Traveling for Thanksgiving?
I haven't traveled for Thanksgiving in a long time. Actually, the last time I did, we drove to North Carolina eight years ago. Long-ass drive with a 3 month old. This year, we're going to Columbus the day after Thanksgiving for my daughter's Irish Dance competition. So, I'll test the 6-hour drive with three kids this time.

Dye speaks.
I think JD is making a mistake by saying he won't play at DH. I suppose there are a few teams that will seek him out to play RF (or 1st as he says), but there would be more team (White Sox included) that would consider him at DH.

Back Up Catching Options
Boston declined the Varitek's option (although he can stay with the team if he agrees to the club option of $3 million). Would he be a candidate for a back-up?

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 08:24 AM) Moroccan coffee, with frothy pan-steamed milk and, cinnamon, cuman, a little black pepper and a good dose of sugar, is a nice treat. Sadly, most days it is instant, but at least it's Bustello or Pilon. Oh my, that does sound like a treat. Pardon my double "o" post.

Long time ago I worked in a coffee shop and was able to try many different types. Sumatra has always been one of my favorites.

The Finer Things In Life
I need to frequent Binny's more often. I get overwhelmed when I go in there and lose my concentration. I need to go in with a list of beers I want to try. I have tried O'Fallon's Smoked Porter. That is one tasty beer.

Sox GM Meetings
The last thing I am is an expert on our minor league system. I pretty much read what's posted here and get my info from that. I like the idea of Danks2 coming up and pulling a Beckham, but do we really think the Sox will strike gold two years in a row? Maybe...hopefully. I like the idea of signing a veteran who can be had for the cash the Sox are willing to spend, and then let Danks take the Path of Beckham through AA and AAA. By doing that, we might have a better idea if Danks is the real deal.

QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 05:27 PM) I'm drinking an Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Märzen. This is a weird, wild experience. Man, I just looked up this beer on ratebeer.com. It sounds delicious. Where did you find it?

What Did You Want To Be When You Grew Up?
When I was a little kid, I wanted to be a pilot for the Blue Angels. But, since I have been wearing glasses (with atrocious eye sight) since I was 5, that wasn't likely. For a long time, I wanted to be a meteorologist. I'm still a weather nut and since being a meteorologist is out of the question now, maybe I'll just be a storm chaser.

Sox acquire Mark Teahen, $$$ for Getz/Fields
If this trade had happened at the deadline back in July or not until January or February, this thread probably wouldn't be nearly as big. But, look back at the posts and you'll see that there was a lot of speculation of where Teahan would play, what the trade would mean for Beckham and Alexei, and what future moves will be made. So, yeah, it is actually a "small trade", but it opens a door a crack that could open wide in the coming months.

KW: Pods not likely to come back
I would think that KW has some plans up his sleeves. And if Pods wants too much, well let's thank him and say goodbye. So now the Sox have a hole in the OF and leadoff. Let's hope the Sox get it right this year. I don't think any of us want to see what we saw at the beginning of last season again.
