Many happy uneventful 'buster threads to you!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) It looks almost certain to give a beating to the Keys first...but the next one up in line, Ike, seems destined to make a run at the Gulf of Mexico and possibly NOLA as well. Maybe this could use a new thread? I got confused a bit by the old posts.

QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) So if Swish is 4 for 40 vs. Lackey in his career.....why is he in the lineup? Better defense with Anderson in CF and righties hit Lackey better. Who would you suggest in left then?

I'd rather have 2 months of a 'roider than Jerry Owens.

Media Bias: Perceived or Real? To what extent, and where?
knightni replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Filibuster
Glad to see that everyone glossed over my thoughts on the matter. -
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) Barry Bonds is going to sign on Monday. Honestly, I wouldn't be against it.

QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) Well, let's look at the bright side. We have remained in first place all year without Paul Konerko playing...(even when he played, up until August, he might as well have not been there). Now Paulie is starting to really hit the ball well again, and CQ is out. We will be fine, as long as our PITCHING doesn't s*** the bed. Paulie has really stepped it up lately. Oh, and for f***'s sake, could Nick Swisher start hitting something? Looks like someone's going to have to change their SN.

I'll say what I've said before. Cowley's trying to be the new Marriotti.

Chicagosports.com taken over?

They probably threw up the warning when the site was taken over by the Tribune, i.e. detected hacking. -
Official 2008-2009 NFL Thread
knightni replied to ChiSox_Sonix's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) Justin Tuck is becoming a real good defensive lineman. He was already a good lineman. He just never had a chance to play enough. He was a beast at Notre Dame. The guy would have had a lot more notice by the NFL as a Senior, if he hadn't left a year early. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 04:46 PM) no, looking at the game thread apparently he's in the lineup tonight and.... wait for it, wait for it... playing CF Why not Griffey LF, Swisher CF?

14. Ray Durham (15 of 27 lists - 202 points - highest ranking #1 SoxFan1) bio by knightni & wikipedia Ray Durham was a member of the Chicago White Sox from 1995 to 2002. Durham was a leadoff hitter during these years of his career. He established himself as one of baseballs better leadoff hitters with above league average on base percentages and averaging well over 20 stolen bases and 10 home runs per season. His performance from 2000 to 2002 was exceptional. By posting at least 15 home runs with 100 runs, 20 steals, a .450 slugging percentage and 65 RBI in three consecutive seasons, Durham became just the 10th player in baseball history to accomplish such a feat. He is in great company, with the list including Hall of Famers Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Joe Morgan, as well as current superstars Barry Bonds and Alex Rodriguez. Durham left Chicago as the club's all-time leader in leadoff home runs (20), while ranking fifth in steals (219), 7th in doubles (249) and extra base hits (408) and 8th in runs (784). When I think of Ray Durham, I think of promise and an unfulfilled career on the Southside. Coming up from the minors, he was a true home-grown guy. A fifth round pick, he blazed through the minors from Rookie ball in 1992, to hitting .296 with 16 HRs, and stealing at a 76% clip in AAA by 1994. He was a flash at 2B. No one could field flyballs like he could. He was almost a short rightfielder, his range was so extensive. It was a sad day when Kenny Williams dumped him to Oakland for mediocre relief prospect Jon Adkins. Durham has had so many good years since leaving the Sox, that it's a shame that he never got to be with the team and win it all in 2005.
