QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 03:01 PM) He/She is probably already there. It's Michele. They are tracking private flights in and out of O'Hare / Midway!!

I just about flipped. I NEVER.... EVER get text messages. I hate them. I ask people not to text me. About 2 minutes ago, my phone's text message ringer went off. It's near the top of the hour. Good "drive time" announcement. I thought "here we go!"..... it was one of my co-workers asking if I would fix something on her phone on Monday. DOH!

I love the CNN stake out of all the "short-list" houses as if they expect the person to come running out onto the lawn naked with a giant Obama logo painted on their chest. Seriously.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) I JUST GOT MY TEXT~!!!!!! Juuuuust skiddin'. It'll be in the next hour. He wants to hit up all those commuters as they drive home for "BREAKING NEWS!!!" This gives me an idea. I think I might go wreck my car and say the RSO text made me do it. Oh wait, I just confessed. Damn. Now I can't do it. UPDATE: It's been an hour and no announcement. i would assume if it is true that Obama's VP will be in Springfield tomorrow, he HAS to announce today. The plane ride late tonight or early tomorrow will tip off reporters.

Talk about MAJORLY trying to raise the expectations: McCain Says Obama Will Get 15 Point Bounce from Convention I crunched the numbers: According to today's Gallup Poll, Obama leads McCain 45-44 with 11 undecided or other. Assuming Obama got all of the undecideds, and 2 from McCain, it should look like Obama 58% - McCain 42%. Unlikely. Since a minimum of 3-5% will likely vote for someone OTHER than Obama and McCain, Obama would need 7 from the undecideds and 4 from McCain. It would then be 56-40. I just dont see a 15 point bounce. -
"Out of Touch" "Call it...Country Club Economics" GREAT LINE And the Florida Democratic Party hits McCain as well:

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 12:25 PM) Interesting graphic comparing Tax Plans http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...8060900950.html but Obama's gonna tax the middle and lower class into hell. He's an evil tax and spend liberal -
I predict that Obama will name is VP "moments" before the top of an hour. It maximizes the top of the hour news carried on most radio stations.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) The wierd thing about this convention though is they need to build 2 stages, one for the Senator at Mile High and one for everyone else. So that's just the first one. I dont think the Invesco Field one will be fancy.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 11:12 AM) Update from CNN on the Obama Veepstakes. Basically, he's called some folks on the short list, saying they aren't the choice. Also, of note, they say that he will announce (or introduce) the VP at a rally in Springfield on Saturday. AP says Obama’s choice is imminent – “hours away.” and Mark Halperin has two Republican sources who say Sen. John McCain will pick Mitt Romney as his running mate. and Marc Ambinder reports there are "hints" of a major McCain rally being planned in Michigan "on or about 8/31." and Sebelius And Kaine Booked To Discuss Obama's Veep Choice On Sunday Shows

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 09:14 PM) I'll cite a Pew study here... Highest %age of the electorate 18-29 since 1992, and an even higher turnout rate than that year. I stand corrected. maybe it was that they expected higher turnout. It was 4 years ago. I dont remember what was for dinner last night. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) Based on exit polling data, I believe the turnout amongst young voters in 2004 was actually the highest it had been in quite some time. If I remember right, t was actually par for the course. I did election day coverage on a radio station and the "youth vote" was a story line of the election and I swear I remember it being fairly low. -

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) I can't remember a candidate waiting until the convention itself to pick the candidate Bush 41 picked his VP on the second day of the GOP convention in 1988. That's the most recent instance.

this is bad idea t ask for a diagnoses. I speak from experience. Early last year, I was given some medication from my doctor that really messed with my stomach. Then I started to have odd symptoms and "normal' things seems unusual. I freaked out. I had myself diagnosed with everything from acid reflux to several deadly diseases including leukemia, pancreatic cancer, lymphoma, and who knows what else.. I had myself convinced I would be dead in less than 6 months. I should NEVER have gone to WebMD. In the end, it was nothing. The medication severely messed up my system, specifically my liver, and it took almost a 10 months to fully return to normal. I'm still alive and healthy, though WAY over weight. lol so, maybe not so healthy. lol

On a side note: With all the fun the Obama campaign is having over this "houses" thing, that pretty much means he wont announce his VP today. They want this thing to get prime time coverage and a VP announcement would kill it.
