White Sox sign Andruw Jones
Very low risk and a potential big reward especially since it's considered a bench signing. Sure it's another guy that KW wanted years ago, but like with Omar he adds a lot of depth. I like it.

What is your favorite Holiday?
I like the time from Thanksgiving to Christmas, but I think my favorite is Thanksgiving. It's the kickoff to the holiday season, and best of all it's time to do nothing but eat and watch football. Oh, and drink beer.

Is anyone as nervous as I am?
Wow, the 2010 Sox are already written off before Thanksgiving. Well, that will save me a lot of time over the summer. I can concentrate on doing stuff other than watching the Sox. I agree that there are some question marks in the lineup, but there are question marks every year. Now, if things look the same in late February, this thread might have a little more meaning. I'm not nervous at all. After the disappointment of 2009 I'm not expecting a repeat of 2005. Would I like to see a WS run? Absolutely, and I think with a few more additions/subtractions it could happen. OF/DH is the biggest hole right now for offense, and a bullpen arm or two will be needed. Not nervous now, but I might be come late February if the lineup looks the same.

Hideki Matsui
So if the Sox do sign him, and the Vizquel thing goes as planned, is the only whole left the OF? Or do the Sox go with someone from within?

Jenks not happy with Guillen commenting about his weight
Deal with it, Chubs. You're an athelete...act like it.

Official: Omar Vizquel Signs with Sox
Interesting. Does this mean the end of Jayson Nix as a Sox?

The Finer Things In Life
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 07:04 AM) Old Fezziwig has been the only reason I've bought the holiday samplers for years. And friggin' Sam Adams knows that and it's why they don't sell it on its own. Jim Koch is really a jerk a lot of the time. 20+ years ago, you could actually get single large bottles of fezziwig (I think pints, but maybe they were bombers, I don't remember). That's when I fell in love with the stuff. I made the mistake of trying a barrel-aged vanilla holiday thing from AB two years ago and it was absolutely putrid — maybe the least unbalanced beer I've ever tried. My mom thought is was wonderful (she's nuts), so at least a bottle or two was spared from the drain. And unlike G&T, I will pour a totally crappy beer down the drain. I try my best to choke down almost everything on principle, but sometimes it's a losing battle. I agree. I was excited to find a new beer to try, even if it was an AB product. I was highly disappointed. Unbalanced for sure. Artificial vanilla flavor and cloying alcohol taste.

The Finer Things In Life
I remember years ago enjoying the Cranberry Lambic, but last year I couldn't drink it. To me there was a punch of something spoiled towards the end. Unless my taste had changed, I think it was a bad year for that brew. I'll try it again this year, as I always partake in the winter sampler (is there a mass market holiday beer better than Old Fezziwig?). I've always felt that fall and winter are the best times of the year for good beer. AB even puts out some decent brews in the Michelob sampler pack. And a few years ago, Miller put out the wonderful chocolate brew.

QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 06:06 AM) Well it has to be better than mixing pilsner and coke. That's a German favorite apparently. There's a beer from Austria, Stiegl Gaudi-Radler Zitrone, that is half beer and half lemon soda. I wasn't impressed.

I'm a fan of a tall frothy Black and Blue. The Guinness and Blue Moon work well together.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 15, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) Young's Double Chocolate Stout would probably go well on ice cream. Finnegan's in Plainfield has a dessert which is a Guiness Float. I haven't tried it, but I just might have to.

Danks and Floyd "highly unlikely" to be dealt
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 10:37 AM) Milton Bradley? Carlos Zambrano? Well, I'd send them both to the Cubs for Bradley.

Traveling for Thanksgiving?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 08:45 AM) About 3.5 miles to the in-laws. My in-laws are traveling 3 blocks to our house for dinner.

Danks and Floyd "highly unlikely" to be dealt
I would take KW's word on this. Unless there's someone he can't pass up on that would require trading Danks or Floyd, I don't see it happening. And realistically, is there anyone out there worth pursuing that hard?
