  1. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) I just can't fathom a team giving 42M just to negotiate with a player. You might as well go out and sign Barry Zito and Jason Schmidt for the money. Who says they won't?
  2. QUOTE(soxhawks @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?page=05expertpicks this is the first prediction i have seen picking us to win the central, its also interesting no one picked the indians Scott Ridge picked the Indians. Pedro Gomez picked the Tigers. Everyone else picks the Twins.
  3. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) Problem is both are color guys. No, Hawk is the PBP guy.
  4. Jose is a guy that stats truly don't tell the whole story. He's wildly inconsistent. He's either exceptional or terrible, and in stretches. But he's never had a season where the bad overwhelmed the good. In fact, he's never had a season where the bad was as often as the good. To state that it is more likely is completely baseless. There is absolutely no evidence to expect that. But I guess I'm the one who deserves an "I'm a dumbass" sign.... :finger
  5. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) All I'm saying that there's no middle ground with Contreras, he's either good or bad. To me, I think we'll probably see more of the bad, but that's just the pessimist in me I suppose. You would have rathered he put up those good numbers in Septemebr not August, so he'd have something to build on along with his last game shutout. Jose may be able to win those amount of games, but he'll have a greater chance at posting more in the L column as well. Well, based on the fact that Contreras has never had a losing season, I'd say your pessimism is more trolling than anything.
  6. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) Bringing me to the bigger point THE MEDIA: KEEPING AMERICA SCARED Don't blame the media. It's their job to report this to us. Blame the jackasses pranking the department of Homeland Security.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Rogers seems like a pro-Sox, pro-Cubs guy -- a Chicago guy. I'm not really fond of when he brings up certain rumors, but I definitely like his analysis. He seems to be pretty objective in most of his columns, I for one am a fan of his. You're all wrong. Rogers is just a good objective reporter. He's not a fan of either team, per se. In fact, I believe I read somewhere he grew up a Ranger's fan.
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 20, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) If you sign Larkin though, where does he hit in the lineup? Does he takes Willie's spot in the #9 hole? No way. He'd be batting second, and would shift Aaron to a run-producing spot in the lineup.
  9. No way does Willie get traded. He can play the infield and the outfield, and is an adequate replacement for 2B and CF in case of injury.
  10. Our payroll will still be higher than Detroits next year. They're full of minimum contracts and can afford a few bad contracts.
