Man, if you had told me we would have 9 runs by the 8th inning and we'd still be down by 4.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) Uh, it would take a lot to get Hernandez. Do you know how many people want decent relief guys? People will be overpaying out the wazoo to get even mediocre relief. I don't think so. The guy is 42 years old. Nobody is gonna empty out their farm for him. If Kenny really wants him, he can have him.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) The mop up guy is a bigger problem than 3 starters with ERAs above 4.50? The mop up guy is a bigger problem than a starting CF hitting .170? Not to me. True. Although I can live with Anderson as long as he's playing gold-glove caliber defense. But Politte is definitely a big problem.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) Official Politte Apologists Thread Well, there was nothing wrong with giving Cliff a chance to prove that his poor pitching was due to not being healthy. That's obviously not the case.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) You don't go out and trade for a guy to be the last man in your pen. Montero will come up and do that. Why not? It wouldn't take that much to get him. We need another quality arm. Montero? Please stop.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) What did you see in Pitt that makes you want Hernandez???? Hernandez >>>> Politte The guy has been great for the last year and a half. One bad series against an offense like ours doesn't overshadow that.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) I was being sarcastic. I know this team has holes, but too many people hide behind our record. Still, I don't think Cliff Politte is even close to being our biggest problem. Um, he's definitely one of our biggest problems.

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) I'm sick of hearing how we are 53-27, guess what guys, when we get to the playoffs that record doesn't mean s***. We cannot afford to have holes in our bullpen come October. Politte has got to go. Exactly. You've got to look at the big picture. We won it all last year with DOMINANT starting pitching and an EXCELLENT bullpen. We're basically the '05 Red Sox right now. Yeah, will probably win 95 games or so and get into the playoffs. But that's about it.

I'll always be greatful to Cliff for 2005. But enough is enough. Good god! I know relievers are very inconsistent from year to year, but I've never seen anything like this. I want to say to Dickallen, Quickman, and everybody else that said Politte wouldn't come close to his '05 numbers in '06 -- YOU WERE RIGHT!

I've seen enough! Angel f***ing Pagan? Politte is done! Kenny needs to get us another reliever. ASAP!

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) I have to say I'm absolutely disgusted with Buehrle. I don't give a f*** about wind conditions or merely a bad day with location. You score 6 runs off Zambrano, more often than not, you expect to win. Zambrano is pitching to one of the best offensive teams in the league whereas Buehrle's pitching to the worst. I don't expect 11 runs on the board. I'm going to bring it up only once, but when people criticize me for putting Liriano and Santana in a league above Contreras and Buehrle these are prime examples. Neither pitcher would EVER give up 11 run....EVER. Regardless of conditions. Who the hell criticizes you for that? The only tandem I'd take over those two is 2001 Schilling/Johnson.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Quick guys, name me two starting pitchers with at least 10 starts that have not had two bad outings this year Santana and Liriano? LOL. I get your point, though.

Man, if Mark could've just had a bad outing. Something like 6 runs allowed. I didn't expect us to knock Zambrano around like this.

QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) Yep, I do. In my eyes, the Twins are head and shoulders above the Tigers and I would want to the see the Sox beat the best LOL. To each his own, I guess. I'll s*** my pants if the Twins somehow get into the playoffs.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) Chat room's open. Just woke up and need an explanation for this score. 11-6? With Buehrle on the mound? What the f***? You know how Buehrle has about 3 or 4 games a year in which he gets rocked? This was one of those games. He had nothing from the first pitch.

QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) Honestly, at this point, I would like to see the White Sox win the division and for the Twins to win the wild card. The Tiger's luck is starting to run out. . . Are you f***in' serious? I don't want any part of the Twins in the playoffs. Santana/Liriano scare the living s*** out of me.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) A pirate win would take some of the sting out of this loss. Come on Freddy! LOL. A Pirate win would actually piss me off a little. It would make this shellacking by a pathetic Cubs team even more frustrating. But, yes, go Pirates!

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) Personally, watching this team outslug opponents isn't even fun. Some people might like it but that type of style won't win you s*** when it really counts. This team needs better pitching. And please save your "we're 53-27 BLAH BLAH BLAH..." posts. I couldn't agree with you more. This team is looking too much like '04 for my tastes. Don't get me wrong, the offense is great. Nothing wrong with scoring a s***load of runs, obviously. But this team is only gonna go as far as the pitching takes us. Our defense and fundamentals have not been up to last year's levels, either.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) Hypothetical? How many threads would ABOZ have created if this outing was a JG outing? When does MB get a clever nickname like Judy? After all, he's the pitcher who allows the truly big innings, and never pitches over the defensive lapses behind him. C'mon now. Let's not start comparing Buehrle's body of work with that of Garland. Buehrle got ROCKED today. Period. But he's still Mark Buehrle.

QUOTE(atrain081 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) I'm beginning to think that it's impossible to beat the Cubs on Sunday. Does anyone know our record vs. the Cubs on Sunday? I can't remember the last time we beat them. It's been pretty bad since I'd say 2002. I know we did beat them on a Sunday in '04.
