Lilly = done. Nice job, Sox -- way to chase him away early. -

QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ May 7, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Kids should not be allowed to sing the national anthem, im sorry That was an awesome rendition of "Oh Canada". Really nice job by those kids. -
Am I reading this wrong? I doubt Maddux pitches 400+ innings in one season...

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 7, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) If he felt strong, I see no reason why he shouldn't have pitched the 7th. That's the thing. Do you think any competitor with the right mind is going to say, "Take me out, I'm done". Especially not El Duque. I just think it's in the best interests of the team for the long haul that El Duque is limited to 105 pitches or right around there. EDIT: And I should say, there are exceptions. If El Duque starts the inning with 90 pitches, and there are runners on base with two out, and he's at 108 pitches (just making this up), then obviously, you let him have his shot at getting out of the inning. I just didn't like the decision to keep him in the game, especially when he was at 100 to start the inning.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 7, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) Better that Muhsin, Fred Miller, Garza? Tom Thayer (sp?), Bears broadcast guy on WBBM, likes the Garza move the best out of all three. He was raving about it on the pre-draft show...

QUOTE(SEALgep @ May 7, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) No one is holding Clemens back, and I'm not talking about a talent level comparison. True, Clemens doesn't have the injury history, but El Duque is healthy. If he gets hurt, he's going to get hurt. We don't have the luxury to have that guy go out and have an 85 pitch count. It's not his game. Holding him back may keep him healthy, but if we're limiting his pitch count and taking him out of his element, well, we'll be playing with fire. No one is saying an 85 pitch count. But was there really a reason that El Duque came out for the seventh last night, other than to have a chance at the win? He was at 99 or 100 pitches, and it's not like our bullpen was worked to death the past couple nights. It helped us last night, but down the road, it's gonna bite us in the ass. And, this isn't the first time that this has happened. He went one inning too long last game, too, and that resulted in a pitch count at or over 110. This isn't Mark Buehrle or Livan Hernandez were talking about. El Duque pitched a fine game -- not great, but good enough, going six strong and giving up three. There really was no need for him to go out in the seventh...

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 7, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) Timo was tremendous today. We need a team full of timo's Oh, could you imagine all the clutch-ness on a team full of Timo's? You want a team that might challenge for 160+ wins, that is it...
-
WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
-
Tying run on base. Adams rips one, I don't know why Timo was so shaded towards the left-center gap...
-
QUOTE(fathom @ May 7, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) If you can't count on Timo hitting a flyball into the outfield, then he shouldn't be in the majors. Ozzie obviously believes Timo can do that, because he had him ph in a situation where a flyball was needed last Friday night. BTW, Everett's very slow. For all the talk about him being clutch, he's been really un-clutch this year. Sox vs. Detroit, bases loaded, we need a flyball. The whiff. Could've used a flyball there, bunt popout.
-
QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ May 7, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) With Timo at the plate, I go with the bunt. Therein lies the problem. Timo shouldn't be at the plate in the first place.
-
Nice job, Damaso. Real great set-up work there.
-
Anyone else watching the game on CSN+? Is it just my TV, or when they show the linescores on the bottom, can you not see the second team?
-
Damn, I didn't start Brad Penny today. He dominated again. Wow, nice bounce for Iguchi. Double good move by Ozzie to bring in Hermy for the ninth. After all, I need someone to get some saves more by 8th place team...

Marte has been awesome this year. Awesome with a capital 'A'. One more inning, bullpen. Hold 'em and go home. Or, back to the hotel.
-
What does everyone think about the scoreboards on the rightfield and leftfield walls? They're too flashy for me, but that's kind of cool how they have the diamond there that shows runners on base...

QUOTE(quickman @ May 7, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) this goes back to what i was saying about Ozzie. he defies all logic. yet he wins, he drives me nuts, and I will be dead by years end. LOL! I must say, I've liked the way Ozzie has used the bullpen, as far as playing the matchups, and not going with Shingo just because 'he's the closer'. (even though he did use him the past two days) But the last two El Duque starts, IMO, Ozzie has pitched Orlando one inning too long in each start. Those add up -- they might not hurt you now, but they aren't needed for a pitcher who doesn't has a great track record when it comes to durability.

In honor of Hawk... That's a hang whiff'em.
-
QUOTE(quickman @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:56 AM) I now officially hate Timo, we need a fly ball and he tries to bunt. Why he is batting fifth is beyond me Quick, it's because he doesn't want to disrupt the 'vibes' of the lineup. My ass...

2 RUN SINGLE!!!! AJ! HUGE!
-
Why, again, should Timo be up here in favor of Harris/Ozuna?
-
Bases loaded. Come on, AJ. We need a hit or a walk, here. Right now.
-
f*** f*** f***. 2-2 to Jermaine...
-
Timo you f***ing bum. EDIT: Is there a trademark thing? Timo you f***ing bum.TM

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Anyone vs Timo has the makings of a K Brian, you think El Duque can pitch the 8th? I mean, he's only at 114 pitches...
