randar68 @ May 13, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) You mean like Joe Borchard? Come on. It's much better to draft a good hitter with projectible size/power and a real position in the field than to draft a straight-up power hitter out of college. You never know how much of that power is metal bats and how much is ability. The odds are probably equivalent to taking a pitcher that they'll ever produce in the majors. I'm highly anti-power hitter if that's their primary tool. Personally, I'd prefer a guy who has shown superb strike zone judgement throughout his career, good BB's numbers, low K's, good contact. A kid who might, as you say, project to gain some power as he gets older. That said, these kids don't grow on trees. I'm just saying, ideally...

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 13, 2005 -> 04:06 AM) EXACTLY! I'm glad that I'm not the only one to get this point. He is backtracking like crazy. It's pitiful. Is it more pitiful than blaming a game on one player...?
-
BTW -- 29 and change for tonight's game, on not the greatest of nights. Nice job, Sox fans. You guys/we were into every pitch, I probably had a better time tonight than at Opening Day.
-
Just got back from the game. I'm going back, thinking about Jon Garland pitching on short rest at Boston. I'm reaching for some other starts, but I can't find any. Jon was brilliant tonight -- brilliant. I've never been so happy for him... When he struck out Tejada on that filthy sinker/offspeed pitch down and it, I screamed. Jon was un-f***ing-believable tonight. Congrats, Jon.

QUOTE(danman31 @ May 12, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) Try thinking about how pissed off you would be if you were the DBacks or Angels and might possibly lose your first round pick from last year's draft. That would blow. Shouldn't they have known what they were getting into when they drafted a Boras client, though? I certainly don't agree with how much Boras expects for his clients, but, shouldn't a team know what they're buying when they draft a Boras guy?
-
If it's someone like Mariotti, I swear... I'm guessing Phil Rogers or a player. Or perhaps even Guillen, they like to talk to the coaches.
-
What is the earliest they will call the game?

Well, rain or no rain, I'm going down there. Dollar Hotdog night is not going to be ruined for me... -
QUOTE(Randar68 @ May 12, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Not quite accurate. They signed their first 20 selections (thru the 16th round) last year... I'd like to know if Dave Wilder regrets not signing Wes Hodges. Gonna be a 1st or second round pick next draft, IMO. Best available player is a nice way to go, but unfortunately, money and signability always factor into the equation. Weaver and Drew won't have the leverage they had last year, but they won't be easy signs either. Boras has a lot of first round talent this year, so there are going to be a lot of kids fall because of that. We already know about the Sox's aversion to dealing with him. That sort of pisses me off, though. We don't have any supplamental picks or second round picks. Do we even have a third round pick? I don't think it's a great idea to limit ones-self by saying, "We're not dealing with this agent". There's a chance that both Weaver and Drew could fall to #15, and to my understanding, these guys are both top ten picks in terms of talent. I'd be extatic if we got Drew.

QUOTE(Beastly @ May 12, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Chavez is signed long term. Dotel seems to be in the new ownership's plans. Dotel will be traded by the deadline (once his stock rises again)... I don't know where you saw/heard that, but if you did see it somewhere, can ya post it? And, any deal for Chavez would have to start with McCarthy.
-
Randar, money and agent aside, where would you rank Drew amongst all position players? Just, talking about pure skills here (as opposed to including signability, etc etc).
