  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) Here comes Garland. Honestly, what is going on anymore? I feel like the pitching is just in a downward spiral. The all-star break can't get here soon enough. I'm sure they all could use some rest.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) It's amazing how much they resemble us from last season so far. And they have a better offense than we did last year as well.
  3. Lowell has had an amazing comeback year.
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) No, but that's a good one, too. I meant the argument that the Tigers can't beat good teams, when we've already dropped a series to the Blue Jays and are close to dropping one to the Red Sox. I don't even pay attention to that crap. The Tigers have been the best team in baseball to this point. They're here to stay.
  5. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) "the asking price for pitching is too high" jeez it cant cost too much to get javy.. It sure cost us a lot to get him.
  6. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) We might have one less argument against Tiger fans pretty soon if we can't score more runs. Oh, you mean the weak argument that all their pitchers are just gonna all of a sudden start to suck in August and September?
  7. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:41 PM) Oh, don't pretend that you haven't got a basic understanding of American phrases. Feel free to take a figure of speech literally, and have a cow while you're at it. Have a cow? You're the one having a stroke anytime someone suggests that our pitching is underperforming. Think Kenny is pleased with what he's seen out there of late? Especially when you consider all the money invested in these guys.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) Yep, way to go from one extreme to another. We're not demanding 1.50 ERAs from our starting pitchers. LOL. Man, when did the standards around here get so low? Is it to much to ask a guy who's making 10 million dollars a year to keep his era below 4.25?
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) Nobody? And my personal concerns with Freddy have been well-documented. But when everyone's b****ing and crying about how awful our pitching is, that we need to make trades, blah blah blah, it gets tiring. It's not like I've attacked anyone personally over it. I'm just saying that those of you who want to jump off a bridge in tears because our pitching doesn't pitch like Roger Clemens at his best every single night are so melodramatic. You specifically told me to jump off a bridge. I can't speak for anybody else.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) I wonder if he knows you're usually one of the more optimistic posters. Exactly. I was one of the main guys defending Freddy earlier in the year. But it's July 8th now. Not much has changed since April.
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) Fine, go jump off the bridge because of the rotation. Nobody is jumping off a bridge. But I'm not being a blind homer, either. How can one not be concerned with Freddy Garcia right now? Now, I agree that saying s*** like "he sucks" or "trade him for a bag of popcorn" is going overboard.
  12. That's what you get when you walk f***in' Alex Cora.
  13. Geez, is it really that easy to steal on our guys? The Red Sox haven't run this much all year.
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) The point was to pick up runs. No s***. But this team is still built on pitching.
  15. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) The point of picking up Thome was in making sure that they didn't have to. Maybe we should get rid of Thome. That'll teach the pitchers not to ever expect run support. 1-0 ballgames or bust. The point of picking up Thome was to improve what was an inconsistent offense last year. Not to give our starters (except for Jose, and to a lesser degree Mark) the green-light to pitch as poorly as they have.
  16. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) How are you not? What has he done to make us believe otherwise? McCarthy grew up a starter, and it's hard to convert. And don't give me that "Cotts did it" crap, because, yes, it can happen, but its VERY hard. That doesn't mean he would go out and dominate. A few good starts last year doesn't make him a sure thing. We would need more than a filler if we moved B-mac to the rotation. I'm not holding my breath on Hermanson.
  17. So what are the chances of Freddy givin' the lead right back to Boston next inning?
  18. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) Beckett is waay overrated. On the road anyway.
  19. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) A free spot for B-Mac? I'm still 100% convinced B-Mac can be that starter he was at the end of last year. He's NOT A f***ING RELIEVER! I'm not. But even if we do that, we create another hole in the bullpen.
  20. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) You have to wonder is Freddy is tired. He has had almost no break in 2 years with the WBC. His velocity is s***. He started the year stronger and has gotten worse. Remember Fredy started the year with "all-star" talk? At what point was anyone ever talking about Freddy being an all-star? And I don't want to hear the WBC excuse crap. How many innings did he actually even pitch?
  21. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) everyone keeps saying we cant afford to add more money, well get rid of one of our over paid starters. the mets really want a starter and have been interested in vazquez for a while... And what the hell are we gonna get back from the Mets that could help us?
  22. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) As I recall Garcia did just fine last season in the playoffs. :rolly This year's version of Garcia is absolutely nothing like last year's. I wish Ozzie would stop kissin' Freddy's ass and call him out.
  23. The Freddy Garcia era can't end soon enough for me. Atleast with Garland and Vazquez, it's more mental than anything. Freddy is not the same physically. I don't know what his ass did during the off-season. He's clearly not the Freddy of the past.
  24. I miss the days when our guys pitched like the Tigers' guys.
