  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) With Mark gone, seriously, burn the motherf***er down. I'll bring the gas.
  2. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) Buehrle signs with Fla 4 years $58 million Sox wouldn't have matched that.
  3. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) A sportscaster wondered if the Sox would trade PK to the Cubs.. For Castro?
  4. Now the Marlins are denying wanting to trade Hanley. What the hell is going on down there?
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) The thing I don't get is that the new Marlins stadium is supposed to be a massive pitcher's park. Why would two potential HOFers in Pujols/Fielder want to go play there and have their numbers die? It won't matter because it'll be Ozzie-ball. If they land one of those guys, they could be bunting.
  6. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) Ozzie has a mess on his hands.. Good for him. Good for him.
  7. Now the Marlins are saying they want to trade Hanley.
  8. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) My Red Sox source told me that, this could be a 5 to 6 player trade. With either Danks or Floyd along with Quentin to the Red Sox and some of the players that KW wants back is Reddick, Ranaudo, Igelsias and Doubront. he also said that they been working on this all day.. Hmmm
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) @GordonEdes Gordon Edes White Sox, Red Sox meeting on Danks, Floyd I saw that, too. What does anyone know about Red Sox prospects?
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) Sounds like the chairman isn't getting involved this time, probably to save a buck and avoid the emotional involvement. Bye bye Mark. Hello cheap era, White Sox. Hopefully he won't sign with a Central Division team and go 6-0 versus the Sox every year with a no hitter or two thrown in there. It's not about saving a buck at this point. It's about not spending $48 million over the next 3+ years. There has been very little salary moved, and even JR won't jump in to get him signed before KW sheds a lot more money. I agree, however, that hopefully he doesn't sign with an AL Central team. From what I've seen, heard, and read, I would imagine it'll be an NL team.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) Lot of fluff there outside of this. Once again, where are the offers close to home? I find it hard to believe that the Sox haven't at least said, "Here's our best offer...we can't do anything else." I would imagine that might have been done a while back, too. Maybe the Sox, KC, and other teams in the midwest haven't made offers, but that surprises me.
  12. If he goes, which seems he will, I hope he ends up in the NL. I'd like to see St. Louis, but I'm thinking it'll be Miami or Washington.

    QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) I've now seen Anchorage mentioned a couple of times. Don't get me wrong, as I have always wanted to visit Alaska, but is Anchorage a booming town or something? Not necessarily. I lived in Juneau for a few years and visited Anchorage several times. I'd like the idea of living in Anchorage because it's a decent sized city with access to unbelievable fishing and hunting. Plus, I love cold weather and snow.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 10:33 AM) Oh boy, could this be it??? @d_a_cameron David Cameron Marlins making an official announcement in media room at 11:15 It's about Reyes
  15. hogan873 replied to SoxFan1's topic in SLaM
    Not necessarily in order, but: Chicago Anchorage Pittsburgh Boston Tampa Raleigh Seattle Portland...Maine St. Louis
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 01:46 AM) I will effectively dislike both parties (as much as I can) if he signs elsewhere. Mark for lying about close to home and retiring soon. Sox for not resigning him. This is the part that bothers me. It's like he did a complete 180. He went from saying he's done at the end of his contract to saying he has to do what's best for his family (staying in the midwest) to looking for the most money and/or the longest contract.
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) I am amazed (but not really) at the stupidity of this fan base. We have an inability to think logically about something. Instead, we overreact with the first thought that comes to our head. What's the LAST thing a rebuilding team needs? A closer. What's the first thing a rebuilding team needs? Pitching prospects. A few more moves of this caliber, and KW will have had a successful winter meetings.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) Uhhhh, wanna bet? Yeah, I still see Thornton going. He's not the closer for this team even if he stays.
  19. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) Instantly our best SP prospect And very young. This is good stuff.
  20. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) cst_Cowley cst_Cowley KW said Sox won't rush Molina. "It is a start of a rebuilding now." 13 seconds ago Favorite Retweet Reply There's the word we've been waiting for.
  21. The Santos trade makes me think that the Sox are going to be more willing to trade guys like Alexei, Beckham, etc. Maybe not, but I didn't expect the trade.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) http://seedlingstostars.com/2011/11/24/the...lina/#more-2791 I like the conclusion: Molina is an impressively polished pitcher who was one of 2011′s biggest breakout stars. With average to above-average stuff and otherworldly command, he should at least be an innings-eater and could be a very good #2 starter. After all, the biggest problem for command pitchers like this is the home run ball, a problem which shouldn’t show up for Molina thanks to his approach. That makes Molina a similar pitcher to Doug Fister statistically, and pitchers like that are bigtime assets.
  23. Is this the first chip if several for the day? Let's hope.
  24. So, does this mean the Sox will be looking for a closer or use someone already on the roster?
  25. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:49 AM) http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=molina001nes Molina seems pretty f***ing dominant. Wow. He really does.
