  1. Even if we lose, as bad as it might be, it's still only one loss. 8-5 isn't terrible, I bet the Yanks are really fired up after being dominated by the Red Sox. And, even though this may seem stupid, our offense can come back from this. It's a rookie pitcher, who knows. It's lightning out by my house right now, let's hope it shifts over towards the Cell.
  2. LOL, I can't believe this post has spanned two pages already. What irony, I type a post talking about how this thread is growing, yet I make a post to keep it growing.
  3. I know this has been discussed a TON on these boards, and I apologize if I'm wasting bandwidth with this post, and I thought I'd post it in here because it is somewhat Sox related, BUT: I am angered and surprised as hell that this hasn't been made a bigger deal of. I remember a couple years back at Comisky, I don't remember what game it was during (It might have been a Royals game), but a fan dumped beer on the CFer. Well, that created a huge stir - ESPN was all over it, how the "mean" Sox fans were to do something like that. Well, this weekend, Ken Griffey Jr went back to right-center to retrieve a ball that had made it into the gap. While going back there, a big splash of what looked like a fluid (probably beer) was dumped right on or near Ken Griffey. Not to mention how the Cub fans just threw tons and tons of cups onto the field after numerous player emotional explosions. I just am amazed how much of a double-standard there is in this town. Absolutely NOTHING was made of the fact that Griffey was nearly doused in beer, but when it happens during a Sox game, it's all those bad, jag-off fans on the Southside of Chicago. And, say Sox fans did throw cups onto the field like that. It's funny how when the Cub fans do it, they're just into the game and involved in the game, but when something like that on the Southside, it's like every Sox fan is labeled as the bad guy and we have to hear about it from the local and national media. OK, Rant over. I was just dissappointed that more wasn't made of Griffey nearly being doused in beer, but oh well, I guess that that's just the way it is...
  4. ???? How would that happen, lol? Harris and Wilfork will both be taken in the first round, the Bears will be lucky to have one of them fall to 14. I agree, though, that if you can do this while hanging onto that first rounder, I'm all for it.
  5. Don't get me wrong, I'm not totally disgusted with Danny Wright's performances thus far. He clearly hasn't had his best stuff in either of his starts, yet he's kept us in both of the games he's started. Isn't that all you can really ask for from your fifth guy, well, in our situation? My thinking, as well as many others, is that if you can get better production out of another player at that role, in this case the fifth starter role, than you make that switch. But it is a double bonus, as, if things go right, you can get better production our of both Cotts in the fifth starter spot, and Wright in the long relief spot. I feel a move like this actually makes our rotation AND our bullpen better, because, for some reason, Wright seems to pitch a lot better out of the bullpen than as a starter.
  6. Pardon me for having a brain cramp and being dumb. How is Slugging Percentage determined?
  7. DJ just commented about how two-game series' suck, and he explained why. I don't know what they're talking about boners, though....
  8. Actually, (I'm being serious about this), my mom's second cousin, Donn Pall, former White Sox pitcher, almost got the job. He was down to the final four who they were choosing, so I was a bit dissappointed when he wasn't picked. I was just a kid, but back when Donn Pall was with the Sox, this one time, I talked to him from our seats in the bleachers to the bullpen, he was such a cool guy. I was all shy because of seeing a big-leaguer, but I still got autographs from him. LOL, when he was asked about who he liked being with better, the Cubs and the Sox, he said that he burned his Cubs jersey, so he's White Sox black and white forever! Just a little story from me...
  9. That's exactly what I think should happen, a switch-up of Danny Wright and Cotts. Give Cottsy a shot to start, damnit, he's earned it.
  10. No, if you see the replay again, Frank had second easily, probably standing. He started gimping halfway to second, he almost beat it out even gimping halfway there, lol. I heard on The Score, 670, that Frank is day-to-day.
  11. Tell me how a player who has hit 315+ and a 370 OBP three of the past for years (one of those years he hit a 'crappy' 305) is overrated? Even Baseball Tonight gave Mags his props, calling him a Top 5 Outfielder in all of the majors, behind Vlad, Bonds, and a few others... I also think that the figure of money isnt quite at 15 million, just a hunch. I think it's more around 12-13.5 million a year. Brando, may I ask if he was wanting 13 million a year for five years, would you sign him to that? I certainly would...
  12. CUBS LOSE! CUBS LOSE ! HAHAHAHAHA, Great day today, Sox win, Cubs lose! :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs
  13. Two outs, runner on first, Derrek Lee up, 11-10 Reds. Lets go Danny-boy!
  14. A Big clutch hit by Sammy, a ground out to third. :finger :fthecubs
  15. Griffey up with two on and two out in the tenth!
  16. Lets go Jiminez, we need some insurance with this Reds pitching staff, drive him in from third. 11-9 Reds, Top 10!
  17. The only thing I see wrong with resigning Mags is that ownership would then use that as an excuse to not go out and get more guys - I really hope resigning Mags at 12-13 Million per year wouldn't, and shouldn't, hamstring our GM and our payroll. Other than that, we need to have a franchise player, and Mags is just that. I'm expecting a big year from Mags. In other news, a two run double in the top of the tenth off of the great Joe Borowski gives the Reds a 11-9 lead!
  18. Holy Crap! I just saw a replay, they were showing how the wind is reaping havoc with the ball, and it showed Ken Griffey going back for a fly ball to right center, and beer or something just spilled right onto him from the bleacher bums... But those are just the fans being into the game, lol. Did anyone else see that? HAHAHAHAHAH!!! SAMMY LOSES THE BALL IN THE SUN ON AN EASY POP UP!!!
  19. Oh No!!! Greg Maddux, of all people the great Greg Maddux, is getting 'sqeezed' yet again! THESE UMPS FRIGGIN SUCK! WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THINKING!?!?!??! DON'T THEY KNOW EVERY PITCH THAT COMES WITHIN A FOOT OF HOME PLATE THROWN BY GREG MADDUX SHOULD BE CALLED A STRIKE?!?!?!?! Hahahahaha, I love this Reds team. Poor Greg Maddux, five runs through five innings. Damn, he's so dominant. :fthecubs :fthecubs :fyou :finger
  20. Brando, you asked for seven innings and one run. Esty gave you nine innings, no runs.
  21. Sox win, great pitching performance by Loaiza! Complete Game, Shutout! Bring on the Yankees!
  22. Another 1-2-3 inning for Loaiza, 99 pitches through 8 innings. Sure, let him go all the way.
  23. Hmm, Ozzie will probably let Loaiza go all the way, but I would let him go the eigth and get Adkins some work in the ninth...
