  1. I didnt know when it was written (I always kind of assumed it was well after the revolution. but i did know the Under God was added in the 50s.
  2. Palin Investigation Stalled By McCain Campaign, State Legislator Says
  3. CNN just reported that there are apparently now e-mails coming to light that might directly link Palin to Trooper-gate.
  4. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 10:48 PM) A lot of the stuff that has come up from Palin hasn't been super deep opposition research, that stuff won't pop up in 36 hours. TPM seems to have done more research than the McCain campaign.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 09:38 PM) I sat there for a good 2 minutes trying to figure out what the big deal was on that one. the whole... "Fox news parrots GOP talking points" thing
  6. DOH! McCain Memo Accidentally Leaked on FoxNews.com
  7. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 10:00 PM) There's a lot more to it then that. A lot. Let it play out for a few days. what do you mean? I dont follow. By the way: It turns out Palin run a 527... ya know, the ones McCain hates. She also relied heavily on earmarks... something McCain hats. DOH!
  8. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 06:07 PM) I'm sure they knew about these 'scandals'. It doesn't matter who he picked, you guys would be going crazy over a 'scandal' with any VP selection. Actually, there are reports that McCain has dispatched a group of "vetters" to Alaska to do research n her past. Something you do... BEFORE you pick the VP. It just shows me more every day that they picked her as a political stunt.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 05:41 PM) Just as a thought experiment...let's say that Senator Obama's kids were a bit older and we found out one of them was Pregnant at age 17. Or we found out that Chelsea was pregnant at age 17. What would the reaction have been from the Limbaughs, Hannity's, Dobsons, etc.? Would they have left the kid alone? Oh, witho ut a doubt Rush would go off on how the Obama family is leading by example and with them in power they will say it's ok for teenagers to run around and get knocked up and rely on wellfare. No doubt in my mind.
  10. Bristol Palin is flat out off limits in my opinion. I wont even comment on it at all. In my humble opinion, even the best parents in the world have kids that dont follow their moral or ethical standards. And frankly, some people make mistakes.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 10:21 AM) Actually its not, according to you, McCain did exactly what was asked of him and "prayed from a distance", while Obama went in. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=1665138 He then actually went despite pressure not to. Obama went, but not to Iowa. He stayed away from the middle of Iowa per the Gov request.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) Funny, that's not how you portrayed it when it happened, not that I am surprised by that or anything... that's exactly how I portrayed it.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 08:23 PM) So, I can't speak for others, but at least my recollection of the flooding was that the governor of Iowa asked Senator McCain to stay away, and he refused to do so while Senator Obama listened. Senator Obama took a small photo op somewhere in Illinois, a fair distance away, while Senator McCain pushed his way in to the middle of the flooding and forced local assets to move to take care of his visit. That is 100% accurate.
  14. Apparently McCain is seriously considering giving his acceptance speech via satellite... from the Gustav disaster zone. Yes, the last thing you need in a disaster area is a throng to media and Secret Service security.
  15. Advisers Say Conservative Ire Pushed McCain Away From Picking Lieberman "The Maverick" buckled to partisan political pressure.
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 04:13 PM) Peeve has 3 E's and no A's. peeev?
  17. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 04:40 PM) Sure looks that way. Yet oddly... men find her very favorable. i wonder why that is
  18. Interesting... apparently the McCain campaign is considering turning the convention into a telethon to help with the hurricane. Interesting idea. I have no idea how to handle this if I were them. The logical choice would be to hold the nominations on Monday and cancel the remainder. But that's not really an option i dont think. Politically. they cant afford the lack of coverage after the Obama convention / speech. But as humans, they need to cancel.
  19. On a side note: My wife and I were taking our honeymoon in Disney Wold and we decided to drive since i hate flying. Our trip was scheduled to take us through NOLA on... Aug 29th. Yea, the day before Our wedding I was scrambling to make a new route.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 04:10 PM) A group of us were camping at Yellowstone that week. I was the one with a little transistor radio (I used it to check the White Sox results, it was 2005).. 2005... best year ever in my opinion Got Married... Sox Win the Series.
  21. PS: I suggest discussing the general Katrina impact here and leave this thread to strictly the "political" side of the story.
  22. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) Anyone who dies in that city from this storm will not have my sympathy. You may have been unprepared for Katrina, and FEMA certaintly didn't help, but everyone in New Orleans is given plenty of warning for Gustav. Get on the damn bus this time or attempt walking to higher ground. Atleast people in Florida are accustomed to hurricanes and typically have the supplies to cope with them if they remain. Now, even those crusty old "I'm aint gonna leave my town!!!" people should learn from the death of several thousand people three years ago. My wife and I got married Aug 27 2005... 2 days before Katrina. I remember getting ready in my hotel room and someone was interviewing a guy on CNN who was from NY or something like that. He said "I'm gonna stay. I've never been through a hurricane before!" I bowed my head and muttered, "you dumbass"
