  1. Damn I stepped out for a bit and I'm glad we got Griffith. Hopefully he doesn't go to college.
  2. Rike sounds like a Jeremy Reed clone.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:28 PM) You can watch live on MLB.com btw. I love you.
  4. Damn I like Easley too. The D-Backs continue to sexy up that farm syatem.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:13 PM) Command issues? He walked 15 guys in 100 innings. Just for the record I didn't say that. Damn Slav, your post acts like I said that.
  6. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:10 PM) Just curious, but are you actually Homer Simpson? This is what I said earlier. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:10 PM) Still 25 picks away, but Nevin Griffith is still on the board. I doubt he'll be there when we pick and even if he is.... I don't like our chances of taking him.
  7. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) That makes sense.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:02 PM) or about three different college scouts who work for BA. I know what they say on the draft blog....but that's not what they think. For the record, they don't think it was a terrible pick. The biggest laughs of the first round were the Pirates and Twins picks. I call the Twins pick especially out on this thread. Revere was a HUGE reach but he does fit their "Pirahna" mold perfectly. Other than that, it was a terrible pick. Then again, I can't question the Twins scouting D.P.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) I hope he turns into Randy Johnson in 5 years so we can all hear about how everyone called it when the Sox made the pick. Well I like the pick but I'm in the minority here.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) Fantastic supplemental pics for the Nationals. Them and the Giants are having some damn good prospects in this draft.
  11. Schilling to the 9th now with the NO HITTER!!!!!!!!!! He's going to pitch the no hitter watch!!!!!!!!
  12. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) Jackson off the board at 45. Which team took him? They got a stud.
  13. C'mon... Justin Jackson!! That would be our future stud SS of the future.
  14. I should keep a stat track in the minors of Poreda and Porcello (if he does sign) just to keep everyone happy.
  15. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) mlb.com draft tracker I am too but it's f***ing up for me.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:22 PM) He has good control. He's Matt Thornton Jr. ^^^^^^^^^^ Even though I like the pick
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) I got one thing left to say, Aaron Poreda must put up some crazy numbers this year and move through the organization fast, or else, I don't know what I'm gonna do. Seriously, does this guy not seem like Andrew Sisco part 2? Hard fastball but with no secondary stuff and some command issues. Football is your M.O. I suggest you stick to that. Not every poster is good in every sport in analysis.
  18. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) im getting a few thoughts out there here...people b**** about broadway being a 1st rounder and that hes not gonna be a top of the rotation guy...well its looking more and more like he will be a solid big leaguer (albeit a 4th or 5th starter) but c onsidering we got him at pick what, 20? thats not bad....if every first rounder turned into a #3 hitter or a #1 starter, there would be 30 new studs every year in the majors...right now broadway has a 3.20 ERA at AAA, and is still relatively young...no he doesnt' throw hard, but if he can be a #4 or 5 starter for this team for a few years, tahts a successful draft, and i think people around here dont realize that second...has anyone mentioned poreda's command? 18 BB in 100 IP this year 28 BB in 112 last year. thats pretty outstanding for a guy who throws 96 from the left side....which i believe is the reason the A's wanted him...HR rate is also very solid, which probably suggests hes a GB pitcher. so basically the only reason people are bashing this pick is because we didnt get porcello.....well guess what...27 other teams didnt draft him either, why? not because they dont think hes good, but because they think that dollar for dollar there were better picks out there. the only thing worriesome abotu poreda is his lack of Ks, but given the fact that his other peripherals are very good, ill be willing to bet that if he can develop his secondary stuff better (which clearly KW and co. are counting on) that he will pick up the Ks as he moves along Good points. I already said I like this pick as well. He definetely fits the GB mode for the cell. His K's can also improve as well as his secondary pitches. He is still raw and very young. Not to mention he is a power lefty and it looks like were building on that. (Danks-Gio-Poreda) Again, I like the pick.
  19. San Francisco already had some studs in this draft. Bumgarner and Alderson could be really good and Wendell doesn't seem to be too shabby eigher. Lincecum-Main-Alderson-Bumgarner is a nice young core.
  20. QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:57 PM) If the SS is still there, Jackson, they will take him is my guess. I hope we pick Jackson. That would be an excellent 2nd round choice. From what I've read about him, he looks like a future stud.
  21. 1. David Price-Tampa Bay 2. Mike Moustakas-Kansas City 3. Josh Vitters-Chicago (NL) 4. Daniel Moskos-Pittsburgh 5. Matt Wieters-Baltimore 6. Ross Detwiler-Washington 7. Matt LaPorta-Milwaukee 8. Casey Weathers-Colorado 9. Jarrod Parker-Arizona 10. Madison Bumgarner-San Francisco 11. Phillippe Aumont-Seattle 12. Matt Dominguez-Florida 13. Beau Mills-Cleveland 14. Jason Heyward-Atlanta 15. Devin Mesoraco-Cinncinati 16. Kevin Ahrens-Toronto 17. Blake Beavan-Texas 18. Pete Kozma-St Louis 19. Joe Savery-Philadelphia 20. Chris Withrow-Los Angeles 21. J.P. Arencibia-Toronto 22. Tim Alderson-San Francisco 23. Nick Schmidt-San Diego 24. Micheal Main-Texas 25. Aaron Poreda-Chicago (AL) 26. James Simmons-Oakland 27. Rick Porcello-Detroit 28. Ben Revere-Minnesota 29. Wendell Fairley-San Francisco 30. Andrew Brackman-New York (AL) This concludes the 1st round of the draft.
  22. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) Brackman to the Yankees? Good call.
